    Love this, thank you so much! Quick question. In your video you said find a similar measurement from the marked pins to make them the same and then mark to cut. But when I do that, the back of my skirt is shorter than the front. How would do the measurements for the back of the skirt (I have a bigger butt ) to make the skirt the same length all the way around?

    Hi ! As a untrained empiric sewer I always press the fold(s) of the hem with the iron first, pin as I go and then secure it by hand basting (large long stitiches, which can esaily be removed after machine or hand sewing). Would not have the confidence or skill to sew with all those pins attached, having to take care to remove them as I go while keeping my eyes on the needle at the same time!

    Do I just free-cut and hope?
    Then, the chalk… I don’t have any that is narrow, only the regular size stuff. Same issue, crooked or misplaced when I go to draw the lines.

    Why do I have a leftover when hemming a circle dress? Is there a special way to sew circle dress compare to a pencil or straight dress? Thank you.

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  4 года назад +2

      What do you mean by leftover? Yes hemming a circle skirt can be different from a pencil or straight skirt. Your hem allowance needs to be smaller on a circle skirt. 1/8 or 1/4 rolled or flipped hem. A straight skirt can have any amount flipped up into it but you should always cut off the extra if it’s beyond 2 inches so it doesn’t weight down your hem. Hope that helped. 🎀

    So I had to wash my fabric and dye it. The whole bottom is frayed. I’m hoping to save by trimming it and do a hem.

    How do you do it without getting lumps?

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  Год назад

      It needs to be a narrow hem. Like 1/8 or 1/4.

    As I fold twice to hem and pin the fabric doesn’t want to stay in place 😭 an open tube starts to form and the pins shift.

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  3 года назад

      make your roll smaller and do not use pins. Just roll it as you sew. Thank you for watching Sew Anastasia & Happy Sewing!

    my skirt is always too short when I cut it the same amount at the back as the front!

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  4 года назад +2

      cheese pies like it’s too short in the back? That is a possibility depending on your body type. Since you know this you might want to consider blending your hem down 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch at the Center back.

    Has anyone done this? What is the stitch length? 2.0?

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  2 года назад +1

      You can use any stitch length. It really depends on how thick your fabric is but 2mm is standard. Happy sewing. Thank you for watching.
