I just got this Cricut Explore 3 to make a banner, I want to cut out letters and logos for this and I have been searching and searching for info on how to cut fabric with heat and bond backing. You have made my day, so I'm finally gonna get started on it! Thanks! Hope to do much more in the future.
Cute heart! I am new to Cricut and I'm watching lots of videos to learn how to use it properly. I appreciate you putting them out here. Just a quick note, the reason your iron is beeping is that it has an automatic shut off that will turn it off if you leave it down for too long. They turn themselves off when it has not been set upright after a set amount of time. Mine warns me after 30 seconds and shuts off after 1 minute of laying down. It also turns itself off after a few minutes of not being moved. If I need it again after it has automatically shut itself off, all I have to do is lay it down again as if to iron. It will start heating up again automatically. Saves on electric and keeps it from burning anything. When I use Heat & Bond, I just tip it upright when the light starts blinking after 30 seconds down then right back down to keep it from turning off.
Just found this tutorial. When I want to do something new, I always look to see if you have a tutorial on it. Thank you so much. Without you my Cricut would still be in the box. Thank you again. Please keep the tutorials coming.
Omg this is adorable and so easy to do I'm new to this project but learning to see what eles my machine can do thank you so much I enjoy learning from you
This was simple and really cute - you explain things well and make it feel like even the least fabric skilled of us (that would be me) could do this successfully.
Thank you for showing us the "weld" technique. It was very helpful. I was wondering how to further modify a template by making a cut. For example, if my template of a deer has more antler prongs than I need, may I cut them off before I cut the fabric with the Cricket Maker. At this time, I'm cutting the "extra or unwanted" antler prongs after my Cricket Maker is finished with its cut.
Your iron beeps because you kept it horizontal for so long that it’s warning you it will turn off unless you raise it up for a half a second. The heat turns off when it’s horizontal as a precaution against scorching your fabric. Again, just lift your are iron a moment and then go back to ironing and the beeping will stop and your iron will stay hot.
on the heat and bond,is a great product and different weights. if you took the backing paper off, and attached it to the mat, would the glue that is to stay on your material to make it adhere to fabric, wouldn't that had perhaps stuck to the mat? If did, I think I'd rather have the paper. was just thinking about that. lol
I am a newbie and this video was perefect. I made mind at the same time video and it came out perfect! Now i cant wait to see your other videos. going to try this with letters now.
Hi corine , this is awesome and would like to try however wondering if the heat and bond permanent will not be peeled from tshirts after washing? Any idea please how many washes could it stand? Thanks and hope to hear from you
Using fabric, to make shirts using it, the cotton fabric; it’s able to be washed right? And not be messed up?? And what blade do u use for using fabric?? Sorry I am new and am getting a cricuit with taxes and looking to start this as my first project!
This was cut with the fine point blade that comes with the Cricut Explore Air 2. Yes this can be washed but depending on your fabric it may fray on the edges after some time.
It is really cute! I have never used the heat and bond and didn't know how. Which Cricut did you use? I was looking at mine and don't have the bonded fabric just regular fabric. Can you do this with mine also do you know? Also would I need to use the deep cut blade? What is the deep cut blade for?
I have been waiting to ask someone who used a cricut.because I don’t know anyone. Would you be able to use fabric backed wallpaper with a cricut. Thanks so much.
It would depend on the thickness of the material. And then finding the right cut settings. I don’t know much about fabric backed wallpaper but in theory it should work
@@CorinneBlackstone thank you so much for the quick reply, I really appreciate it. And thanks for the info. I have been wanting to ask this to someone for so long.
Question, I’m wanting to cut fabric for my grandsons gowns (his name) I have the heat and bond light will that work, and fabric blade any suggestions to assure this fabric will stay on his clothes. Should I cut right side up or fabric down and heat and bond up, in reverse?
What happens to the material that was left over? Do I have to cut a whole length of material or can I cut it (for example) 4x4 size because that's all I need.
Is there a specific fabric that you have to use on the cricut for appliqués? The fabric I’m trying ito is cotton but it’s not getting a clean cut & the fabric buckles up.
Cute have a question- I’ve saved free svg files to my Cricut Explorer 2 but it was saved as a jpeg file how do I convert to svg. Very difficult for me your tutorials are very informative Thanks in advance ❤️
Great video- quick question-did you mirror your image? I noticed you cut it printed side up was not sure if I am supposed to mirror when using fabric? Thanks:)
@@CorinneBlackstone I did that but still couldnt get it off. I used the same heat and bond you used too. I ruined 2 mats. I wish I knew what I did wrong. I love everything you do.
Number 1 yep totally supuld have removed the paper. (Made a mistake) and number 2 while they recommend using that blade you do not have to. :) you can see it clearly works just fine with the regular blade.
Hi I tried this to repaire pants of my grand son but the heat n bond ultrahold didn't glue well. I don't know Why... I feel disapointed. Thanks for this video
If you wanted the paper backing to be left on the applique, why didn't you lay the fabric side face down? When you do un-bonded fabric Cricut tells you to lay your fabric pretty side down. So maybe there is a reason that you can't do this with bonded fabric, but I don't know why? With your heart design it wouldn't have mattered. But if you were doing a design that had letters or a direction, you would just have to mirror the image before printing it. I have done applique for decades, and sometimes I like to layer my images. Using your heart applique as an example, I would leave the paper backing on to do a layering effect. Then cut a smaller bonded heart out then press that to the inside the bigger heart. Then after all of your layers have been added to your heart then remove the paper backing from the big heart and heat set the completed applique design to your item. This is the second video that I have seen where the Heat N Bond paper is sticking to the mat! It looks like it will take some time to get that off. I am considering the Cricut Maker and it says to use the fabric bonded blade with bonded fabrics. Is that what you used?
Yep, I have done that myself, not thinking, LOL. I wonder if the stickiness from the Heat N Bond would stick too much on the mat? Have you tried doing it that way without the paper? And did you use the bonded fabric blade like they suggest? If I get the Cricut Maker, I think I will do my appliques in mirrored image and lay the fabric side down. Have you tried that method as well? Sometimes trial and error is the only way to find the best result. Thank you for your video, newbies to applique with Heat N Bond will surely learn a lot.
I just checked with my mom as this was a gift for her and she said no fraying and shes washed it several times. I can't promise it won't ever fray because the fabric can make it fray and if its a shirt it gets more wear and tear.
It was just a tutoria to show how to use the feature the machine offers. This may not be something everyone uses but as a teacher of the cricut all features are taught. Also I couldn't cut a heart out that looks good if you paid me a million dollars

No the adhesive is only sticky once heat is added to it. You could remove the paper

No

Hi there! How do you remove the leftover heat n bond stuck to your mat? The technique worked great, though!
I ended up putting it under luke warm water and it came right off

Do you have to use a certain blade?
Really found this helpful thankyou =o)
What blade do I use for the Explore Air 2? I enjoy your videos!
Willa Blake this is just the standard blade that came with the machine

Do you have to use heat and bond? Can you use fabric glue instead? Or no? I’m still learning.
to cut on the explore series the fabric must have some kind of bonding.
I tried this today and it’s awessssommmmeee I like this better than vinyl lol
Which Cricut do you have I want to buy one that does fabric.
Would the fabric still cut as well if you had taken the paper off the back of the heat and bond??
Yes it would have
How do you remove and clean the remaining paper on the mat ?
I washed the mat in luke warm water

No

The explore air 2

if I want to do lettering, do I have to do it reverse?
