    I do Counted Cross Stitch and have been trying to figure out how to add them to Denim jackets, shirts and other clothing. Thank You for a terrific tutorial on how to use Heat & Bond!! I'm presently counted cross stitching 14 different princesses to add to my granddaughter Gracie's Denim jacket and shirt. You are my life saver and without this tutorial, I'd still be confused about how to attach them. Thank You again! Judi

    I used 3m spray adhesive to put patches on a heavy leather jacket, sprayed both surfaces let it get tacky the applied pressure, the stitched the perimeter. The patches are solidly on the jacket.

    I have used the ultra hold heat N bond to fix tears in my fabric couch and leather chair. The couch I did several years ago and the leather chair I did almost a year ago and they are still holding up fine and I did not stitch them. I did the rough side facing up (glue side) opposite of your video… there is no way to peel off the backing but it still works as your not putting another piece of fabric over it. Just pinch the seams of your tear together while still warm to close the tear.

    thanks for making this. If I use the light vs the ultra & I DON'T stitch over it can I take it off later on? I am making a costume & want to keep the shirt later to wear. I am adding some decorative gold transfer & fabric to the ends of the shirt. I want to remove it after I make my video. Is there a way to get it off later on? If not I was thinking of using the heat & bond onto a white piece of fabric & then attaching it to the shirt so I can take it off later on. Thanks

    I ❤ the way you explained everything but Omgh, holding the iron in place trying to get the backing to separate... did not work for me at all lol🤣!!! I tried these products before I saw your video and the same result🤔. So what I have done before was to take the white backing off and just place the clear piece on the back of my project. Then I held the iron without any steam. The great thing is it worked faster and I could use these products completely.😉

    I actually, use my light box to trace whatever right onto the paper backing of the Heat Bond first. Then take it to the iron and put the bond on the fabric and cut it out. Last, of course, is too apply it to the actual fabric the ' shape' is to go onto.

      I'm also concerned about this too because I have projects made like this and they came off after washing. I hand- washed in warm water and also cold as well as hung to dry outside and the patches came off on both occasions. Haven't tried machine wash and drying. Although I noticed that you could heat press the patches again and they are good. But it would be nice to find out how to get them glued permanently or for a significantly long time. I do these as crafts for sale and would want to give my customers their money's worth.
      Helpful tips would be appreciated!

    So even If I'm only gonna saw around the edges (extra-large patch on denim jacket) I should NOT use "Ultra Hold"? I should use the "Lite" version? Also, can the backing be left on? Thanks.

    • @Javafiendcuppajoe
      @Javafiendcuppajoe 6 лет назад +1

      Yes use the Lite if you plan to stitch, because the Ultra will gum up your sewing machine unless you plan to hand stitch. You will need to remove the backing to make a bond cloth to cloth.

    I wanted to add lace to a plain blouse that I have, and I was wondering if I would do something different with the lace. I was thinking that when I am ironing the heat n bond to the wrong side of the lace, it might kind of go through the holes in the lace and make the lace stick to the ironing board. Is there a certain surface that I should do this project on to make sure that this doesn't happen?

    We make embroidery patches. We want to be able to offer the customer the option of ironing on the patch or stitching it on. If we use the Light Sewable bond, and the customer wants to just iron it on and not sew around, will it stay on their garmant? I understand that if we use the Ultra bond one it will damage a sewing machine. Is the only solution to ask the customer in advance whether they want to iron on the patch or sew it on and then use the appropriate HeatNBond.

      It does away with the need for pins, in the case of applique, and prevents fraying. It can also be used to put patches on ripped jeans or just decorative patches on jean jackets or bags. I personally use it to apply Boy Scout patches to uniforms.
