Making a Full Tang Hunting Knife (Stabilized Walnut Handle)

- The blade was forged from 80CrV2 steel and I stabilized my own walnut to use on the handle. I still can improve my stabilizing process, but the wood turned out great. The advantage of stabilizing woods, is that the pores are filled with a resin which reduces swelling, shrinking, warping, or cracking. The stabilization also makes the wood waterproof, and easier to work and finish.
Perfect job !!!!!
I'm from Athens Greece. This is my hobby 🙂
Great hammer skills! 🤔👍 Beautiful knife. As an older smith I'm humbled to see younger bladesmith's with so much talent.
Thank you

Damn I love finding new knife channel. What stabilizing chamber is that?
It’s the one from TurnTex. It’s great
A true beauty 🙂👍
I love your Evenheat kiln - any regrets on the purchase? Thinking of buying the KH 418 (120V) for my small workshop.
I have no regrets! The touch screen controller would be nice though. Mine is 220 and it has been great. I’m sure 120 would work, just take longer to heat up. A good oven is a complete game changer
@@LiamJPenn Thanks for the quick reply. Great stuff bladesmith! Very impressed
You really know how to swing a hammer huh
I’ve got some practice
Was that second container you put knife in the same as first when you quenched it or was that something different? And we have the same belt grinder. I love their stuff. I just ordered some more accessories from them
I should’ve said something to explain all that ha. First I quenched the blade in warm AAA quench oil, then when it was mostly cooled(~100°f) I put it into a 400 degree low temp salt bath for the first temper. I also did a second temper in the oven. The reason for the salt is after quenching the heat treat oven is way too hot, and takes a long time to cool down. The salt let’s me temper right away
@@LiamJPenn oh! Interesting. I've not heard of that. Awesome blade btw
очень круто...!!!
Wheere can i buy one of your knifes
I am not currently taking orders, but I sometimes have available work posted on Instagram @ljpenn_
