  • This episode of Star Wars the Acolyte IS A NEW LOW! It's almost impressive how poorly written, shot and acted this episode is. Shocking.
Take a seat and let Marko and Dan run you through it all.

It will somehow turn out to be the jedi. But the ultimate plot twist , osha was working with mae from the very beginning. Osha job is to infiltrate and reel the jedi in. Trying to do a the witch part 1 : subversion kinda plot twist they are.

We made so many jokes about that while watching! Such an insane thing to do. Like if his idea was to make her want to be a Jedi it's exactly like a cop going to a school and saying "hey kids, be a cop we get this dope gun! Here have a go!"

I'm an animator and I've worked on a couple female produced projects and the MO is the same as the Acolyte. It's always a matriarchal, tribalistic society with not a man in sight and little explanation as to where they came from, where all anyone does is practice some form of witchcraft and are singularly invested in the strong female lead's life choices. No fisherwomen, builders, or scope of a greater world around them/technology they use and there's always a big coming of age ceremony. It's honestly hilarious.

While I think Star Wars discourse is some of thr worst online, this episode was so poor I feel compelled to throw my hat in.
The episode on all fronts was, frankly shit. Acting, blocking, camera work and its overall ideas. I dont know how someone could watch this and be pleased. Are their Osha and Maeve stans happy to get this backstory? Id be curious what the defence will be

I find it dumb to try to dunk on people like Critical drinker in this scenario since they were literally right and said this shit was gonna happen while everyone else called them toxic grifters.

    • @hgfd_hgfds
      @hgfd_hgfds 3 месяца назад +1

      consider:
-channels like critical drinker, nerdrotic, disparu, etc have built an audience around 'x is bad and i'm angry about it' content, then found out they can't honestly praise anything because then they don't get clicks, so 99% of the time they'll complain about literally anything, good or bad, to keep their audience/relevance/income around, ie 'grifters'
-even if they have a point about x being bad (cough cough acolyte) any actual criticism of the bad writing tends to come second to implying/outright saying that it's bad specifically because of the demographics of the people who made it, ie 'toxic'
'toxic grifter' is an accurate description of those kinds of channels. watch and enjoy their stuff if you like, but don't deny that's what they are.

1:34, SLICE is another term for basically hacking a computer. Often you hear sliced in many of the Star Wars games, like Battlefront 2, Jedi: Fallen Order etc

Was really surprised by this episode. The first drop had me kind of hopeful for the series. Honestly like the kung fu Jedi stuff, and I am always up for another non-Jedi character so Osha kind of won me over.
But WOW did they kill that good will with this one. Totally agree that the writing and characters in this are just plain awful. Immediately disliked everyone they introduced, and what they gave us here has actually changed my mind about the characters in the present. My god, the kid versions of these twins... I don't think it's the actors faults either. There's just so much about this that is wrong. Could not believe that little fight the two girls had while they were in training, and then the whole ceremony with the out of sync hand waving and the silly little wail that that one sister gave out. Wow, so insane that this got this far without someone calling out how silly it all is.

I thought the whole point of this episode was to show that lesbians can have just as shitty relationships as everyone else, and if your partner is a pretentious ass, who cannot parent two children she “made”, Jedi CPS need to step in and make things right. So, once again, Jedi’s balance the universe…. Heheheheh

Being an acolyte is the same as being a padowan. The word means follower. Being an acolyte does not prevent one from being a Sith. Leslye Headland has referred to them as Sith(s).
Of course, the show is a prequel to the Phantom Menace, so ANYTHING that happens in it is irrelevant. In 100 years, there will be Jedi and Sith, but no Witches and NO THREAD!

  • @oneclout6643

Are the writers just watching Wheel Of Time and trying to rewrite Star Wars as that? There's a line between referencing and plagiarizing, and they're using it as a jump rope.

Now I can get with this theory. That Mae actually did die in the fire and the other sistet(can’t remember her name) has a split personality. So she’s is the one killing the Jedi. That’s why she missed with the stun gun. That would explain why the twins as adults have the SAME exact haircut. Otherwise, having the same hair all these years later makes no sense. It the problem with this theory is that the end of episode 1, “Mae” met with the Sith. And the other twin was in custody. But with this show, who knows. Prob overlooked that.

There's something about this that doesn't get talked about enough. Yes, this is a woke show, yes it breaks a lot of SW conventions, yes the writing is terrible.
But I want to put the focus on the cinematography. There's no great shots. On top of having bad acting and bad dialogue lines, it _looks_ bad. When the witches are outdoors doing... whatever it is they're doing, there's no wind, nobody's hair moves an inch. It looks so artificial and obvious that they're not in an actual outdoors location. It's just them filming with a blue screen behind them it feels like. Even if the show was otherwise good, this point would still annoy me

I thought that the meditating guy that commit suicide by poison had "accidentally" killed all of them that's why he took the poison because he felt guilty. (No jedi around felt any disturbance in the force apparently)(jedi can be blinded by dust now so...)
I don't watch the show, just the reviews but I think it's suggested. I've never seen a story so stupid in my life.
The vilain kill all her family then go on killing spree to avenge the family she destroyed.
Is there no asylum in that galaxy ?
I have also no understanding of how the witches are in hiding of the galaxy but jedis just arrive on their NEW planet to test the children ... HOW ?
