    Thank you for this video! I’m new to sewing and bought a dress for $11 that’s beautiful and love the material but too long. Will try your method.
    ALSO, I loooove the top you’re wearing. Is it crocheted?
    I wish I can find a pattern to crochet one like that.
    Beautiful work, thank you 👏🏾

    This is such an awesome tutorial- thank you for this! I was very stressed about hemming a too-long maxi dress I bought into a knee-length dress, and this has given me the confidence to do it!

    This is very straight forward and I am going to attempt this for my new dress I bought that is amazing but a little long for me. A long dragging dress past my shoes doesn't work for me. I am planning on taking it up about 6inches. Thank you so so much for your content and tips!🐝🌸

    Hi, could you please teach us how to make the sleeve of a dress less puffy. I love my dress I bought but the sleeves are too puffy. Please help.
    Thank you in advance. The puffiness is on the top part

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  2 года назад +1

      Great suggestion! You can remove the sleeve and cut down the sleeve cap or take in the under arm if it is a giant puff rectangle.

      You can fold the whole thing up if it is a straight hem.

    Something which has baffled me for sometime since I first worked a sewing machine YEARS ago - at least 45 😉 - is this: The thread in your needle is to make the "TOP" stitches, right ? And, the bobbin thread is underneath. Well, why is it you sew with the outer side of your garments downwards where the bobbin thread is shown on the outside of the garment ? I realize sewing that way makes it easier to get the hem - line straight and sewn correctly. But, should you sew your piece where the top thread shows on the outside of your garment ? Or is it just a personal preference for each of us ? I hope I worded all this correctly so you know what I'm asking about. 🤪 Love your channel. Take care and God Bless. 😻❣️😍

      @SewAnastasia  4 месяца назад +1

      I think I understand what you are asking. You sew with the hem facing you so you can control it. The bobbin thread will be on the outside of your garment.

      @@SewAnastasia That's part of what I was asking. The other part is (which I just thought of right now) why is it called a "TOP STITCH" when it actually (or mostly) goes to the inside of your fabric ? 🤔 Guess I just have an inquiring mind and want to know all aspects of things I'm working on. Thank you so much for answering if you can. 😉

    Thank you! My dress has a lot of stretch and for some reason when I try to hem it using a straight stitch, it all ruches up really badly! Do you know why??

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  Год назад +1

      Yes. You need to use a zig zag stitch for knitwear. Even better would be a broken zig zag stitch.

    I'm trying to do this but my dress is a weird shape at the bottom so I'm too scared 😱. But to get is professionally done it will cost over $60 😢 dress didn't even cost $30 so I don't want to spend that much

      What kind of hem? Just follow the shape of the hem.
