Barry always said he loved Roy's music from when he was young. I think he must have been in heaven to do this. It's so cool about Barry having Greenfields go to number 1 in the UK, hope it will get there here.
Thanks for another great reaction!! Barry said he listened to Roy Orbison’s CRYING over and over for hours after a girl broke up with him at 14. She wanted to go to a school dance with a classmate that asked her, because Barry couldn’t take her because he wasn’t in school. He gave her an ultimatum, and she broke up with him. He told her that she’d be sorry, because one day he was going to be famous!! He obviously is, and she’s still married to the other boy. Guess everything worked out. I believe Roy Orbison wrote most of his songs, so it must have been a real treat for Barry and Larry to have him sing one they wrote together, and for it to be included on a best of compilation of Orbison songs. Hopefully, one day they will release the version that goes with the video, that has more of Barry’s vocals, and also release the other song L & B wrote that they both sang on. When Barry did the album EYES THAT SEE IN THE DARK for Kenny Rogers, KR didn’t really want Barry doing noticeable backing vocals. They brought in Dolly Parton on Islands In The Stream, and the Gatlin Brothers to do backing vocals on EVENING STAR and BURIED TREASURE. Barry has released his demos for this album. Please react to Barry’s demo, and then Kenny Roger’s version, of EVENING STAR.
Larry in the middle is lead, yes they are bros. Barry is holding back because Roy is his child hood hero. Barry and Larry wrote this song. Beautiful, 💖💖💖💖💖. Thanks Chad 😍😍
Larry Gatlin was the main singer. The other Two were his Younger Brothers Steve and Rudy. One of their main hits was All The Gold in California. He and his Brothers had 33 top 40 hits. When their fame increased they became known as Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers.
Well Chad, you have outdone yourself on this one. Where did you find this??? Barry Gibb and Roy Orbison singing together! Good Lord! Amazing, crazy and wonderful.
@@buckeyeclayfan Isn't it great to find something wonderful, you didn't know existed? By the way, Larry Gatlin and Barry Gibb wrote the lyrics of Indian Summer.
I think Roy was having trouble learning the song, which Barry co-wrote with Larry. Barry being the producer stepped in only to help Roy out, his voice was faded out of the song apart from a small amount of backing vocals. It`s a fantastic recording, I had never heard it before last week and now I cant stop listening to it.
Barry loves country and has returned to those roots with Greenfields, just released. Run to me and Too much Heaven are great tributes. Loved that song too.
Gatlin Brothers were also on board by 'Buried Treasure' and 'Evening Star'. Couple of songs on Kenny Rogers album 'Eyes That See In The Dark', complete written and produced by Barry, who also did backing vocals.
Larry Gaitlan came to Nashville about 50 years ago and stayed with Dottie West, a country singer, along with Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. Beautiful!
Barry has to be giddy...he loves Roy Orbison. He wrote a song called Shadows on his IN The Now album....as a tribute to Roy. It really has the feel and sound of Roy song. Barry was always good at getting into another artist head ( so to speak) to write songs. Like when they wrote the songs for Barbara Streisand, etc. You should check out Shadows and all the other songs on there too.
Sooooooo awesome. Love the Gatlins (I believe Larry is their lead) ------listened to them a lot back in the 70's--80's. Love Roy Orbison !! Know most of his songs by heart (or I used to LOL) And of course--- there's no one like Barry Gibb---- and all the Gibbs!!! These three entities together ----WOW. I think Barry loves other people's talent and loves "showcasing" them. And I think he just loves joining in--- loves making an "awesome sound" Actually I think most musicians are that way. They don't care who they sing or play music with as long as they're making an awesome sound.I know I've played music with a good many people that I don't know and some of them I don't even know their names. But when the music is "right" it's just awesome !
Steve Gatlin is on the left, Larry Gatlin in the middle and Rudy Gatlin on the right. As I was moving back to Texas, looking in my rear view mirror as the mountains became smaller & smaller, tears flowing. I didnt want to leave. On the radio was the Gatlin Bros. Singing "Higher Isn't Always Better". I thought it was about the mountains, like a John Denver song. :-) Larry always had to be in the middle of everything.
Also in his younger days, Barry was busy in writing and producing songs for others. For instance 'Only One Woman', sung by The Marbles or 'Morning Of My Live' by Abi and Esther Ofarim. Both worth to check out! And I'll tell you, later on he wrote a song for Paul Anka, called 'Yo Te Amo, Do I Love You'. Paul sang it with his daughter Anthea and Barry did backing vocals. It's unbeleavable romantic!
Barry was not involved in the writing of Yo Te Amo, he was just singing backing on this track. It was originally writen by the follolwing: Alejandro Lerner, Yves Dessca, Alain Chamfort, Paul Anka, Michel Pelay and Maxime Piolot. It was first released by both Claude Francios and Paul Anka in 1971. The remake from Paul Anka, Althea Anka and Barry is from 1996
Barry is far above any other singer.. or other falsetto s.😘he was voted #1 falsetto EVER!!!!! No one can ty touch his vocals..luv 💞 our gifted Barry ... xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (ty).. .
Love this, and all the voices...but not enough of Barry...😍 Another talented Barry song. All these guys are fabulous singers. 3 more Gatlin Brothers...good harmony too. Larry, Rudy and Steve. Larry lead.
It’s actually: “before I woke up to the fact I was bawling” (as in crying) “you took me back to heaven again”….. The lyric sites always get this wrong.
you might notice my love for barry and his brothers on your other video comments but in this i have to say THE BIG O really does rule this song. The performances throughout are all stunning and fun to engage with but Roy really without effort on many songs reminds you why he's so beloved. Such a legend. Wonder if you've looked at and Travelling Wilburys. Great video again
Thank you for showing this to me. I loved this video and had never seen or heard about it. I love your reaction. By the way, that is Larry Gaitlan, lead singer of the Gaitlan Bros. Band. Mostly blues and country music. He is a prolific writer of songs that other people do.
The Gatlin Brothers were big. The Houston Rodeo featured them almost every year. The performances were always sold out in the Astrodome. Somehow they were connected to Gillies with the mechanical bull at this bar and ultimately John Travolta in Urban Cowboy.

A cover of a Bee Gees song that no one else would know about is Warm Ride by Graham Bonnet. A very sexy and kinda raunchy song. Bonnet has great voice and is Australian.
@@hereonthe3L I thought it would be fun for your channel as Bonnet has a strong voice and is a good contrast to the Bee Gees regular sound. Shows the versatility of their music in different hands. Plus it's a raunchy song and Bonnet channels James Dean!

I love Barry and Roy but the Gatlin Brothers totally ruined this song. They were completely out of tune. What a shame....it could have been a good song.
Hi Roxanne! I totally agree with you on this one. I love the looks Barry keeps giving Roy like he can't believe he gets to sing with him. Barry is always so humble .
This song (that your totally tin ear) claims that that the Gatlin Brothers ruined, was written by LARRY GATLIN and BARRY GIBB! They were very much in tune. Jealous much? You sound very arrogant! This is a very nice song sang beautifully by all who participated.

this is a recreation of the recording of the song, not the recording. You have to know this is made in the bee gees studio, called "middle ear studio"
