    These guys just screwed themselves in selling the kit because just getting the headers and keeping everything else stock sounds best.

      Stainless Works is being very professional by not forcing us to buy their mufflers, but offering the rest of the x-pipe setup. They know how car people can be. I'm looking at LS swapping my truck with a 416 LS3, but I can't find a decent shop that can fabricate a stainless mandrel bent Nascar style X-pipe that puts dual cutouts to the passenger side, and a super quiet single outlet in the factory location.

    • @Dr_Xyzt
      @Dr_Xyzt 4 года назад +2

      Lol, 5-years later, I totally put an LS3 in my truck. Forget quiet exhaust, X-pipes, and H-pipes. Run from the headers straight back, then 45 out in front of the rear tires!

    i reckon that the Stock exhaust with the aftermarket Headers sounds better but that might be because I like it loud

    I am so glad that others agree.. Hard to be factory mufflers on this car.
    Aftermarket headers w factory muffler for the win!

    I own this car featured in the video now. I'm the second owner and the video as usual does not do it justice. Sounds great in person and gets lots of compliments.

      Great to hear Steven, thank you! Yeah, we're not sure a video can ever really portray how an exhaust feels to hear in person, it's like a recording of a rock band vs being at an actual show! ;)

    headers to factory mufflers is the best

  • @G8GTJav
    @G8GTJav 10 лет назад +10

    1 7/8" headers and 3" exhaust piping seems a little overkill, atleast on a stock LS3. Probably losing out on some low-end torque potential. Also, headers w/ exhaust sounds a bit too raspy for my taste. Imo, the stock exhaust w/ headers sounded best. However, the quad exhaust tips are a definite improvement.

    • @Gideon_Judges6
      @Gideon_Judges6 Год назад

      Nah. Common misconception. The 1 7/8" even gains on the 5.7 LS1. This notion you should stick to 1 3/4" even on the LS3 is silly.

    I have the full Stainless works set up, my car sounds absolutely nothing like the video. There's a very airy sound and is actually quieter than stock at high RPM's. My set also came with a resonator that isn't listed anywhere on their website. That being said I took the mufflers off and ran Open headers, cats and resonator and the car was extremely loud. Something strange is going on with their mufflers. The fit is also terrible. I took off their resonator and mufflers and put back the stock mufflers with their headers. Sounds great and I fully recommend the headers. The mufflers however, avoid them at all costs

    SW Headers with their SW Exhaust was nice from the interior, and that's what sold me. Ironically, SW doesn't 'appear' to list this kit for the Chevy SS on their website.

    Great vid. Best online showing the different combinations. Based on this I bought the headers. SW cans sound great if you like a higher tone. (NASCAR) What is not captured in the vid is the volume level. I have no doubt in person the SW cans sound much more formidable than the vid can showcase.

    I picked up a 2013 Caprice PPV 6L with 800 miles last Friday and I need these headers in my life with an off road x to my stock mufflers(until I AFM delete and cam it)...would you consider giving the forum members at New Caprice a deal? :)

    Would you recommend coating these headers and maybe a high torque mini starter?

    • @STAINLESSWORKSNET
      @STAINLESSWORKSNET  9 лет назад

      Eric Stallings Hey Eric, kind of a personal preference if you'd like to coat them, I suppose it depends on your application, if you're basically keeping a street car or taking it to the track. An AirAid intake would be a great complement to our headers. Call us if you'd like to discuss 800.878.3635

    • @STAINLESSWORKSNET
      @STAINLESSWORKSNET  7 лет назад

      Hi Sebastian, you'd want our "Factory Connect" headers which would be either catted (SS14HCAT) or off-road (SS14HOR) those both come with an X-pipe and you can view the details here: stainlessworks.net/chevy-ss-2014-headers

    Headers & stock mufflers sound great; I bet the stock mufflers flow really well. I would like to see some dyno figures before making a decision. But it is all meaningless unless they have a CARB certificate. Without that you won’t pass the smog check visual inspection.

    The Chevy SS seems to sound better than the CTS V, despite both cars having the exact same displacement in engines, would anybody know why this is the case?

    • @hendo337
      @hendo337 10 лет назад

      The old n/a CTS-V was a 5.7L LS6 then a 6L LS2, new CTS-V is 6.2L Supercharged LSA and SS is 6.2L LS3. That's why.

    • @jkrych26
      @jkrych26 10 лет назад

      Wait what's why? The CTS V should sound better considering the LSA is more powerful than the LS3, but the muffling and the catalytic converters on the CTS V are probably more powerful than the SS's muffler and cats to reduce the sound. I guess you would have to compare both vehicles without their mufflers and cats respectively.

    • @Dylan-xj8tb
      @Dylan-xj8tb 10 лет назад

      The cts-v does sound better, but its all in peoples taste and opinion. Asking "why does this car sound better than that car" is just dumb

    • @jkrych26
      @jkrych26 10 лет назад

      True, you bring up a very good point how it's all individual and everyone has different tastes. But, the fact that the SS sounds very good stock versus the CTS V always made me curious to know why, but I guess it could also be because I have never heard a truly ferocious sounding 2nd gen V in person. I have seen some good exhaust videos on RUclips, but it's not the same watching it in a video versus being there in person, you know what I mean?

    • @hendo337
      @hendo337 10 лет назад

      I heard a modified 6.2L s/c V at Zmax dragway during HRM Power Tour and it sounded pretty wild.I don't think it could hold a candle to a cammed, LT header LS7 Z06 I heard though.

    @ 3: 28 WTF really do you think people are that stupid, lets not forget that adding an exhaust change does nothing to the engine unless you have a tune done professionally full stop and to think that he said it throws you right back in your seat, only drag cars do that, look up Hennessey upgrades up to 600 HP on a SS yet it does not put you back in the seat like this dude shows LMFAO really ? so funny the usual american BS Other than good exhaust make up maybe, till i see the tig welds and how much of the inside of the stainless steel is polished,only then i would be impressed,which can be done just be having the pipe put into special fluids and electricity is applied or via special Acids and time to remove outside and inside the stainless pipe ?
