    Me personally, I like them because they are simple, reliable, and relatively inexpensive. As someone who weighs 145 lbs and always felt like a little bit of an underdog growing up, the "punch upwards" potential of the lightweight Civic and it's ability to annoy the easily annoyed is very appealing. I think many people go for the Civic despite having easier, better options for performance because they see themselves reflected in the car itself and in the mythos surrounding it. I don't want a powerful looking, aggressive car to make me feel secure--I want a practical, useful car that's a fighter, because it helps me create my own legend.

      The last generation civic was extremely riced out and everyone is mad because the new generation looks underwhelming. What’s your opinion?

    • @christianloper9483
      @christianloper9483 2 года назад +4

      @@ci6516 I just think the most recent generation looks like a Hot Wheels car. The tail lights look okay, but there's so many lines and so much going on. Part of the reason old Civics get riced out so much is because they provide a blank template design wise, but the new ones are over-designed, so I don't think it will happen as often. Of course, older Civics have fewer electronics too, so they are easier to modify. My personal favorite, and my daily driver, is the eighth gen. I love the simple but elegant lines and the responsive handling and feedback.
      I will say that I'm tentatively excited for the upcoming Civic. It looks a little more like the recent Accord and has much cleaner lines.

This is a great platform for beginners and for the people that go the right route in modifying really do get the best bang for your buck that beats most things on the road, where most people ride stock while lowered with some wheels and bolt on's; Most Honda enthusiast like street driving their setups, and they're reliable even with aftermarket support, and taking to the drag strip. The Fit crowd are doing the same with Civic motors now. My 2012 Fit came with a NA L15a7 motor. The "B" version of that motor, the L15b7, is the low compression/factory turbo model Honda puts in some Civics/CRVs/Accords. It's about as straight forward as a swap gets, and there are hundreds of thousands of these motors sitting in junkyards already. Spending like $3k for a CARB legal motor swap that roughly doubles your HP is fucking legit. Even moreso when it's a factory Honda motor that will probably do 250k miles without issue.

    I drive an EP3 Type R. It's got a stainless steel exhaust fitted by the previous owner that sounds great but isn't obnoxiously loud. I will never lower it, stance it, straight pipe it or put a stupid body kit and spoiler on it. I didn't buy it to race the Fiesta ST's and Golf GTI's that pull up next to me at traffic lights revving their engines. I'll go to a track for that. I brought it because I love driving it. Surely that's what it's all about instead of saying stuff like "you drive a civic, you're a ricer". Don't be that guy.

    I had an ‘88 CRX Si with the 5-speed manual transmission for about 2 years back in the oughts. I loved the hell out of that car, and I still miss it 10 years later. I had a ‘91 Civic after that which was okay but not nearly as fun to drive as the CRX. I currently drive an ‘06 Accord Coupe with a V6 and a 6-speed, and it doesn’t handle like my little red liftback did back in the day, but I feel like it has a hint of the same DNA.
