I couldn't find this with a quick skim on your channel, but it was the first video that popped up when I google'd it. This video was a freaking life saver!! Thanks Shootie!!
Nice presentation style and voice! I'm a guitarist wanting to implement EZD into my Pro Tools setup to use it for adding drums to my backing tracks and jam tracks. Keeping it as simple as possible do you think I'd be fine using just some of the EZD3 presets / songs as I don't want to get bogged down into more tech or learning yet another piece of software?
If you're avoiding a Grid Editor experience, I think EZDrummer's tools are best. Followed by Logic's Drummer. Anything else I would have the experience to recommend.
Dang, another goldmine of info! Question: when you dragged the song groves into pro tools, and muted all the groves in ezd3, did you use a key to select all?
I assume you saw exactly where I loaded it from? I assume you're on the recent version of Pro Tools or something reasonable recent? Typically people say what OS they're using when asking for support. I recommend reading this article, or more so looking for a newer version of this same article. I'd take it up with Toontrack support directly if non of this helps. Best of luck!
Great Shawn..... more possibilities for editing and "fiddling". Tells me it is worth spending time when you design your song and its workflow thinking about (1) how much you are going to want to change (2) how you plan on doing the changes and (3) what is the simplest way to accomplish it. Great tips thanks and highlights the value of knowing your DAW and its relationship to the plugin.
Samples: ruclips.net/video/mzn5mBjO97s/видео.html As for "Off Time". Velocity does not affect timing. Select your midi notes in the Grid Editor and check out "Randomize". A little goes a long way. It's in the Timing Menu/Button.
Great video! Just installed Pro Tools Intro since it came with my Focusrite interface, thought I check out what the fuss is all about. I couldn't find EZD3 och EZK2 as inserts. Found your video, created a STEREO instrument track and problem solved! As a Reaper user for a couple of years, Pro Tools feels clunky and old school. Reaper is much more intuitive I think. Just create a track and it takes care of the rest. Anyway, I'll test some things out, but I can't see Pro Tools replacing Reaper any time soon 😋
Glad the video was useful! Reaper replaced ProTools for me after 20 years of use. For certain things I still crack it open just due to my speed in ProTools. As time goes on, that probably won’t happen anymore though.
@@ShootieSchool True, getting used to a workflow becomes like a muscle memory. As an hobbyist, I haven't even got a decent workflow in Reaper yet, but since it's the "Linux" of DAW's, the sky is the limit. So I'll settle with Reaper and the Toontrack eco-system, it's great! 🤘
Can you just record audio from EZDrummer? ie- just set a loop on repeat and record while you jam your guitar to that? I can't seem to figure out how to record audio from EZDrummer. I can only do that MIDI control with it. Thanks for the vid- helpful bro.
When I switch EZD3 to multi-out in the mixer, and send each of the individual instruments to an Aux track, I can't solo them. I can mute them, but solo literally doesn't work. Even if I commit the track, the waveforms look right, but I can't solo. Only mute. Any idea what I'm dong wrong or am unaware of? I can bounce the tracks and import them back into the session and I get the behavior I want, but it seems a little silly to have to to all that. I'm trying to convert all the EZD3 outputs to mono stems. I'm hard panning L and R in the mixer to get each piece to a particular channel and assigning each to an aux track. Everything seems to work except soloing, which is a drag.
Derek. I created a stereo Inst with EZ on it. Then routed out to a few mono Aux tracks. I have no issue soling. What am I missing? Or have you opened a brand new fresh session to test yet?
@@ShootieSchool For clarity, the solo button lights up. It just doesn't mute the other tracks. But if it works for you then I am going to assume for now that my aging home computer is causing problems. I should back on my studio machine in a couple of days and I'll try it there. Thanks for checking for me!
I got it working. Had something to do with this "safe solo" business, I think. I don't really understand that yet. But I had to control click on the solo button on each Aux track to make it work. I still have much to learn.
I REALLY hope Toontrack hires you already. You are thee best. Thanks Shawn!!!
Thank you for saying!! Would be nice!

Great to hear!
You can't possibly know how helpful your stuff has been to me. I'm only two videos in and I feel like I earned a degree. Bless you!
That’s great to hear and welcome!
Awesome Shawn. Preferences. Of course!
Oh yeah, a goodie!
Thank you very much. Great video 👍🏻👍🏻
You got it!
Nice one! Pro Tools definitely has its own workflow.
Thank you, Scott!
Midi Editor, I always had trouble with that. Didn't ever understand it. Now I do. Thanks.
You got it!!

Thanks! Control or Command + A will do it.
I install Ezd3 but my protools does not show the plugging any way,,, I am getting crazy

You know it Brent. EZD is very flexable. But DAW integration opens up a lot of workflow optimization.
Can you add your own samples? And can you also add velocity and make it slightly off time for a realistic feel?

Yup. For now at least.
Hey Shawn, I re looked at this one, I didn't have 'Instrument' chosen from the drop down list.

Drag Midi File to the EZD3 Song Track
Loop beat "in" EZD
Hit record in Pro Tools
What if I have to have mono for my guitars and bass but stereo for ezdrummer?
That sounds typical. I would create mono audio tracks for the strings in this case.
