It's sad that so many people are now discovering these great singers after they are no longer with us. Roy R.I.P.
Welcome to the greatest voice of the R&R era. Many essential recordings; I'll recommend "Running Scared", "In Dreams" and "It's Over" for starters. Each stand by itself as works of genius.
Sinatra and Orbison are in the discussion, but I choose Elvis
@@zeppelinfan9360 Elvis is my Man ... but Roys vocals are a different level .....so much range and clarity .... Elvis had some good range as well , but not like Roy ..Difference is Elvis was the whole package.
Both are supreme vocalists ...love them Both
@@zeppelinfan9360 Nah, not me. Elvis was the total package..a great singer himself as well and Frank Sinatra was a great singer but Roy Orbison was a greater/better singer than both. Honestly, Roy Orbison is probably the best and greatest male singer of all time and that's not an exaggeration.
@@zeppelinfan9360 Elvis was the king, but even he said Orbison was the greatest singer in the world.
Elvis called Roy Orbison the Greatest singer who ever lived!
For anybody who says or thinks they can sing like Roy Orbison. Guess what? NOBODY sings like Roy Orbison.
The Man in Black had one of the greatest voices in Rock & Roll history said Elvis Presley. This song written by Roy Orbison was recorded back in (1961).
Eighteen years later in (1978). Don MacLean would perform this song taking it into the top ten on Billboards top 100.
Roy Orbison is a true legend and one of the most respected and liked artists ever...
the man in black was Johnny Cash. You can't and won't find anywhere Roy was ever referred to as the man in black by anybody ... And certainly not by Elvis
i would argue that don macleans version is actually an improvement of orbisons original, as is chris isaaks version of 'pretty woman'. both worth a reaction, guys. :P :)
@@UseByDate-Expired cash wasn't rock and roll. Yes, orbison was called this in his time. Cash took over the title later in his career.
@@roydownes2458 You'd be wrong.
@@julianmarsh1378 i stand by my opinion.
when asked what it felt like to be the greatest singer of all time, Elvis responded, "you'll have to ask Roy Orbison"
The golden voice of Roy’s will make anyone cry especially if you knew his heartbreaking tragedy of his family!
Roy Orbison's voice gets me every time. He's a legend. Please also do "Pretty Woman" if you haven't already.
Pretty Woman is played ad nauseum.
Yes! It is a must! Legendary song! Classic.
@@williegordon9188 sometimes, yes
loved the drummers on that tune
the only man that makes me cry
His later versions live are excellent, slightly slower and even more evocative, and his duet with Kd.Lang is exceptional.
Roy sang sadness from the heart. He experienced so much tragedy, his wife died in his arms following a car accident and later two of his children died in a house fire while he was on tour in Europe. Someone asked Elvis what it was like having the greatest voice in the world and he stated he would have to ask Roy Orbison.
100.
This Roy Orbison song always brings tears 😢💗🎸 Listen to his duets with k.d. Lang, they are GOLD 💎🥰
Elvis, once said.., Roy voice is 1 of most beautiful voice he has heard.
Roy Orbison has many great songs, “Only The Lonely”, “Blue Bayou”, “Oh, Pretty Woman”, and also finished his career in with Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, George Harrison, Jeff Lynn, Roy Orbison, (The Traveling Wilburys)
Yes I always felt teary-eyed after hearing this song. Roy Orbison had such an incredible voice and he could really affect you with his powerful vocals. Thank you for your reaction to the great Roy Orbison. 👍🇨🇦
You guys are listening to one of the greatest male vocalist ever. His voice was amazing.
Elvis Presley toured with Roy Orbison and stated Roy was the best singer he had ever heard.
Yes, that song really touches the soul. Roy Orbison had such a beautiful voice. It soars, to the highest peak and then just when you think he is going to run out of breath he adds this heart wrenching cry to the end of the note. I also love the song "Pretty Woman". That is another great one, its a happy, song and it is so cute in this one he growls. So funny and sweet.
and he never looked like he was working either
Shawn & Mel, you'll love his "Only the Lonely (Know the Way I Feel)"!!! You'll also love his vocals on "Handle Me With Care", when he was in the supergroup The Traveling Wilburys!!
Handle with care .The TW got the name of the song from a crate in a dressing room that said handle with care
@@sallybannister6224 Just a little thing; George Harrison said they were in Bob Dylan's garage studio, when George spotted the box that said "Handle With Care."
Watch the video of the TW End of the Line. They had laid down the vocals and were preparing the video when Roy Orbison died. In the video there are some photos of him and a rocking chair with a guitar
This man had a tremendous amount of heartbreak in his life. His voice is perfection.
I bought that song as a teenager and played it dozens of times in a row, day after day after day. One of the early rock era's most spectacular songs and performances.
Elvis said Roy Orbison had the best voice of all performers. That's a huge compliment from a man with a voice like his.
Beautiful song.
Roy was one of my favorites growing up. I have his vinyl records in my collection. I cherish our memories from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 21st century. I want to lesve my memories to my grandchildren. ❤❤❤
K D Lang singing this solo as a tribute to him after he passed is out of this world bone chilling amazing!!
Got to meet Roy in 1988 when my brother produced a concert by him about 5 months before he died. He still sang this (and all his other songs) incredibly. It was awesome to see and hear.
lucky you
I was blessed to see Roy Orbison in concert in the mid-80's, a true legend! He suffered great loss in his life, he knows to the bone for what he sings.
Roy Orbison the Legend. Other GREAT songs by Roy are
"Only The Lonely" "In Dreams" "Running Scared" "I Drove All Night"
This song was about his Wife and two young Children who died in a tragic House Fire.
The man is such a legend that he did a special called "Black and White Night" and he had people who could fill a stadium as headliners playing and singing backup on stage with him and the audience was full of A list celebs.
When you guys get a chance, you should definitely check out the full video of Black and White Nights. Too long to do a reaction to, but you won't regret seeing all the greatness on stage with Roy. Mind blowing.
I have that on VHS.
One of the greatest albums, never gets stale.
Roy had one of the greatest singing voices of all time.
If you loved “Crying”, you would also love him singing “The Comedians” . ✌️
The comedians is amazing
If they do Comedians, they need version with lyrics
@@fredmarinovich5477 Why ?
@@bpfromowc One of my favorites by him, but unless you've heard the song seve4al times you will miss too many key words
Elvis said orbison was his favorite, so that's something!
Y'all NEED to listen to this song with K.D.Lang singing with him. It is next level. Two of the greatest voices together! I promise you will love it.
Yes! a MUST listen!
You have to
Yes. K.D. Lang - this song - Fabulous! She is quite a talent.
I agree, but K.D. Lang singing this song alone is also top notch as well.
I never heard it with her, but now Im going to look it up.
Love you guys !! One and Only, Roy Orbison !! Never off key !! and sang 4 octaves...
His voice was the envy of many singers.
What A Beautiful song. I was 13 yrs old when this hit the charts back in 1961. Great Job.
Roy Orbison singing evergreen is a great piece of work.
Omg I have to go look at that right now
I taught Roy Orbison's son at Castle Heights Military School. It was a sad day when Roy was taken away from us.
When I was a kid, this was the first song that actually evoked sadness from me...and I still tear up listening to it...
I was about to buy a cover-single of this song, and my mom asked 'why would you do that? we have the original." So I listened to thst one and I got hooked instantly.
One off the greatest singers ever.Pure class
just hear this voice and it teleports you to another universe where your brain relaxes from the day you just had.
I really enjoy watching real, true blue music lovers appreciating all this stuff.❤
This hit the charts when I was in high school (class of 62) and it's still incredible. He's timeless.
I grew up listening to Roys songs through my dads record collection. His favourite singer. I always crh listening to this song.
As a Brit ,born in the late 60's my parents were Roy Orbison fans so I grew up listening to his music.. The man had the voice of the Angel Gabriel.
I got the chills watching you guys getting the chills with this classic. The Everly Brothers "Let it be Me" is another beautiful song with the "chills" factor.
Oh yes. I love that song. Everlys aren't reacted to much, either...
Roy Orbison wrote many songs for the everly bros.
That song is a tear jerker.
You never hear a song like this anymore, Amazing vocals.
Roy is another one of a kind voice. Roy knew that pain and I love that voice.
Yes. I cry every time I hear this song. I adore Roy Orbison.
I cry Every. Single. Time. You two are awesome! I love your reactions so much!
Roy Orbison was a legend. His broken heart songs hit me right in the feels, and his voice was like no other. Some other great songs to react to:
Blue Angel
Only the Lonely
It's Over
In Dreams
The story about his glasses was twofold. He was painfully shy. He also had terrible vision and needed to wear his glasses to see anything. One gig he either lost or broke his regular glasses and so put on his prescription sunglasses. It ended up adding an air of mystery to his on-stage persona and he felt more comfortable in public wearing them since they hid his eyes. Due to his shyness, he basically stood motionless on stage while performing his songs, and the sunglasses just added something to his look. Thus it became a part of his persona and he wore sunglasses from then on.
MOST of Roy Orbison's songs make me cry. ESPECIALLY THIS ONE, because I have LIVED the lyrics of this song, and after 25 years I am STILL not over it, I STILL LOVE the person I was married to for 24 years (and 6 years before that). My heart was badly broken when he left, and now he is deceased.
Roy did "You're Not Alone Anymore" with the Traveling Wilbury's as a solo. Goosebumps.
Yes! This song is a hidden gem of the Traveling Wilbury’s. It features Roy’s range and vocal talent.
Bless all you young folks for bringing this music back & showing musical history.
There's also a duet of this song he did with KD Lang. Very worth a listen, it will give you goosebumps.
I heard him in person a few times back in the 60's.He liked to entertain at smaller clubs and he liked Toronto. He was one of the greatest. R.I.P.
I am so glad that you younger people can appreciate the old songs. I'm headed for 71 and remember almost all of his songs that got air play.
He was not blind. He originally wore Foster Grants so he could watch the audience past the bright lights and liked them so much they became his trademark. -- other than that amazing voice.
OMG one of the best voices ever , you gotta listen to more of his songs ,so great
I love Roy Orbison he has written, my older sister and future brother in law had all of his records when I was a kid
Had to hear this tune today. Oh that tom tom. NO ONE had a voice like Roy, God bless him. Thank you.
The man could write and perform. Even if you go see live Tubes of performances it is always PERFECT just like this.
Nice reaction.
Y'all be safe.
His concert in Black & White is amazing. See how many artists you can name who are there just to be able to sing with Roy Orbison. The very definition of GOAT!
Roy Orbison is said to have a voice with a very huge range. RIP
.... and don't forget that Roy Orbison also WROTE this song, and PLAYS on this song... He was a MONSTER talent who I have loved for decades... Respect !!
Now you guys MUST hear KD Lang's version she is perfect and Roy even preformed it with her on many occasions.
One of the greatest singers of all time.
Roy has such a great voice and was such a great performer that nobody ever wanted to perform after him at a concert. Even the Beatles didn't want to do it for two reasons. First they were huge fans of his and wanted to listen to his set, and second, the audience didn't care who followed Roy. Once he was finished so was the audience.
Hey, stop staring at me will ya'? I got something in my eye! Ok?!
Masterpiece. No matter how many times you listen to it, then forget about for years, then listen to it again... always gets ya. Now I gotta go wipe my eyelids.
One of the greatest voices of our time. His catalog is so worth diving into….
A timeless classic. Our grand-children will also be amazed in their reactions...
Simply one of the best voices in Rock and Roll history. Please do a reaction to my favorite Roy Orbison song, " In Dreams".
This man was one of the best vocalists and song writer of his time.
The most beautiful voice of all time.
He has such an amazing voice. His music melts my heart. Mel and Shawn ya'll are my favorites. I love watching ya'lls reactions. ❤❤❤
The most powerful voice the industry and us has had the fortune to hear
I was priveliged to here this live. It was goosebump territory for sure. I was front row centre. Very emotional and moving.
Now you know why he was one of Elvis' favorite singers-of course they were at Sun Records along with Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Charlie Rich.
Roy had many great songs with a voice that can make your heart melt.
There is a slower version of Roy's Crying, with K.D. Lang, and it is so hauntingly beautiful, but sad. 💔
Roy was and is one of my favorite singers. His voice is pure and has always given me chills. I truly hope you guys will listen to his entire play list...he'll make you feel deeply. It really warms my heart to see you - the younger generation keeping this music alive. Great job guys.
Anything that Roy sang is beautiful! He was one of the best!
Running Scared is one of his songs where he could reach the high notes too!
A wonderfully touching high school reunion favorite. This and 'Before the next teardrop falls'
Orbison had a one-of-a-kind voice with a three-octave range and what one writer called a 'glass-shattering falsetto.
Elvis Presley said that Roy Orbison was the most beautiful voice he’s ever heard.
A voice like no other.
He wore dark glasses due to shyness & stage fright. This song shows off his incredible voice - one of the best male singers in modern music.
Actually he had an eye condition and the stage lights bothered his vision.....that is the main reason why he wore the sunglasses.
I loved your reactions! When I see the amazement on your faces, it's like hearing this song for the first time. Roy had one of if not the most beautiful voices ever.
This was my era music. So clean , so pure, so sad… Thank you for selecting this to react to…
If there is one version of this classic song you must listen to, it is K.D. Lang's (who re-recorded the song with Roy as a duet in 1988), performance of this song, at his tribute concert on February 24, 1990 (posted on here by clevelandlivemusic). She received a 4 minute standing ovation (she has basically inherited the song). When Roy was inducted into the songwriter hall of fame in May of 1989, his widow Barbara asked K.D. to perform the song on that show.
nope. it is still his song, young'un.
this song with KDLang is something else!!! that man had a awesome voice!!!
You NEED! to hear this song with Roy singing a duet with K. D. Lang. After Roy's death she sang Crying in tribute brought the house down.
My dad was "kissing cousins" with Roy Orbison. Roy's paternal aunt married my dad's uncle--my grandfather's brother. I grew up hearing this song, but listening to it with you guys was the first time I ever FELT it! I really appreciate this video. Thank you so much for sharing ❤
Let's not forget his early hits on Sun records,Sweet and Easy to Love,Claudette,Devil Doll,Rock House,Domino,Go Go Go,Problem Child,Rock House,It's Too Late,Mean Little Mama,Trying to Get to You,You're Gonna Cry,This Kind of Love,You're My Baby,I Like Love ,and Ooby Dooby..Roy Orbison played lead guitar in all of his Sun Records recordings, creating a breakthrough sound which became such a big part of rockabilly music.
He had a bunch of beautiful songs like this.
One of Roy's best songs. Love Roy
Any song by him is a gem. Simply the best .
He is one of my lifetime favorite artists! I remember seeing him on the Ed Sullivan show and lord did I have a big crush!! ❤️❤️❤️🙏
I love watchin' u guys enjoying this as u are. Bless! RIP Roy!
The line that really kills me is when she holds his hand so tight and wishes him well, but she has no idea how he feels . This man didnt just have an incredible voice, but he wrote such awesome lyrics. No, he wasnt blind . And BTW, he got me almost crying .
I love his haunting voice! And this song :)
Thanks for starting this one over. I love love Roy Orbison. When I was young I bought his 45 records. Awesome
Gives me the chills all over again, seeing your appreciation of his music.
