I am a 59 year old man who has NEVER done anything like this. This video assumes that the viewer knows to take the paper backing off first. The best instructional videos speak to the viewer as though they know NOTHING about the process.

Mine didn't have any paper backing. Perhaps you purchased a different type of heat 'n bond as there are different kinds.
