This is a really neat idea. Heat & Bond is usually used by sewers/quilters for applique but you still typically have to do something to finish off the edges; this looks like it would take care of that problem by covering up the very edge with the vinyl.
I agree with Karen B, thanks for doing this in real time, it lets us know what is possible and what you can expect sometimes. Love your tutorial, I am new to cricut, heat-press and the whole nine yard. Big Thumps up to you
Bless your heart for having such an awesome attitude even when things weren’t going as planned! I think I would’ve been so frustrated and may have cussed a few times! Lol
just luv your videos! The last time i tried this, i kept the Heat Bond paper on when i cut the fabric then peeled of the excess fabric like i would 651 so it would come off the mat in one piece.
Hello Karen , this is awesome however I’m wondering how many washing cycles would the heat n bond last or is it peeled ? Thanks and hope to hear from you
I love to watch your videos. I also love you showing how real every moment is. I also joined your patreon club. Thank you again keep those videos coming.
Please can u do a video on how you did the lettering...there are lots of videos for the silhouette but I have a cricut air 2. I have searched the internet for 4 days and for the life of me I can not figure out how to do it. I have had my cricut for 2 weeks and subscribe to your channel..You are awesome. Thank you for taking the time to do this..
just start typing in cricut air 2 in the search blank of youtube and you'll find all kinds of recommendations, dont' know if anything are of what you're looking for specifically though. here's the shortcut to the search results I found ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=cricut+air+2+tutorials+for+beginners
Thank you for sharing. Design looked fantastic and I'm also grateful that you showed all the possible teething probs that we all go through, and you have the patience of a saint. Thank you for sharing. God Bless you :o)
When I attach the Ultra-Heat Bond to the fabric, am I attaching it to the right side of the fabric? Do I place the bonded fabric on the cutting mat right side up or do I have it flipped over on the wrong side and mirror the image that is being cut out on the Ultra-Heat Bonded fabric? I want to make sure that I understand the process so as not to waste product...thank you for your videos, you make everything look so darn easy. I will admit that I have been encouraged to do more complex projects since watching your videos.
I know how to use heat n bond , what i want to learn is how to find a free pic load it to my cricut and be able to cut it even if it says print and cut, also how to play with the layers , and also how to simply cut a silouette of the drawing
I know most of your videos are on the projects themselves. However, I am wondering if you can do some tutorials on difference b/n png and svg, how to use the Business edition I recently upgraded to vs the Basic edition I had before, and just some more videos on the making of stuff and not just the applying steps.
Hello, I love this idea. Could you please explain how you got the outlined lettering? Is that a font? Please explain how you got the lettering that way. Thankyou :)
If you use Silhouette Studio, you type your text and edit it to whatever font you like first, then press offset. You can adjust the thickness of your offset. Select both offset and original text, then EITHER right click and «make compound path» OR go to the Modify panel, select Subtract. :)
You can use Silhouette Studio - Business Edition - to make designs for both Silhouette, Cricut and Brother Scanncut. This since you can save SVG-files now. As long as you have Business Edition, that is. You can even purchase SVG-files in SilhouetteDesignStore (.com). Not ALL their designs, but most, I think.
Love the video! I have problems cutting fabric backed with heat n bond with the cricut. It always seems to pull away from the mat... Do you use a regular or deepcut blade?
I want to know how you did the outline cutout from the glitter vinyl. I have a design I cut in fabric and now I'd like to outline it in vinyl and I'm a Cricut virgin so I don't know how to do much. Thanks.
I looked into the Speciality Materials webpage. I can only assume that they only sell to distributors. Do you carry the new glitter flex Ultra HTV that they have? If so what colors do you have? It looks like this product can be layered without any problems. I'd love to see a tutorial on this product and layering. I love the idea of a softer glitter cuz I love glitter. Thanks, Just love your tutorials. Natalie Johnson
Hi! Help needed! What size is your fabric cut verses your vinyl cut. I am trying to figure it out in Cricut Design Space and having a heck of a time. I can't figure out how to back lettering to make a vinyl backing. Any help would be great!
Wish it was 80 here. We are back down to 50:60 here and rain. I want to put vinyl on canvas. What is the best method for adhering it and know it would stay?
Questions please... -The heat bond is applied to the wrong side of the fabric? - Place heat bond side down onto mat? -You don't mirror the fabric, when designing in software, correct? Thanks sooo much
If fabric placed on mat with bond/glue side up then reverse cut, if fabric side up DONT reverse. If using a carrier sheet from other htv(like an old glitter carrier sheet) then put fabric side on carrier (bond side up) then cut in REVERSE.
How did you get them to overlap? When I designed my name in inkscape and sliced it out it is the exact size of the inside and no overlap. I would like the HTV to cover the raw edge of fabric.
How well does the fabric stay in place with the vinyl after being washed? Would it be better to hand wash, or wash on delicate? I'm not sure if the fabric will eventually make its way out on the edges and start fraying. I'm brand new to vinyl, but have been sewing for a little while.
the method using the heat & bond is used by sewers/quilters for doing aplique and is typically done using 100% cotton fabric; it's the basic fabric that you'll find in places like Hobby Lobby or Walmart, or if you have it JoAnn Fabrics
Do you know why the fabric would peel off. I used the heat n bond pressed it to the fabric for 13 sec on 330 and then on the material for 15 sec at 330
witch one of the heat bond did you get, there is at least 4 there, and I was confused, so please let me know witch one you bought, for about $10:00 a yard
So it took 5 minutes to replace all the fabric letters back onto the back of the HTV, only to have them fall off again and another 5 to re-do it again. I don’t have the patience for that
I did it a different way. I simply aligned and stuck the letters to the back of the glitter piece, they didn't move or fall out no matter how many time I repositioned them.
This is a really neat idea. Heat & Bond is usually used by sewers/quilters for applique but you still typically have to do something to finish off the edges; this looks like it would take care of that problem by covering up the very edge with the vinyl.

Thank you for keeping this real! I appreciate the fact that you didn’t cut out the difficulties 👍🏻💕
She could have relieved us of some of it. If you didn't get the fact that it was tedious then you love pain and torture. Seriously!!!!
just luv your videos!
The last time i tried this, i kept the Heat Bond paper on when i cut the fabric then peeled of the excess fabric like i would 651 so it would come off the mat in one piece.
Do you have a tutorial for Cricut users on how to do the outline? Please help, thanks in advance
Would love to see a cricut tutorial on how to do the outline font cut. Please, please, please ❤
You tube needs a love/heart button! Because I LOVE this idea! Thank You!!
♥️
GRANNYG 💯
Was looking for a way to get around having to embroider fabric all the time. This looks perfect !
Thanks for doing these videos. I'm a visual learner.
I really would like to know where you got your shirt from, the design is just GORGEOUS!
This proyect takes forever omg
Hello Karen , this is awesome however I’m wondering how many washing cycles would the heat n bond last or is it peeled ? Thanks and hope to hear from you
You have the patience of Job! Cute project but tedious!!!

Love this, but wish you'd show a video on how to do the outline.
Diane Montavon it seems that it’s just a offset..internal and external offset. That’s how it’s labeled in silhouette studio
$7.89 for 5 yards at Walmart in LA County California. Only state it would be more expensive is Hawaii or Alaska
This would be so cute with knee pants or shorts made out of the same print fabric!
Maybe add a transfer sheet before you cut the fabric part so that it stays together?
Thank you for sharing. Design looked fantastic and I'm also grateful that you showed all the possible teething probs that we all go through, and you have the patience of a saint. Thank you for sharing. God Bless you :o)
I enjoyed this video & cant wait to make my own fabric project. What font did you use for the word (PRECIOUS)?
More ideas on designing unique products. Love it. Thanks.
As I watch this video I would like to ask what font you used for the fabric as well as the outline in vinyl?
Love it, just got me an cricut machine, can't wait to learn more
I would love to know how you did the letters layered with the outline and the fill (fabric) please!! Thank you.
did you know you can clean the mats with dishwashing liquid and let it dry and it is good as new
I see alot of responses of how to do the Lettering with Silhouette but How do you do the Lettering with a Cricut Air 2... Please!!

Baby wipes work really good to clean your mats

I’ll be using my Cricut Maker to cut my Heat N Bond material. Should I use my rotary blade or a Bonded Fabric Point Blade?
I had the same question did you ever figure it out?
Gonna have to look for some fabric!
Thank you- how do you make the outline etc., appreciated -
What do you line your matt with to keep it sticky? Great videos. Thank you in advance!
omgosh where did you get your raglan? 😍😍
Wonderful project. I love this tutorial. Thank you for keeping it real! Wishing you a super week. Hugs Susan
Awesome video. Could you share the image
Nice work but since you were overlaying the fabric anyway why not just cut it out as one shaped piece just slightly undersized from the overlay.?
Liked learning other materials can be used
thank you so much. A question didn't you put the shiny side down, to cut?
Hello, hope you are having a great day. Has any of your technique changed since this video? thanks

I use a deep cut blade
OMG.. I love your shirt!! I totally need that jersey shirt!!
I want to know how you did the outline cutout from the glitter vinyl. I have a design I cut in fabric and now I'd like to outline it in vinyl and I'm a Cricut virgin so I don't know how to do much. Thanks.
Do you wash the fabric before bonding?

Looks good can't wait to order some supplies to get me started
Hi there! How did you outline the word precious?
Woot! New tool for creating unlocked! Thanks Betsy!!! (Ps that's my mom's name too, not Elizabeth, but Betsy so
You have more patience that me! But it looks great x
So cute!
wonder if hot fix tape would help transfer this a little easier
could you use transfer tape on the fabric letters and place them with the heat press first before you put the htv glitter vinyl down?
Hi! Help needed! What size is your fabric cut verses your vinyl cut. I am trying to figure it out in Cricut Design Space and having a heck of a time. I can't figure out how to back lettering to make a vinyl backing. Any help would be great!
How did you create the font design, slice💁🏻?
So I did the exact same process, except I pressed the fabric first and then the HTV and my fabric peeled off. Is the trick to do it all at once?
Hey was wondering if you ever found a solution to this? Im trying to figure out how to transfer fabric in place too
did you make the htv larger so the fabric could fit
Can you keep the backing on the heat and bond or is it best to take it off?
Wish it was 80 here. We are back down to 50:60 here and rain. I want to put vinyl on canvas. What is the best method for adhering it and know it would stay?
What is that white thing in the back that holds your vinyl and what are good vinyl to use for t-shirts so the images or letters don't come off
Hey how do you get the precious part smaller and larger ? Can you do this in design space
it is better if we fuse fabric first and then vinyl ...it is very easy to Aline both..
Love it! What's the name of that font?
Soapy water will take that stuff off your mat and it will still be sticky when it dries :)
Questions please...
-The heat bond is applied to the wrong side of the fabric?
- Place heat bond side down onto mat?
-You don't mirror the fabric, when designing in software, correct?
Thanks sooo much
Vicki P that's correct
Vicki P it's on the backside of the fabric
Is the Fabric cut reverse or normal?
Normal, the reverse setting is for the HTV only.
If fabric placed on mat with bond/glue side up then reverse cut, if fabric side up DONT reverse. If using a carrier sheet from other htv(like an old glitter carrier sheet) then put fabric side on carrier (bond side up) then cut in REVERSE.
Love your projects
Awesome video! Can't wait to try!!
You mentioned your Matt was sticky because.... Could you tell me what your process is to make it sticky
They come like that
WHATTTTT!!!!!!!! I had no idea! AMAZING!
Why have no answers being made to these questions??
Love this idea a lot! thank you for sharing.
how did you cut that design?
What do you clean your mat with?
Where can I get the T-shirt guide?
How did you get them to overlap? When I designed my name in inkscape and sliced it out it is the exact size of the inside and no overlap. I would like the HTV to cover the raw edge of fabric.
Also, I did this recently and when I heated the heat n bond too long it came off. My shirt fell apart. 😩
💜 Beautiful
What font did you use to outline the material?
How well does the fabric stay in place with the vinyl after being washed? Would it be better to hand wash, or wash on delicate? I'm not sure if the fabric will eventually make its way out on the edges and start fraying. I'm brand new to vinyl, but have been sewing for a little while.
It’s still on the shirt 6months later
That's awesome. Thank you!
I have an easy press which temp would i need to do in order to do this
Thank you for all you share.
Hi Betsy. How do I know what fabric is suitable to cut on my plotter? Are all the fabrics found on Hobby Lobby suitable for machine cutting?
Emeka Echefu
the method using the heat & bond is used by sewers/quilters for doing aplique and is typically done using 100% cotton fabric; it's the basic fabric that you'll find in places like Hobby Lobby or Walmart, or if you have it JoAnn Fabrics
Hello and I would love to know what font this is.
What size is your circuit mat..?
If you would not have outlined the name? Would it still last as long? Have you considered tracing in puff paint?
I haven't tried it without the outline, I can do one and let you know
thanks! I am gonna go run out and get some materials to try this as well.
Where did you purchase your shirt?
She said Walmart
Ewwww goodness. The fabric not staying worked my nerves!!! Lol.
I thought it was just me😖. I had to fast forward cuz I couldn’t take it anymore 🤣
lol
I cant wait to try this 💕
Seemed like a lot of work while watching, but the end result was fab!
Do you know why the fabric would peel off. I used the heat n bond pressed it to the fabric for 13 sec on 330 and then on the material for 15 sec at 330
Adela Gutierrez mine did the same. I’m here searching for answers
That’s a long mat. Where did you get it?
www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00BSK745A If you watch you can get them on sale. I got a 2 pack for $10.99
witch one of the heat bond did you get, there is at least 4 there, and I was confused, so please let me know witch one you bought, for about $10:00 a yard
I believe she uses the original, it's red and has an ultra hold.
3.99 at Walmart or Joann’s
Beautiful!
Transfer sheet would’ve helped with layering
So it took 5 minutes to replace all the fabric letters back onto the back of the HTV, only to have them fall off again and another 5 to re-do it again. I don’t have the patience for that
