This song to me is the definition of perfection. I’ve listened to it 100’s of times and get chills each and every time. At times bringing me to tears. I love watching reactions to it and yours was great. Glad you did this one! Simon & Garfunkel did this in a folk song style, and that was beautiful. But David Draymond puts fire and power to it that brings the lyrics to a whole other level. The Simon & Garfunkel version was the warning to what technology could bring, silencing the people. But David’s version is the war cry to wake everyone up.
I grew up on this song, my mom wore this album out. When I first heard there was a remake I asked myself, why? Why would anyone want to attempt to do this song. Then I listened and I found out why! This version is in my opinion better than the origninal and that's saying a lot. Great reaction!
Same. I saw that Disturbed had done a cover of this song and I resisted it for years. I'm now ashamed I waited so long to listen to it. I played it for my 78 year old mom recently and she just teared up. She loved it.
They are saying that when it was written in the 60's it was a warning. Now Disturbed version is the version that shows they are mad because people did not heed the warning. WOW The words.
David Draiman was expected to follow in his family's tradition of becoming a Cantor in a Jewish Synagogue as his father and grandfather had done. He was trained from childhood how to use his voice and it is evident that his expression of this song is a perfect union of sound and meaning.
Disturbed did a cover of "Sound of Silence" originally done by Simon and Garfunkel. Paul Simon actually loves Disturbed's version and said that this song now belongs to Disturbed.
Disturbed is a heavy metal band popular since the mid 90s. David Draiman was Jewish Cantor in his younger years. He has a very unusual kind of grit for heavy metal vocals. Paul Simon of Simon and Garfunkel wrote this song in 1964 as a warning. It was a faster rhythmic folk song. Disturbed’s version shows the anger that the warning wasn’t heeded. Paul Simon was so impressed with this 2015 cover, he contacted the band told them that they now owned it!
FINALLY!!! You made it... :D A heavy metal band that catches EVERYONE by surprise, then elevates and owns a song (this song) 50+ years after it was written!! Anyone who hasn't been blown away by this isn't really listening! No matter what genre you like, this is superbly done and flawless! The best cover/song/video these past 7 years! DISTURBED ~ WOW!! Now here is the live performance that everyone must see >>> Disturbed - Sound Of Silence = ruclips.net/video/Bk7RVw3I8eg/видео.html .
Back in 2016, when it broke live on Conan O'Brien, I watched and I cried, couldn't help it. I've spent the last 3 days watching HUNDREDS of reactions to this cover. I like the Conan live version most, but this video really brings the words home. This song, sung this way, is equal to a #1 Best Seller or Summer Block Buster!
Simon & Garfunkel composed and released this in 1964. Disturbed (David Draiman) just took it up a couple of notches!! Interesting fact: David who is Jewish went to many Orthodox schools growing up and was trained as a cantor (who is a Jewish musician trained vocally) to lead the congregation. Also David performed this live on the Conan show and it was equally brilliant!!!!!☮❤Sea Point, Cape Town
There is also an amazing live performance of this by Disturbed from the Conan show. The singer had a serious cold but still delivered a truly epic performance. This video u reacted to shows the ark delivering musical instruments to the thousands standing on the distant shore. Delivering the possibility of music to be shared versus a boat arriving filled with an army and weapons. I found that something worth noting to end the video. Mark
David Draiman...amazing range and control...a powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion/vocal fry and back on a dime, which is incredibly difficult to do . He has a timbre in his voice that I've never heard before.....just hauntingly beautiful and pure tonal properties to it! ...one of the best male vocalists on the planet imho. Loved your reaction.
Great reaction. As others have said this is the definitive cover of any song. Disturbed took the original and brought the message and the emotion up 100 notches. They also did any an amazing cover of Genesis' song Land of Confusion. I think you'd like that one too. For everyone amazed this man never heard of Simon and Garfunkel it's not as strange as it may seem. My husband grew up in a household where nothing but country music ever played. When we met he was in his late teens and listened to country and a rock station in his car but they played harder rock. He never heard any of the great 60's and 70's folk/rock or pop songs until I played them when I was with him. Even stranger to some of us is the fact my husband never saw a single Disney movie, watched Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, The Electric company or any of the other shows and movies kids normally did in our age group. Just like with music you are a product of your environment and only learn if you seek out new things/experiences.
Country songs are big in the UK, Ireland, and Europe. I used to watch and listen to David Hartly Pedalsteel until he died a few years ago. He was fabulous on a steel guitar. But I happen to be in northeast Texas. I love a good steel guitar sound.
Hello, new subscriber here! If you like country I would recommend Home Free, an amazing a cappella country group. Although they can do other genres, country is their focus. Man of constant sorrow is a great place to start! It’s a huge rabbit hole and many Home Fries (their fans) will follow you down it! Thanks so much for the wonderful reaction! 🤗❤️
I am sure by now you know that this was written in 196o's by Simon and Garfunkel. Disturbed took this song to another level. David's Voice along with the Instruments and all the Band Member's contributions to this, they flat out turned a Time less Classic into a Modern Day Masterpiece. This song reaches into your Soul and makes you listen to what he is saying. You feel the emotion. I am sure you have been told already but there is a Live performance of this on the Conan show here on RUclips. Definitely worth the watch and listen! Great Reaction btw! ✊
I loved your reaction. ❤. You definitely interpreted right. Simon and Garfunkel sang it in 1964 as a warning to humanity and Disturbed sang it as angry that humanity has not listened to that warning.
Simon and Garfunkle's original was more folksy, reIeased in 1964, seemed to refer to not communicating, perhaps how television was affecting people. Disturbed's cover, with David Draiman, is utterly haunting and a phenomenal rendition that still makes us look at hiw we do not communicate. Onecreactor saud that he felt there was a hint of hope in the video where the instruments were coming across the waterway to the musical notes. I have listened to dozens of reactions to this, I cannot get enough!
So he doesn't know the original was written in the 60s and this is a cover ... Delightful!! Am a bit staggered but his horizon just expanded exponentially!!
I know right. I am really just a country guy and till I started doing these reactions never really listened to anything else. Thanks for the view and comment.
For heaven's sake play the whole thing before the critique! Song was written in 1964 by Paul Simon. He called David Draiman and said that's how it should be sung. Simon and Garfunkel recorded it mid 60s as a warning in folk song style. Disturbed made it a lament!
Not sure how people have not heard this song before? This is a CLASSIC! It is a song by Simon & Garfunkel & it has been covered a lot! Glad you heard this! I personally think it is the best cover ever, maybe even better than the original!
Paul Simon met David Draiman at a holiday party in Hawaii. He complimented David on this cover, and for the first time ever, Simon posted a link to this version on his own website. You cannot get a stronger endorsement than that!
You are typical of country and western fans - you always focus on the lyrics! Its the overall effect that counts, all of it, his voice, the instrumental, the imagery. If the hairs on your arms didn't stand up, you're not getting it😊
Simon and Garfunkel warned us with this song, that we would become slaves to technology, Disturbed immortalized this song as an "I told you so you should of listened"
Country is a genre not so much loved in Italy, but we dance it in some dance school and specialized gathering expecially in my region. Folk in Italy is pretty different than the USA folk music, not the same thing at all. You could try with Violetta Zironi, song Oasis. She is in RUclips and sing country style mine of music.
David, the lead singer, comes from a family of cantours. He was classically trained as one. In the Jewish faith they essentially are meant to sound the emotions of the people through song. They literally are trained to harness emotion and present it through their voice.
Paul Simon wrote this in the mid sixties. The Simon and Garfunkle version never really impressed me, now even less, like cotton candy. But this version you hear down deep, it resonates in the soul. They're a heavy metal band, but I think they have a lot of songs that you would love. The S&G version was a warning they said, this version is FOOLS, you didn't listen!!!
Hello! Just a comment. I live in Europe, in Hungary. Even I know the original song (Simon & Garfunkel /USA/) and it's unbelievable to me that a middle-aged American man doesn't!? Strange. I like your reactions anyway. Have a nice day!✌🤝
Believe it! I have never heard of them till yesterday. I know it may be crazy but I am a country guy and really didn't listen to much else till I started doing reactions. Thanks for the view and comment.
@@frontrowchaos4597 I didn't want to write anything bad, I hope I didn't offend you🙏, it's just really unbelievable that an American song that is a world hit, e.g. American radio stations are not playing✌
@@tinoraulfHi! Wikipedia : Simon & Garfunkel was an American folk rock duo consisting of the singer-songwriter Paul Simon and the singer Art Garfunkel. They were one of the best-selling music groups of the 1960s, and their biggest hits, including the electric remix of "The Sound of Silence" (1965),[2] "Mrs. Robinson" (1968), "The Boxer" (1969), and "Bridge over Troubled Water" (1970), reached number one on singles charts worldwide. 🤔😉👍
The best cover of that 1960s song!! The best country group I know is an acapella group called Home Free. They do covers as well as pop and others. All by mouth and are fabulous. Try John Denvers Country Roads by Home Free. There are lots more. Search and enjoy 👌
Travis, brother, glad to see you react to this one!! Amazing introspection. You really need to watch the live version on Conan. Unbelievable performance...
@@frontrowchaos4597 The Conan Show performance has had over 135 million views, was nominated for a Grammy, and had a standing ovation with applause for over 10 minutes per some audience members of this show.
Thanks for your great reaction … Disturbed is an amazing band 👍 they help a lot of people with their music and the themes they are talking about. For example „ a reason to fight - official live video“ - „ hold on to memories - official video“
If Paul Simon wrote (1963) that song to us all as a warning ,this was the rendition he had in mind if that warning was ignored. The song is a US classic.
Is a classically trained singer. You love this song you need to hear "Hold onto Memories" gut wrenching David Draiman is more than the eye sees. He's jewish and his father and grandfather are Cantors. David is deep into mental health, awareness, suicide prevention, and educating people about the hazards of drug abuse.
This has become a standard for the band, always expected at their live gigs! David and his brother were trained Jewish cantors. He turned to metal and his brother is an opera singer. Paul Simon said he wrote this after a dream and the meaning is still argued about. The video I feel talks of the rediscovery of lost music. One island find the sheet music, the other find the instruments and travel to them... Paul Simon saw THIS very performance on Conan and loved it. Poor David was really poorly with a bad cold when he sung it on Conan, so I urge you to watch the official video to hear David in top form and the visuals really add to the music. ruclips.net/video/Bk7RVw3I8eg/видео.html Check these interviews with David... ruclips.net/video/ntNfwoKD0XA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/7uKXHxV9AUc/видео.html David being interviewed and performing on stage The Vengeful One and Sound of Silence... ruclips.net/video/Jy6TSpv6BLs/видео.html The official video... ruclips.net/video/u9Dg-g7t2l4/видео.html The original Simon and Garfunkel version... ruclips.net/video/NAEppFUWLfc/видео.html Fascinating that Pentatonix chose to cover Disturbed’s version rather than the original... ruclips.net/video/gdVjVtpr55M/видео.html One of Disturbed’s classic tunes!!!! ruclips.net/video/09LTT0xwdfw/видео.html
I have very much enjoyed your reactions. Allow me this one criticism...suppress your urge to comment every 2 lines of a song. Give your viewing audience some credit for being able to hear and digest the meaning of lyrics on our own. Part of experiencing a song and performance is to listen to it. Feel the transitions. It order to do this, there must be flow. One simply cannot do that breaking down every 2nd verse. I have viewed over 3500 yt reactions to Dimash performances alone in the last 6 years. Yes we all understand "reaction" videos. Yes we all understand copyright issues. My main enjoyment from viewing reaction videos by yt reactors is to witness the enjoyment of another person getting to experience a performance I am already familiar with. To vicariously relive my own first experience again with another human being and to enjoy it with them. At 62 yo, I dont need life coaching or vocal coaching or interpretation of song meanings or lyrics. I'm not alone in feeling this from reading thousands of comments over the years as well. Hope this wasn't taken by you too harshly, as I have already said, I enjoy your comments. Some performances are simply too good to make tons of comments thru and are best just enjoyed. Comments can be made after experiencing them. Filters can be added over the videos. A very popular reactor has found great success giving an intro, viewing a performance in its entirety with zero interruption, then viewing again with breakdown and analysis. All certainly dont have to follow this formula but it has given him millions of views. I'm sorry it's just painful to me to watch a song chopped up every 2 lines, no matter how poignant the commentary. Mark
I am very interested in your comment. I don't know which way to go. Most seem to like me to analyze the song by chopping it up but then I get these comments once in a while. I must admit I will not remember much on the first listen to comment at the end. That is the only reason I break it down. I will say most seem to like the chopping but some don't. What would you do if you were me?
@@frontrowchaos4597 Some reactors write some of their thoughts above the music video and only discuss the really important aspects. Some make notes and then go back after the performance. There are ways to interrupt less. From the comments here I think you are downplaying the amount of folks who dont like constant interruptions. Most people just leave without saying anything (and dont return for other reactions) but, in spite of that, you still have quite a few people here who are expressing dismay. Also, in emotionally powerful songs, like this one, less is probably more. Julia Nilon reviewed this song with notes above the performance and just a few interruptions. Really recommend you look at her way of doing it.
Simon and Garfunkel were amazing. David Draiman and Disturbed own this song now. Paul Simon told him that and posted Disturbed's version to his website. They say Simon and Garfunkel was a warning. Disturbed is ANGER for not heeding that warning. Far cry from the folk song from 1964. Loved your reaction.
Love this song....great reaction! You need to check out Dan Vasc cover of sound of silence and amazing grace. Also as far as country artists, you need to check out HARDY, he is a country rock singer songwriter. Recommend starting with Wait in the Truck and Give Heaven Some Hell.
Hi Travis, love your authentic reactions. I really enjoyed your analysis and insight to this classic. I have a suggestion for a video that I know is totally out of your ball park. It's song about the struggle with mental illness. It's titled "Hi Ren" by Ren. Give it a look and listen. Cheers from Tucson my friend.
I used to listen to this in the choppers on my way out into the jungles of Vietnam!! And you need to listen to it alot more to get it!! Youngster!! Hint!!!! This is a social protest song!! It is a statement of what society has devolved into!! It is almost religious in nature!! Please listen to it a whole lot more so you can get it!!
Might have been there with my Dad! You are right, i have to listen to songs several times to get it all down. Thanks for your service to our Great Country! Appreciate your view and comment.
European country is usually bluegrass based. One that I think you can show on RUclips (the other's literally have F*ck Y*u as their titles - haha) is Rattleshack. Their song Dead man's Creek is on YT. North American country music bands are most popular in Europe. I would love to see more come from outside North America and Australia, but for now the bluegrass scene is what I've seen the most in Europe. As for Disturbed's cover of this song, it's my favorite version. I love the lead singer's voice in all they do, mellow to heavy. If you enjoyed this message and tone you may like Shinedown's song, "45".
May 2, 2024 First, here's the link to the history of the song... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sound_of_Silence OMG, the tissues I've 🤧 gone through since I discovered David Draiman and Disturbed performing their rendition of "The Sound of Silence" on April 29, 2024. That day I have to believe my spirit 🙏 guides (out of the blue) first led me to a cover video by Dan Vasc singing "Amazing Grace" 👏 and then to the cover video of Disturbed and David Draiman singing this most POWERFUL, EMOTIONAL 😂rendition of Simon and Garfunkels "The Sound of Silence". I'm 75 and was 15 when they released one of the most popular classic songs of our time during the 60's. It is amazing how relevant it is today, actually I feel it is even more relevant than ever in so many different ways. I've spent days since listening and seeing the many channels and each of their reactions and have 😢 almost every time. It's funny that more males have gotten teary-eyed than females, just an observation. Also, be sure to watch their live Conan performance. By the way David Draiman was really sick for the Conan live performance and I heard he was not pleased with his performance, being the perfectionist that he is I can understand why he felt that way. However, the production as a whole was amazing and his performance was EXCEPTIONAL! I loved it. So POWERFUL and EMOTIONAL! Disturbed "The Sound Of Silence" 03/28/16 | CONAN on TBS Team Coco Thanks, Diane Davis
Great reaction. You're face is not particularly expressive, but I could see, especially in the later stages, just how affecting this was. A masterful performance. You should check out the live version on Conan.
In re to European artists...there is a fantastic Bluegrass band (Norwegian) I think. You have to watch their Thunderstruck video. I can't remember their name.
This version is really good. But you should definitely check out the original by Simon& Garfunkel. Absolutely amazing voices. I recommened the performance in New York. With love from Germany 😎 🤘🏻
Hey, I live in small-town Appalachian VA. Some European country songs to find are definitely some Irish ones like 5 AM at an Irish weddin, or other Irish songs from teh bog. Either way no problem attall attall. Or an egg in a nest and a nest on a twig and a twig on a branch and a branch on a tree and a tree in a hole and a hole in the bog and the bog down in the valleyo (Compared to my area's music they would be kind of like bluegrass instead of country, but i can't very well compare myself to an Irish person)
Simon and Garfunkel was a warning. Tv was coming out, radios were distracting, then the age of technology, videos, cell phones drugs. David's version is the response to the original song. Nobody took those warnings , families were split, kids were to busy to sit down to the dinner table. Respect went out the door, human life means nothing, all anyone wants to do is to kick God out the door and destroy humanity. Bright lights and big city is the way. People want to be stars and be under the neon lights and throw everything else a way.
Maybe I should keep this to myself but you're very handsome... that aside, I subscribed because you have very warm and genuine reactions and seem like a nice guy. Keep doing what you're doing and I'll keep tuning in and I'll try to keep my crush in check. Have a great year and onward.
Great reaction my friend - Thank You! 😊 I have a suggestion I think you will appreciate: The group: Playing For Change; (Led Zepplin Cover) ft. John Paul Jones of Led Zepplin - When The Levee Breaks & (The Band Cover) ft. Robbie Robertson of The Band - The Weight
You should react to Tommy Johansson The leadguitarist in Sabaton and his cower of The sound of silence He have his own youtubechannel with a lot of amacing cowers He is an multiinstrumentalist and producer and is cracy talented He is also the guy behind the music of lot of Floor Jansens cowers He drop a new cower ewery friday so the rabbitwhole is wery deep
Great reaction, I was surprised you dont know the original! I dont know much about country, it's not particularly popular here. But there is one guy / song that qualifies as country I think, that was a big hit here in the Netherlands. The artist is Denny Vera and he graduated the same class in music collage as Floor Jansen from Nightwish. They were classmates. The song is called Rollercoaster and was number one here, it's also very popular ob funerals (so yes heavy subject again) Here's a link to a great love performance of it; if you wish to react: ruclips.net/video/cWe4e0_UmIc/видео.html

Serious question... Is this REALLY the 1st time you've heard this song? It's a Simon & Garfunkel CLASSiC covered by hundreds of artists over the years. Personally, this is my (& Paul Simon's) favorite.
Every time I hear this song it grabs me so much it brings tears to my eyes. As some have written before me, the original comes from Simon & Garfunkel. When asked about the cover in an interview, Paul Simon, who wrote the song, replied that Disturbed's version made the message he wanted to make with the song much clearer than his own version. I only know of one European band that is active in the country music genre with any success. It's about the band "The BossHoss". Greetings from Germany, der Badener
some more powerful ORIGINAL Disturbed sings try The Light ruclips.net/video/_LypjOTTH6E/видео.html or Hold on To Memories ruclips.net/video/6Q0sMOQvJuw/видео.html, or be adventurous and go back to their early days with Down With The Sickness ruclips.net/video/09LTT0xwdfw/видео.html (not sure what your analysis of those lyrics would be like 😀
This is not a religious song. It came out of the 60s and was counter-culture. If anything it would be warning about religion taken too far and oppressing people. Many see Simon and Garfunkel's version as the warning and Disturbed's version, 50 or more years later as the anger that the warning wasn't heeded.
I am truly amazed that a middle aged American man has no clue that this is a cover song of Simon & Garfunkel
Believe it! Thanks for the view and comment.
Lol
You're amazed that an American is ignorant? It's like their most recognizable/infamous trait...
Can't really... who and or what raised you?
You deserve the viewer count you have 🙄

Hello, new subscriber here! If you like country I would recommend Home Free, an amazing a cappella country group. Although they can do other genres, country is their focus. Man of constant sorrow is a great place to start! It’s a huge rabbit hole and many Home Fries (their fans) will follow you down it! Thanks so much for the wonderful reaction! 🤗❤️
Especially since Disturbed is a heavy metal band
I am sure by now you know that this was written in 196o's by Simon and Garfunkel. Disturbed took this song to another level. David's Voice along with the Instruments and all the Band Member's contributions to this, they flat out turned a Time less Classic into a Modern Day Masterpiece. This song reaches into your Soul and makes you listen to what he is saying. You feel the emotion.
I am sure you have been told already but there is a Live performance of this on the Conan show here on RUclips. Definitely worth the watch and listen! Great Reaction btw!
✊
Thank you for such a great comment! I really appreciate your info and will check that out.
It is such a powerful song. Thanks for the view and comment.
Respectfully, I don't think you really get it!!!
So he doesn't know the original was written in the 60s and this is a cover ... Delightful!! Am a bit staggered but his horizon just expanded exponentially!!
Yes it did. That's why I love doing this to get exposed to such great songs and singers. Thanks for the view and comment.
I can't believe you haven't heard the original Simon Garfunkel version lol
I know right. I am really just a country guy and till I started doing these reactions never really listened to anything else. Thanks for the view and comment.
Love it
The original version from Simon and Garfunkel was totally different from this cover. I personally prefer Disturbed version.
I will check that out as well. Thanks for the info.
I have never heard the original, but it would be darn hard to beat it. Thanks for the view and comment.
This song w actually drop you to your knee's while crying!! He builds it up and then boom drops the hammer beautifully....
You need to listen to Jackson Dean, a young man with a wonderfully mature voice. I was amazed to find that he is only 22.
His voice, at first, caresses you and, by the end, you feel flayed.
This is a cover by Disturbed. The original is by Simon and Garfunkle. I love this version. You have to watch Distured do it live on Conan. Amazing!
Another song that's unbelievable is HALLELUJAH by Pentatonix. No music....just their incredible voices!
Thanks for the comment, I will check that out.
Also check out Lucy Thomas's cover of Hallelujah
And Mary did you know!
Paul Simon met David Draiman at a holiday party in Hawaii. He complimented David on this cover, and for the first time ever, Simon posted a link to this version on his own website. You cannot get a stronger endorsement than that!
The live version on Conan, is even better
You are typical of country and western fans - you always focus on the lyrics! Its the overall effect that counts, all of it, his voice, the instrumental, the imagery. If the hairs on your arms didn't stand up, you're not getting it😊
Simon and Garfunkel warned us with this song, that we would become slaves to technology, Disturbed immortalized this song as an "I told you so you should of listened"
Boy that is true. Thanks for the view and comment.
This is one of the major songs that came out of the 1960s.... Simon & Garfunkle...
I will check that out! Thanks for the comment.
He does that very well! Thanks for the view and comment.
You are so right, very heavy song for sure. Thanks for the view and comment. Really appreciate it.
@@MrRobyx1975 No offense taken. I know it is crazy that I have never heard that before but I really am a country guy till now.
@@tinoraulfHi! Wikipedia :
Simon & Garfunkel was an American folk rock duo consisting of the singer-songwriter Paul Simon and the singer Art Garfunkel.

Yeah Paul Simon is a genius songwriter
The best cover of that 1960s song!! The best country group I know is an acapella group called Home Free. They do covers as well as pop and others. All by mouth and are fabulous. Try John Denvers Country Roads by Home Free. There are lots more. Search and enjoy 👌
He has Live versions of this song that just blows the mind even more!!
I bet, thanks for the view and comment.
Watch the live version on Conan if you want to see just how great his voice is.
This is a cover song and a departure from their typical style. You need to check out some of their heavier stuff to know their true style.
Will do. Thanks for the view and comment.
Travis, brother, glad to see you react to this one!! Amazing introspection. You really need to watch the live version on Conan. Unbelievable performance...
I will check it out. Thanks for the view and comment.
Yes they are! Thanks for the view and comment.
If Paul Simon wrote (1963) that song to us all as a warning ,this was the rendition he had in mind if that warning was ignored. The song is a US classic.
Thanks for that comment. I really appreciate your view and comment.
Is a classically trained singer. You love this song you need to hear "Hold onto Memories" gut wrenching
David Draiman is more than the eye sees. He's jewish and his father and grandfather are Cantors. David is deep into mental health, awareness, suicide prevention, and educating people about the hazards of drug abuse.
I will check that song out. I appreciate your info about David seems like a good dude. Thanks for the view and comment.

Mark
Amen
Paul Simon was 21 when he wrote this song.
An amazing cover.
It really is.
Love this song....great reaction! You need to check out Dan Vasc cover of sound of silence and amazing grace. Also as far as country artists, you need to check out HARDY, he is a country rock singer songwriter. Recommend starting with Wait in the Truck and Give Heaven Some Hell.
I'll check it out!
It’s so great. Best song ever…..
It is really good! Thanks for the view and comment.
Simon and Garfunkel first sang the song in the 1960's. Give a listen.

Thank you for that info.

First, here's the link to the history of the song...
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sound_of_Silence
OMG, the tissues I've 🤧 gone through since I discovered David Draiman and Disturbed performing their rendition of "The Sound of Silence" on April 29, 2024.

Thank you!! 😁
Hey, I live in small-town Appalachian VA. Some European country songs to find are definitely some Irish ones like 5 AM at an Irish weddin, or other Irish songs from teh bog. Either way no problem attall attall. Or an egg in a nest and a nest on a twig and a twig on a branch and a branch on a tree and a tree in a hole and a hole in the bog and the bog down in the valleyo
(Compared to my area's music they would be kind of like bluegrass instead of country, but i can't very well compare myself to an Irish person)
So true, but very sad!
Maybe I should keep this to myself but you're very handsome... that aside, I subscribed because you have very warm and genuine reactions and seem like a nice guy. Keep doing what you're doing and I'll keep tuning in and I'll try to keep my crush in check. Have a great year and onward.

I dont know much about country, it's not particularly popular here. But there is one guy / song that qualifies as country I think, that was a big hit here in the Netherlands. The artist is Denny Vera and he graduated the same class in music collage as Floor Jansen from Nightwish. They were classmates.
The song is called Rollercoaster and was number one here, it's also very popular ob funerals (so yes heavy subject again)

Serious question... Is this REALLY the 1st time you've heard this song? It's a Simon & Garfunkel CLASSiC covered by hundreds of artists over the years. Personally, this is my (& Paul Simon's) favorite.
Yes it is. Was not a Simon and Garfunkel fan. Sorry about that.

Disturbed has some great songs! Try The Light, Reason to Fight, Hold on,
This is not a religious song. It came out of the 60s and was counter-culture. If anything it would be warning about religion taken too far and oppressing people.
Many see Simon and Garfunkel's version as the warning and Disturbed's version, 50 or more years later as the anger that the warning wasn't heeded.
