I had this experience. Very difficult to relate or explain explicitly through words, but it seems that many Christian artists have had it. It’s communicated much better through art than words like “light” or “a harmony of angels singing Jesus’ name” or “ascending to heaven” or “seeing the infinite” or “What joy is aiming at” et. al.
Hi Johnathan, do you happen to have a source for that Paul/Damascus icon in the thumbnail? What a powerful composition! I haven’t seen it before/a google image search yielded nothing. Thank you for your service; God bless!
Often times I vaccinate between sensing as though I've definitely experienced this and then wondering whether or not it was even real the more I realize how even though I don't want to sin, I'm not actually all that good at following God when I do what I know I don't want to do anyway. Idk if that made any sense, but how is it that you actually know whether or not you've genuinely experienced that God-given metanoia? (Idk I probably butchered terminology, but I hope it made sense). It's a real point of frustration and sometimes immense emotional distress.
Your phone auto corrected to vaccinate but I know you mean vacillate. I wish I had a good answer for you but all I can say is I feel you're comment so hard. And so does Paul. Romans 7:15
This discussion here in this video is all together based upon a Christian paradigm of thinking, and why I am no longer been a Christian for the last several years. I don't believe this paradigm. Even just the simple paradigm of Christian faith of: I'm searching for God. You know someone has a prison experience or a near-death experience or an illness experience and now you're really interested in getting to know God. That whole paradigm has been completely let go of. I am now a Taoist/Zen Buddhist. Within the Taoist cosmology as talked about in the Tao Te Ching, there is none of this propitiating a God in any way. And yet that is what saturating this conversation in this video here whether they realize it or not.
@@Ojibwadecendent if you read my original comment here I mentioned the Tao Te Ching. Find a good translation of it like the one by James Legge, and then your question to me about the alternative will be explained. It's a very short book and you can find it anywhere online to buy. Now as to your first inquiry about the Christian worldview and paradigm: its is the basic idea of the Son of God coming to Earth and dying a violent and unnatural death on the cross and then rising again so then if anyone has faith in Jesus and his work on the cross one may be saved. This is a paradigm of propitiation, which I no longer believe in and neither does Buddhism or Taoism.

Reminds me of John Vervaeke on anagoge. Step forward, blinded by the light, adjust your vision, step forward and up towards the light again....
In many ways this is the type of change that a psychotherapist hopes for with patients.
Anyone know where I can find that Icon of St Paul falling off the horse?

Can you further explain the christian assumption you see as unnecessary or false? And what is the alternative?
Why wouldn’t you want to participate in the inner life of a being of infinite greatness?
