I saw roy orbison in concert when i was 12. I absolutely loved his music, so my parents took me to his concert, i was in the front row. A month later, he died. But at least i got to see him before he passed.
Roy was literally a legend amongst most singers, him,Elvis and Johnny Cash played with big bands alot with string instruments so had to learn to belt over them
Beautiful song with legendary voices! This song was written by Barry Gibb and Larry Gatlin and Barry suggested that this song would be great for Roy Orbison.
Orbison had one of the best, most beautiful, effortless voices to ever grace singing. What you see in the video isn't poor lip syncing or something, his voice was that powerful.
" i drove all night " you got it " god song by Orbison and even some With Traveling Willburys like "The en of The line " and " handle With care " should be Nice to se an reaction on off thoes. 👍
Roy Orbison is a 1987 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee.... There is a well done hologram touring show of him performing many of his hits on-stage. Its a great date night event! He did cover "Only You", but it's likely not the version of the song you are thinking of (The Platters essentially own that song)
You were right. Roy Orbison did make a version of the song "Only You". He was the dark haired man with Barry Gibb (sang the other high falsetto voice parts - One of the Bee Gees). The other three were the Gatlin Brothers.
Oh my. What a mixture of singers from very different worlds and types of music. Gatlin Brothers are country, Barry Gibb was famous with singing with his brothers, The Bee Gees. They are from the UK and popular during the disco music era. And Roy Orbison. Not sure what class he was put in, but famous in the days of old. My husband went to school with his children, as well as Johnny Cash's and June Carters. Back then, the enternainers children went to school with the rest of us, in public schools. lol Growing up just outside of Nashville, we all went to school with several of the country music family's children. I have never heard this song. Thanks, it was great.
I cannot believe you have this Gibb written song here! Barry Gibb is listed by Billboard as the 2nd greatest songwriter of all time! Second only to Paul McCartney. To me he is my#1 always and forever! Songwriter and singer, producer, performer! Everything. He's even a nicer person as I had the pleasure of meeting him in person 3x for photos, autographs, and conversation. Barry has always loved Roy Orbison and was influenced by him. Wow do I love Roy Orbison too. So sad he died way way too soon!
What an AMAZING collection of timeless performers! The Gatlin Brothers were an awesome gospel group, Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees, awesome harmonies! You should listen to some of their stuff! And Roy Orbison, an absolute icon! Crying, and Pretty Woman, 2 of my faves! You really should check out all of them independantly. They're all amazing!
Love this song very much. Barry Gibb one third of the legendary group The BeeGees. Roy Orbison( the one with black hair & shades) was also legendary singer with a beautiful voice.
Way to go, Roy! He could still hit those spot-on high notes. I grew up in a small west Texas town 9 miles from his small town. He was a few years my senior in age, so while I was still in school, he had begun a singing group called "The Wink Westerners", soon had a white caddy convertible and would drive around the school yards in the surrounding small towns. What a good time that was! All the guys in this video are/were great.
Good gawd, y'all! I've always enjoyed the Gatlin Bros for their wonderful harmonizing. But, Roy Orbison? His vocals were superhuman, and his featured singing is beautiful on this. Loved this vid!!
Awesome collection of talent right there. Barry Gibbs was the voice of the Bee Gees on most of their songs. Roy Orbison was one of those people with a true God given talent who shared it with everyone. You need to hear him sing Crying with K.D. Lang.
Man, Roy could SING! With more training he could have been an opera singer! I highly suggest you check out the Traveling Wilburys, a supergroup consisting of Roy Orbison, George Harrison (The Beatles), Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra).
Thank you for playing this and thanks to the person that suggested it. The Gatlins are just amazing. But Roy Orbison!!! What a heavenly voice !! I saw that some other fans already suggested The Traveling Wilburys.. Just a magic lineup of classic singers and musicians....It's really sad that three members of The Traveling Wilburys have now passed away but it is just so great that they got together for this project!
On Mother’s Day I broke my lower back and I was 8 days from my high school graduation . I was in church when it happened. I had just finished singing a special (not a dry eye in the house) music. I was walking down the platform when my heel caught a snag of carpet and sent me FLYING. When I landed I couldn’t feel my legs or anything below my waist. I felt prayers in that church. When the ambulance got to me I was scared especially when they asked if I could roll over and I couldn’t. Our local hospital said I fractured my L1-L5 vertebra. They sent me to a hospital 2 hours away who after an MRI looked square in my moms face and told her “Alana won’t ever walk again.” Lauren Alaina’s song “Like my mother does” makes me relate to that memory more than any song. That song is my Mama. So please Tye- do a reaction on that song!
That voice you was describing was Roy Orbison. You'll probably not hear anyone like him. Fantastic vocalist and song writer. And believe me Barry Gibb is no slouch either. He and his brothers(Bee Gees) are legendary.
I've never seen this! I thought I'd seen everything of Barry Gibb & the Bee Gees. The Gatlin Brothers were one of my fave country groups back in the day. A great song of theirs is Bitter They Are, Harder They Fall. Roy Orbison, Elvis' fave singer, is great. One of his best is Pretty Woman. And, the best of this bunch to me is Barry Gibb. In fact, I have been meaning to ask for a Bee Gees song. Too Much Heaven would be a great start. To me, they are 2nd only to Elvis. Thanks for another great video!!!!
Incredible! Oh my gosh Roy Orbison is one of my fave singers of all time!!! All of them r great but Roy just kills it! (Roy Orbison is the guy in the glasses hitting highest note.) U must do one of his songs. "Crying", "Only The Loney", "Pretty Woman". Great request & reaction!
WOW!!! Seeing and hearing Larry Gatlin and Roy Orbison and Mr Gibb together is a total blast. Three of the most beautiful male voices God ever gave to this Earth! I wish that Barry could have had a solo part as well, but Roy's performance was brilliant as usual. Thanks to Julie from a fellow Julie! Just to add to that, you should check out more Roy Orbison with "The Traveling Willburys" super-group. George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and my favorite, Jeff Lynne. Watch their music video "End of the Line" or "Handle With Care".
We found this Indian Summer video a few years back, have played it over and over. Major goosebumps over and over at the harmonies! Loved watching this amazing recording start sinking into your brain - know just how you felt!
Roy Orbison had a recognizable voice with a good 3 octave range. The Gatlins had beautiful harmonies and Andy Gibb was the youngest of the Brothers Gibb aka Bee Gees.
Barry Gibb man!! I love Chris Tucker stand up talking about chilling with him and Michael Jackson and him ruining the moment when they started singing together, and the Chris started singing. Michael got mad lol
I love the Gatlin Brothers, Roy Orbison, and the Bee Gees--but I have to admit that I have (surprisingly) never heard this song! I love it! I saw the Gatlin's at the Houston Rodeo in 1983--a great memory. Roy Orbison's (he and the Gatlins were from West Texas) classics include 'Pretty Woman' and 'Crying'. He's worth checking out, too.
Larry Gatlin has an unbelievable voice and he and his Brothers were HUGE in the day. You want to here an incredible “message song”? Larry doing “I’ve Done Enough Dying Today”
It seems that Roy did admire Tony Williams and the Platters. He did covers of both "My Prayer" and "The Great Pretender" in the 60s when he was with Monument records (both are on youtube)
I was watching Barry Gibb and Roy Orbison looking over their shoulders and smiling and grinning at the other guys because Barry and Roy knew they were going to kill it. Makes me laugh every time I watch it lol ❤️
everyone bows down to Roy - he was Elvis' favourite singer as well, the same awe you see here the Traveling Wilbury's also felt about him....he does make it look effortless, i read somewhere that when recording vocals they had to check to see if he was even singing as he wouldn't make a big deal out of things, but when they played back sure as eggs it was there and it was nailed :)
Thanks again, from this old Boomer! It's fun watching you in the discovery of all this talent. God Bless you in all you do. Maybe you can review Roy Orbison "Crying", or The Beegees and Celine Dion "Immortality".
A fantastic song done with only the best Vocals. A bit sad that people seem to forget the GREAT Tony Williams lead singer of the "Platters" who sang so well on "Only You" , "Twilight time" and "Enchanted" to name just a few. On a side note RUclips is the only place you can hear "Indian Summer" not for sale or in Juke boxes.
Hey, thanks for making these vids. I like your no-nonsense reaction style. Also, Roy Orbison is a singer you should definitely check out when you feel like it, especially if you like Elvis Presley, and I know you do. :) Anyway, health and fortune to you and your loved ones!
Love this song LOVE the Gatlin Brothers, Mr. Roy and Mr. Berry. I don't remember every hearing this song. So of course I google it! LOL because this is a very unusual combo of artist. So I discovered it was written by the lead singer of the Gatlin Brothers, Larry Gatlin and Berry Gibb. Mr. Roy did sing only the lonely. He has a three octave range. Elvis (not your dad the other one) Presley called Mr. Roy "the greatest singer in the world." That is mighty high praise!! The Gatlin Brothers are really brothers and they also sing as a Gospel trio. I think my favorite song of theirs is "All the Gold IN California" it was one of their first hits and when I hear their name I automatically think of that song. Mr. Roy first song I think of is "Pretty Woman." Berry Gibbs I think of the BeeGees movie sound tracks first on to pop in my heat "Saturday Night Fever."
Sorry I didn't realize I was in my daughter's account since she has her own laptop. I finally realized I wasn't logged in on my computer. I don't know where I was in your videos that I commented on when I switched to my account. So if you see Lillie Wyatt it's really me for just last night before 2:30am. Who knows maybe she will start watching also aftshe discovers she commented. LOL 🤣. Don't log into your accounts on Mama's computer unless you want her looking. No really I can check her computer anytime I want because I'm the parent. But in all honesty we have a pretty good Mama daughter relationship. I'm very blessed when it comes to her most of the time. I mean she is a teenager so there are always a few bumps in the road.
They don’t makes songs like this anymore. Beautiful lyrics
I saw roy orbison in concert when i was 12. I absolutely loved his music, so my parents took me to his concert, i was in the front row. A month later, he died. But at least i got to see him before he passed.
You are o lucky man !
Roy was literally a legend amongst most singers, him,Elvis and Johnny Cash played with big bands alot with string instruments so had to learn to belt over them
Barry Gibb must be very happy, the project was a success
Beautiful song with legendary voices! This song was written by Barry Gibb and Larry Gatlin and Barry suggested that this song would be great for Roy Orbison.
Orbison had one of the best, most beautiful, effortless voices to ever grace singing. What you see in the video isn't poor lip syncing or something, his voice was that powerful.
Roy Orbison is most known for singing "Pretty Woman", but he's done a lot more than that with "Blue Bayou" "Crying", and others. Old school stuff!
" i drove all night " you got it " god song by Orbison and even some With Traveling Willburys like "The en of The line " and " handle With care " should be Nice to se an reaction on off thoes. 👍
