It’s an old country southern thing, usually only Georgians know of it. It’s candied yams with pie crust baked in a deep pan. Its my sister’s favorite with extra juice n crust for her
Like you, I am from the old school era where we used our hands rather than electronic gadgets. Staying in the kitchen with our grandmothers were key to learning real soul food. Unfortunately, today's youth have grandparents under 40, so they both lack that old school teaching. Thank you for your willingness to share an OLD SCHOOL way.
I'm fascinated by this recipe. I am going to switch it up on Thanksgiving and make Sweet Potato Casserole instead of Sweet Potato Pie. I will most likely make one sweet potato pie just to keep down the drama.🤣
My grandad use to make this for us all the time when I was a child. It was soooooo good and this recipe takes me back. One thing he did differently was the crust. He used to make a light crust something between pastry and phyllo dough. I will definitely be trying your recipe. I’m 61 now and haven’t had this since I was a child.
Another thing people have gone away from is sweet potatoes made with pineapples. One of the most delicious combinations you can put with sweet potatoes
Never had sweet potatoe cobbler. Made sweet potatoe turnovers after I mashed them. I'll try the cobbler soon. I know it's wonderfully good with some fried catfish. I'm an East coast, So Cal make up all kind of Generational recipes person. 😂 Bless you greatly, Aunteelove🙏🏽⚘️
You reminds me of my mom, she use to make apple cobbler a lot, first time hearing about sweet potato cobbler, I think I,ll try it ,love sweet potato pie. ❤😊😊
Love this! I think mom used to add some fresh cream, from our cows, to her cobbler. Now I gotta do this for mom. She has dementia now and I cook for her.
Oh my word that looks so good I am going to have to try and make this I just came across your video and you are just so down to earth I love watching videos like this can I love having a new auntie
That looks so delicious 😋! I remembers of my mother. She always worked Peach 🍑 & Sweet Potatoes 🍠 with sugar & cinnamon on the top. You made a delicious dessert 🍮🍨!
My step mom made sweet potato cobblers and they were delicious. Haven't had one since. My mouth is watering. Thank you for sharing looks so delicious 😋
Hi Auntie, I've never heard of it, first time, but glad to see you prepare it. If I get up the nerve, I may attempt to make it one Sunday real soon! It looks delicious by the way. God Bless You!
Oh my goodness!!! I’m SO HAPPY that I found your video! I have been looking for this recipe for at least 10 years! My grandmother made this, but she died when I was too young to get the recipe! I can’t wait to make this! God bless you. ❤
One thing for sure , you are not kidding. That's some good eating. That is pure happiness to me. Thank you so much for this video and God bless you. 💙💚💛🧡❤
I’d never heard of sweet potato cobbler, but was intrigued so here I am watching and learning, funny but maybe making a spc was in the cards for me since I bought three huge potatoes just a few days ago thinking I’d just have them for dinner after roasting them. I love your beautiful apron too.
May I suggest that you mix all of the dry ingredients together, sugar, spices, and cornstarch. That’ll be less stirring and breaking of the potatoes and eliminate the extra water you’re mixing in with your starch.
Auntie, your sweet potato cobbler looks SO good!!! I have never has sweet potato cobbler before, but your looks delicious!! I have to try this myself!! Thank you for making this sweet potato cobbler for us!!!
Iam so glad to have seen your channel. I'm definitely going to do this sweet potato cobbler, it looks delicious 😋. Yes, I just subscribed. Thank you ❤️💗
I remember this as a child , my grandmother and my mother made this for us only thing they add raisins sometimes delicious thank you for the memories 😊
Much love to you! Simply perfection. This should have at least 10,000 likes because this is the way you make a crust and this is a hidden gem that everyone would love. I know many people like to buy store-bought crusts but nothing compares to making it from scratch. The technique for this that you showed is legendary. When I make my crusts I actually do everything with my heavy-duty fork and hands. My addition to this would be to use brown sugar, add lemon juice, and take some of those pieces of pie crust and put it inside the pie (almost like a dumpling). I'd have to do a huge pan of this because it wouldn't last.
Thx, yes sometimes I do add pie crust pieces inside, my grandmother used to do that too. I’ve used brown sugar before, but I’ve never used lemon juice but I’ve used a little orange juice, I’ll try the lemon juice. Thx for the suggestion❤️
@@AuntieKnowsKitchen You are an amazing cook. I sometimes use lemon and a little bit of frozen orange juice concentrate but the lemon juice or even extract adds to it.
