To be fair, considering that Obelisk's hologram is so powerful it slightly damages you with the knockback, and also considering that these holograms have real life-sounding 3-d effects and audios, having Obelisk against me for the very first time would be... Kaiba is a descendant of the pharoahs advisor. So he has some mystic powers himself. Just as how Yugi can magically make the pharoah appear when he is about to die, Kaiba can make the impossible possible.
Battle City rules state that high level monsters need to tribute monsters in order to be normal summoned. But not in the dark alleys. Not when you have money.

I hate how he simps over his brother. Kaiba literally harmed an old man, betrayed his company's executives, and refused to provide medical attention during the tournament...and Mokuba still treats Kaiba like he's Leon from Pokémon. In the manga, he even straight up tortured Mokuba, and Mokuba just forgives him? I still have a grudge against my jackass brother for saying absolutely nothing to me and mooching off of the steak dinner my parents took me out for when I graduated highschool in 2020, but Mokuba straight up is put through SAW by his own brother and sees how far his brother will go to to get what he wants...and is still "Wait to go, big brother!" and "You're still no match for my big brother!".
I know how kaiba beat him in one turn. He used pot of greed. Then he played lord of D. Then he used flute of dragon summoning to summon 2 blue eyes. He then used double summon to sacrifice all 3 monsters to summon obelisk. Then he used a spell card to attack on his first turn.

He didn't do anything to the shop, at least not in the anime, and only ripped the Blue-Eyes "so it wouldn't be used against him". Still, very brutal and unnecessary. Also, there's the bullying to Joey, though it could be since he was a former bully and Kaiba forgives no one.

This is pretty great indeed. First, he sabotages the guy's deck by giving him a bunch of trash cards. Then he cheats by summoning Obelisk on his first turn with no tributes. And the icing on the cake is the guy can't even call for a judge because it's Kaiba's tournament.
I'd assume that they actually dueled and they didn't show the duel for time reasons. Kaiba has shown he has the methods to summon Obelisk in a turn if he needs be.

Yugi may not be Atem, but he's shown to be a very capable duelist on his own. Afterall, he managed to beat Atem in a duel to set him free and he did pretty well in Darkside of Dimensions too.

I like how when designing the augmented reality children's card game he wanted to make you fear death when your life points went down so he added shock cables to the Duel disk so you felt pain and incorporated knockback into the system so when you get hit you can get yeeted as well.
Kaiba being a reincarnation of an Ancient priest, but not knowing, nor believing it, actually explains a lot of unexplainable sh** he does. Like summoning whirlwinds out of thin air, defeating disintegration magic with only confidence, and using a card when it doesn't exist by drawing it from the hround.
Fun fact: Dark Side of Dimensions isn't based on the anime, and unlike the 4Kids dub, in no version of the manga did Kaiba ever deny that Egypt magic exists. He just also didn't give a f. He was gonna win a children's card game. There was no proof other than him proving his skill as a duelist for him. Hence why DSoD Kaiba just casually made tech that directly counters ancient Egypt magic ran directly on a fuel source of his limitless ego, which as the abridged notes, probably has reached planetary scale by this stage.

Here is why Kaiba didn't break the rules: 1. You can normal summon ANY monster without tribute, beside you are playing with "Advanced Rules", which were introduced later in the series and then became the foundation of the real life game (OCG/TCG). 2. Egyptian Gods have different effects in the anime/manga from the real life game. They don't have a Summoning Condition. Tributing 3 monsters came from the fact that in the anime/manga you needed 3 monster to summon a lvl 10 monster in a duel with advanced rules. PS: I can recommend the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga which is the source material for the anime and card game. Takahashi had initially other ideas regarding the game. It was the anime and later Konami that established the known game rules in OCG/TCG.

Kaiba probably used Card Destruction to send L.O.D. to the graveyard, then used Monster Reborn to bring it back and used his Flute of Summoning Dragon to summon two dragons and sacrificed 3 of the monsters to summon Obelisk and probably used a spell card to attack in one turn. That or Kaiba did screw the rules. xD

If he was the first to go, obelisk wouldn't have been able to attack and would have been sent straight back to the graveyard after the end of his turn due to its special ability. If he had gone second, presumably his opponent would have summoned a monster onto his field, and obelisk wouldn't have enough attack points to wipe out that monster AND the rest of the guy's life points. #NerdOutMoment

zubhanwc3 It's Possible with The Nekroz Deck. Lucky I was using Hieratic Dragons which allowed me to Summon Hieratic Sun Dragon combined with Blue Eyes White Dragon and Hieratic Sun Dragon allowed me to clear the field by tributing other Hieratic Dragons which means Level Eight Normal Monsters are Special Summoned though their attack becomes 0 which still means XYZ Monsters which means another Hieratic Sun Dragon for a direct hit at my opponents life points. BTW I almost lost as all my Monsters either needs a Tribute to Summon or another Hieratic Dragon to special summon and Mirror Force gave me the breathing time I need. Nekroz Decks are a pain because they have effects that activate in the hand such as Negating an attack, Drawing extra cards, Reducing your 3000 plus attack to 0 and Giving and Attack boost of 1000 and negating the effects of Monsters summoned from the extra deck and let's not forget banishing your cards in your graveyard.

Decade yea people need to understand that kaiba is like the 3rd best duelist after yugi and atem. This is barring villians like dartz etc. The guy he dueled was fodder and only meant to show off obelisk. The way kaiba had his deck stacked for battle city was unbeatable barring pis from yugi. He could literally summon obelisk in about 3-4 or quicker; using his xyz tank components or a flute of summoning dragon + quick play card to quickly summon 3 blue eyes to sacrifice for obelisk. All of this is easily 1-2, maybe 3 turns.
+Josh B No. There was never a full duel scene of this. It was an insignificant duel with kaiba dueling a nobody, so all they did was show how it ended with kaiba destroying him with obelisk. The problem is, so many people took this scene too literally and thought that kaiba actually drew and played obelisk on the very first turn.

Of course, 4Kids wanted to drill in the fact that the Shadow Realm, their fantasy suffering dimension that somehow is better than death, is real so they had this dude be Kaiba's old self that was sent to the Shadow Realm before Pegasus brought him back.
To be fair, apparently, that was Kaiba's "evil side" that did that. After Yami mind crushed him, he actually expelled the evil out of him and that evil Kaiba would be brought back later in the Duelist Kingdom arc thanks to Pegasus
So what? Look at all the times YuGi does it. Most notably in the Movie when he does it twice. Once in the opening simulation...yeah he activated Obelisk's infinite strength ability on Kaiba's turn. (cheat) And the second time when facing Anubis he activates "double spell" (?????) if you look at his hand he's holding only two cards: "Exchange" and "Diffusion Wave Motion". And when he activates "double spell" exchange vanishes from his hand...unless Anubis was holding "Monster Reborn" in his hand YuGi was really unable to reborn the Blue Eyes Shining Dragon and thus couldn't destroy the Pyramid of Light and thus couldn't bring back the Egyptian Gods. Considering these I think Kaiba can get a free pass just this once.

MarioForever453 Not really you just have to true name or an obelsik a monster you can normal summon and a brilliant fusion hell their are lots and lots of ways you could do it with ease in competitive Yu-Gi-Oh it's just not worth the resources. Horkathy is a lot harder to drop T1 and theirs only a few plays that can get there.

It's possible. Summon a monster whose effect summons tokens with it, play double summon then bam. Obelisk. Or pot of greed then put down call of the haunted, pass your turn then discard obelisk as your 7th card. Use COTH then bam again.
What's not included is a 45 minutes scene where the guy just looks at all the cards and try to build a deck while Kaiba just stands there really bored regretting his little prank.
@@garretrodriguez " the heart of cards " is better in the manga. There's no such thing as heart of cards, instead they refer to the " power of friendship " . It makes the dices get 1 or 6 and allow a kind soul to draw his strongest monster, and it just happen to coincide with the moment where he was fighting for his friends.
I’ve always thought this scene speaks volumes about both Kaiba brothers. Mokuba is basically fearless, even around a bully at least twice his size because he knows he has a job to do and the loyalty to do it. And even though Seto may have power as his motivation, Mokuba is the reason for everything he does. He built an empire and puts Mokuba at the forefront of every aspect of it; he’ll still drop everything to protect him. Mokuba knows this and takes on every responsibility because he knows his big bro has his back no matter what, and that’s exactly what Seto does. People always say that Seto Kaiba is the biggest jerk in the world; he may be power-hungry but I love the dynamic that the Kaiba brothers represent. The whole Yugioh franchise is all about working together to accomplish a goal, and nobody represents this better than these two brothers. The love that they have for each other, the trust, the compassion, and the drive to succeed is what makes me love them more and more. Mokuba is adorable and he’ll grow up to be just as great as his big bro. As for Seto, he is probably one of my favorite characters ever. I adore him in so many ways, he is strong, confident, achieves all of his goals, and puts family above everything. I view Seto In such a different light from so many other people and believe that he is truly one of the most important characters in the series

Fun fact: Dark Side of Dimensions isn't based on the anime, and unlike the 4Kids dub, in no version of the manga did Kaiba ever deny that Egypt magic exists. He just also didn't give a f. He was gonna win a children's card game. There was no proof other than him proving his skill as a duelist for him. Hence why DSoD Kaiba just casually made tech that directly counters ancient Egypt magic ran directly on a fuel source of his limitless ego, which as the abridged notes, probably has reached planetary scale by this stage.

Here is why Kaiba didn't break the rules:
1. You can normal summon ANY monster without tribute, beside you are playing with "Advanced Rules", which were introduced later in the series and then became the foundation of the real life game (OCG/TCG).
2. Egyptian Gods have different effects in the anime/manga from the real life game. They don't have a Summoning Condition. Tributing 3 monsters came from the fact that in the anime/manga you needed 3 monster to summon a lvl 10 monster in a duel with advanced rules.
PS: I can recommend the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga which is the source material for the anime and card game. Takahashi had initially other ideas regarding the game. It was the anime and later Konami that established the known game rules in OCG/TCG.

Kaiba probably used Card Destruction to send L.O.D. to the graveyard, then used Monster Reborn to bring it back and used his Flute of Summoning Dragon to summon two dragons and sacrificed 3 of the monsters to summon Obelisk and probably used a spell card to attack in one turn.

If he had gone second, presumably his opponent would have summoned a monster onto his field, and obelisk wouldn't have enough attack points to wipe out that monster AND the rest of the guy's life points. #NerdOutMoment

zubhanwc3 It's Possible with The Nekroz Deck. Lucky I was using Hieratic Dragons which allowed me to Summon Hieratic Sun Dragon combined with Blue Eyes White Dragon and Hieratic Sun Dragon allowed me to clear the field by tributing other Hieratic Dragons which means Level Eight Normal Monsters are Special Summoned though their attack becomes 0 which still means XYZ Monsters which means another Hieratic Sun Dragon for a direct hit at my opponents life points. BTW I almost lost as all my Monsters either needs a Tribute to Summon or another Hieratic Dragon to special summon and Mirror Force gave me the breathing time I need. Nekroz Decks are a pain because they have effects that activate in the hand such as Negating an attack, Drawing extra cards, Reducing your 3000 plus attack to 0 and Giving and Attack boost of 1000 and negating the effects of Monsters

Decade yea people need to understand that kaiba is like the 3rd best duelist after yugi and atem. This is barring villians like dartz etc. The guy he dueled was fodder and only meant to show off obelisk.
The way kaiba had his deck stacked for battle city was unbeatable barring pis from yugi. He could literally summon obelisk in about 3-4 or quicker; using his xyz tank components or a flute of summoning dragon + quick play card to quickly summon 3 blue eyes to sacrifice for obelisk. All of this is easily 1-2, maybe 3 turns.

It was an insignificant duel with kaiba dueling a nobody, so all they did was show how it ended with kaiba destroying him with obelisk.
The problem is, so many people took this scene too literally and thought that kaiba actually drew and played obelisk on the very first turn.
Decade We get a glimpse of how kaiba could've fodderized that guy tho. Remember what kaiba did in the first duel against lumis and umbra? He summoned 5 monsters in 1 turn.

In the original, that "clown" was apparently a monster hired by Pegasus to pretend to be Kaiba.
Of course, 4Kids wanted to drill in the fact that the Shadow Realm, their fantasy suffering dimension that somehow is better than death, is real so they had this dude be Kaiba's old self that was sent to the Shadow Realm before Pegasus brought him back.

As always, Kaiba is...well...doing what Kaiba does, "screwing the rules" and just summons Obelisk in his first turn. :D
So what? Look at all the times YuGi does it.
Most notably in the Movie when he does it twice. Once in the opening simulation...yeah he activated Obelisk's infinite strength ability on Kaiba's turn. (cheat) And the second time when facing Anubis he activates "double spell" (?????) if you look at his hand he's holding only two cards: "Exchange" and "Diffusion Wave Motion". And when he activates "double spell" exchange vanishes from his hand...unless Anubis was holding "Monster Reborn" in his hand YuGi was really unable to reborn the Blue Eyes Shining Dragon and thus couldn't destroy the Pyramid of Light and thus couldn't bring back the Egyptian Gods.
Considering these I think Kaiba can get a free pass just this once.

Horkathy is a lot harder to drop T1 and theirs only a few plays that can get there.

*Fun Fact:* Nagumo here was actually from "Season 0", though he wasn't in the actual anime adaptation of that portion of the manga. He played a Monster Fighter game with Atem and got a Penalty Game for his trouble. He didn't seem to learn anything from the experience, though I guess Kaiba was the same way the first time around! At any rate, this was his last appearance in the series.
Season 0 was epically creepy. Yami willing to lay own some Twilight Zone level nightmares on bullies and conmen ... and that time he set an escaped murderer on fire.

Kaiba did actually change from his first penalty game in the manga, it just was not enough so he got a second penalty game.
In season 0, the Kaiba brothers were psychopaths and Yami was the epitome of anti hero. He would never hurt his friends but wouldn’t have a problem even killing those that crossed his friends or cheat

It's possible. Summon a monster whose effect summons tokens with it, play double summon then bam. Obelisk. Or pot of greed then put down call of the haunted, pass your turn then discard obelisk as your 7th card. Use COTH then bam again.

It makes the dices get 1 or 6 and allow a kind soul to draw his strongest monster, and it just happen to coincide with the moment where he was fighting for his friends.

I’ve always thought this scene speaks volumes about both Kaiba brothers. Mokuba is basically fearless, even around a bully at least twice his size because he knows he has a job to do and the loyalty to do it. And even though Seto may have power as his motivation, Mokuba is the reason for everything he does. He built an empire and puts Mokuba at the forefront of every aspect of it; he’ll still drop everything to protect him. Mokuba knows this and takes on every responsibility because he knows his big bro has his back no matter what, and that’s exactly what Seto does. People always say that Seto Kaiba is the biggest jerk in the world; he may be power-hungry but I love the dynamic that the Kaiba brothers represent. The whole Yugioh franchise is all about working together to accomplish a goal, and nobody represents this better than these two brothers. The love that they have for each other, the trust, the compassion, and the drive to succeed is what makes me love them more and more. Mokuba is adorable and he’ll grow up to be just as great as his big bro. As for Seto, he is probably one of my favorite characters ever. I adore him in so many ways, he is strong, confident, achieves all of his goals, and puts family above everything. I view Seto In such a different light from so many other people and believe that he is truly one of the most important characters in the series
