      it helps if you have very sharp scissors dedicated to only cutting fabric! They used to offer sharpening at Joann's but now you have to just buy new ones I guess.

    I don’t have an iron or iron tape, I use fabric glue! Works awesome.

    This is such a good idea... I have lots of maxi skirts I can’t wear as I’m too short lol and I’m not good at sewing at all! I might try this or just ask my mum to sew it for me lol

    You forgot some people have a larger backside which will lift the back off the floor higher. So you need to measure both the front and the back when pinning.

      No, it should be permanent if applied correctly.

    does this hem tape work on all fabric? we have a silky prom dress to shorten. i haven't seen it but it also has a lining I'm hoping I don't have to shorten. lining is 100% poly and dress is 95% poly and 5% elastin I think, not sure. the dress looks like silk.

      There is a hem tape for heavier weight fabric available by heat bond.

    This is just great. I’m wondering if I can use it for my skirt that’s just below the knee.
    Friend of mine help me make a suffragette costume. So it’s a white skirt that she just folded under and said small stitches. And the fabric kept getting threads, because it’s not rolled under.
    Do you think I could use this method by ruling the edge up again?

    Knit just curls. So if you cut it off it makes it's own hem! I have found this tape wears out over time!

    When you place the tape in between the fabric fold, is the plastic already peeled off of the adhesive tape? Also are there two layers of tape between the first and second half inch fold?

      There was no plastic to peel off on this tape, and there's just one layer of tape.

    sometimes dry cleaners will hem clothes for less than $5. but i love this idea.

      I've used the hem tape a couple times, and it's definitely heavy duty. I have one dress that has lasted 3 years through washes and plenty of wear 😊

    So you took the paper off both sides of the tape ? Because it says not to remove the paper but I'm guessing because you had it between two pieces of fabric, you removed all the paper tape first?

      There wasn't any paper backing on this hem tape.

      I wash the garment in a laundry bag, and check each time I press the garment. If I notice a hem coming loose, then I just stitch it in that area, but this tape does work well.

    The roll I got had a paper strip on it. Do I take the paper strip off then place it between the hemmed cloth then press down?

    do you have videos for the see-through material? I found this floral see through dress (with lining inside) however, it's too long! debating on whether I should return it or not!

      I doubt you would want to iron sequins as they are made of plastic and will melt! Use hand stitching for sequins dress IMO.

      probably, just lower iron's heat setting and put a thin towel between the iron and the dress.

      you'll have to find that fine line between not burning the fabric, and securing the tape. Start with low heat and less time, if it doesn't stick, go longer and hotter, being careful not to burn the fabric

      yes, just be sure to not burn it by not holding down a long time, as well as lowering the heat setting.
