Rachel's Rocket has New Trim and Graphics! This Leaf Spring Camaro is Looking Sharp :)
The shop zi used to work for purchused about 6 of these speedway third members supposedly already set up. Yeah well they were all dry alk the 1st one the other guys just installed and it was noisey on accel coast and decel l..inly driven about a mile so I was able to fix them..Im a 57 yr old mechanic. Worked at performance based shops all my career but I've only done my own rear diffs a hand full of times having some known good rear diff builders check my work along the way. However thanks to your videos and I've watched several other people's videos but your seemed to stick with me the most..you shed new light and explained things I. A ways that ready stuck in my mind and thanks to you, I was able to fix 5 of the 6 rear diffs that my previous employer had purchased. After the 1st one was so far off I informed my employer that we needed to check over every one before it gets installed. There was 1 that was "close enough" other than Installing a deflector washer/ oil slinger. It seemed ok be ok..the other were all way wrong even much moresi than the one you received and fixed. However the price was so reasonable myvprevious employer is still buying them and Using them alot. We even bought a whole Speedway axle assembly housing everything and I had to fix that as well. But I couldn't have done it if it wasn't for yiur videos that she'd new light into something that I've always beleived and witnessed to be true in building rear ends. Ive heard and seen alot of people that cab supposedly do then but Ai was lucky enough to personally know a few good guys who actually fixed the order guys jobs and over the years after just overhearing and making questions and now with your help have been told that I have a knack for it. But your videos have rei forced some of my long held beliefs and now after seeing some9ne with your experience have thesame issues withthe same products 😊I feel like I won't be seeing the ones I fixed again..Im sure they will work great for a long time. Great rear diff videos! Keep it uo 57 n still love to learn.
I HAVE THE MOTOR MOUNTS HEAT TREATED AFTER i HAVE WELDED ON THEM. THE WELDING on the nut makes them soft!
She's doing a Hell of A Lot better than I did my 1st time!! 1st Hot Lap(s) ever, I went out on track from Turn #2 went around Turns #3 n #4 then exited track on Turn #1. I Didnt evn do a Full lap lol
16v hands down wont have to worry about a battery anymore
THANK YOU, you saved me much misery tring to seat the piston and metal boot!
talk to us , we can offer you a much better solution and much faster in activation .
Hot rod ready to go👍
It needed this box, I think I have been fighting some slack issues
Replacing steering boxes: 😎 Replacing drain pans: 😢
I wanted to put a better box on but dang it, that $5 drain pan been with me a long time LOL
I used to do front end set up on Hobby / Street Stocks. I set all 3000 to 3500 pound cars the same. Would you try my set up. I promise you the car will try to drive itself. Camber RF -3* LF+3* Caster RF+3* LF-3* Just try it. What do you have to lose? Might just slow your hands down. Just crack the throttle to transfer to the RF and barely turn the wheel.
I sure appreciate the insight. What track and class do you run? I'd like to read the rules where I can see what kind of build that performs well for.
Four tires are better than three been saying that for for 20 + years
Not always!
I just do not see any winners 3 wheeling cars anymore in the class and tracks I run and that I do believe is some pretty strong evidence. But you can see a comment for example from hoochgiese saying not always. . . well yes I agree that is true too. I have seen a track that was a paper clip with a short turn and it was all about instant rotation and immediate drive to get out of the corner. 3 wheels were still the fastest there. So there is a time for drastic setups when the track calls for it 😉
A little track in Eagle River WI is a paperclip three wheeling instant rotation type n fast!
Just a Friendly heads up , there are bushings inside of the frame the bolts go thru!!up here in the North them bushings ROT out and won’t allow the bolts to tighten properly, they end up just Squeezing the horns together!!! With this been said in race mode it’s an Awful feeling!!!
And rot is a real issue on these old metrics! These lowers have a bushing you pull the bolt all the way down tight on so that helps I think to avoid what you are warning us about. Another thing I always do is weld on washers on each outside wall of the brackets for the lowers. I'm not sure it's the end all be all thing but it sure seems like a good move to beef them up.
flemingfamilyracing here on youtube has some good videos on hummer cars. Builds and cage installs. Good channel to watch like yours. Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing.
I'll check them out Chad, Thanks
Thought maybe a derby car ? Good luck !
we're brave but not that brave!
From one racer to another and one lifter to another them Calves on kill brotha!!!!
HA! Yeah, growing up I hustled my money as a teenager mowing yards with a 20" Murray push mower . All the yards I mowed were the ones that were too steep for riding mowers. But I still hit leg day in the gym some 😜
Anyone else see the bolt moving up and down on lower control arm at 9:00?
Yep! So if you go back to the build video on that, it will make sense. It's a 3/8"bolt with 2 chain links attached to it to suspend it from the frame. It works really really well for this left front limiter.
@@DIRTRACELIFE Im not talking about the chain limiter, go watch the bolt head on the lower control arm
@@DIRTRACELIFE Zoom in on rear lower control arm bolt head, it has play.
No, They are tight, I checked them. Could be an video illusion or just how those spacers make the bushing so free.
Ok, I looked again to try and see what you see. I do see a video effect from the low light on the front one. but seriously they are tight 😉
I fill the hubs on the trailer.... Have smoked a few and believe the extra greese made it last long enough
Oh I absolutely am talking race car hubs ONLY!
good luck with the hummer skab plate the cage mounts
I'm studying that now, the rear halo stable points are obvious but I have to do some studying on the front
Any suggestions burning tires off on drive off
Bryan, Are you saying something like as you pull out on the track, lighting them up and spinning them? or pulling out on a street at home and spinning them?
Wow, had the same thing happen in my modified this last Friday, except it ripped the mount off the frame into the steering shaft. And it took a 3x3 chuck of the frame with it
Dang bud, That must have been one hell of a hit.
Good info … thanks
Glad it was helpful Mike
TRAIN...
LMAO, You have no idea how many shots I have started over because of that evening train!
@@DIRTRACELIFE lol... love your videos keep em coming. I'm always pulling for ya.
GREAT UPDATE . KEEP THEM COMING.
Yes Sir
The pin in that spindle is bent! Get ya another one
I'll check it Chad, and I do have a good one to replace it with and make this one a back up if it isn't bent.
Need a 3 piece spindle so you can just replace the arm
@@CherezianRacing I love watching your videos And dirt race life I check every day to see who’s got one
Unfortunately, I don't believe there is a 3 piece camaro spindle and I want the roll center effect the camaro creates.
Them dadgum tractor tires sure will get in your way. They make for inconvenient repairs.
Them puppies bite hard Jeff
Do you build chassis for customers?
No sir, I am not yet good enough to build a product that I am confident I can put someone in the winners circle with. I think I can build safe enough at this point but I am still working hard to have a complete plan on exactly what it takes to make a perfectly driving car.
@DIRTRACELIFE Well I'd like to have you do one for me one day. Let me know when you are ready.
So your going to make it tighter in and looser off .
I did this because I adapted my driving style to make the leaf car much better in the slick. And it is. But you drive it differently because you pick up the throttle on entry and roll into the corner instead of drifting it in on a slide/skate. comes through the middle much faster and you no longer need a ton of bite to get off the corner.
keep us info
New Steering box came in last night and planning to go back to filming tonight. No racing this weekend so maybe we can get two videos out.
I can’t believe that upper isn’t bent too that sucker is tuff.
They sure seem to be tough stuff.
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS MAN
Appreciate it
Dang Jason thats alot of damage. Those uppers must be strong huh?? Worth every penny for sure!! Glad you got it figured out. Take Care
Very Tough!
Howe sells balljoint pin checkers for around 13 dollars, my .02 they’re worth it
Well now I need one
Glad it’s mostly bolt on stuff. Keep diggin Racer !
I straightened the pitman arm out last night, that was about the worst of it other than going ahead and replacing the steering box
Looks like a lot to repair but really it not that bad . 👍
Mostly just bolt and go. I did end up straightening the Pitman arm since I had made it a custom step down for best bump (didn't want to have to do that again)
Paying your dues with the new car, hang in there 👍
I heard a couple guys call it the "New Car Blues" LOL
Glad I got to meet you this weekend those infield tires don’t move😂
Yes Sir, appreciate you stopping in and hell yes, they are hard!
Chuck that ball joint in a drill to see if it wobbles. I sent you a message on messenger the other day
Sorry about the delay on messenger I had to use a donor cell phone at the track because Verizon doesn't work there and am just now starting to catch up.
i was just going to tell him the same thing
Jason Dukes, you have built a solid piece. You should be proud of it and yourself. I’m not gonna Lie, I’d love to stretch the throttle springs on that hot rod bud! Keep diggin🤙
Appreciate it bud
Arching the entry instead of making a oval into a square will be the best fix ..
Always faster when it works out that way
Shocking the tires through the corner with the way you're in & out with the throttle. Also, much more smoother with steering using both hands.
Changing the steering finally, another $1000 I didn't have at the time I built it. Will improve the ratio and tighten the slack up some
Tough break. Still waiting too long to get back into the throttle. Soon enough and you'll be able to throttle around the corners.
Still not quite right. I think it did get better when I took a 1/2% left out of it but I think i need to take another 1/2% out
wish i was there
It's an awesome event for anybody into full fender dirt track racing
Those tires are like wooden fences they suck you were right in I hope you get to the bottom of what's going on I was really hoping the car would be in the winner circle one of these races
I was VERY surprised when it locked that steering sector up. I felt like I had just brushed it with the edge of the tire. . . .
Kid. Stop over thinking the setup. The difference between a hooked up track and a slick track are not that big. Air pressure and maybe a left rear spring. Take a night and don't change the setup, just how you drive. I'll bet the difference in how you run will be minimum from what your doing.
It was amazing watching all the guys who had a crew chief making adjustments tot eh cars right before they went on the track. Sometimes it was just air but I saw guys literally changing weight jack settings and shocks in the staging. The tech on these cars is so dialed in that when you have a track like this that changes a whole 3 seconds from fastest to slowest you have to be on top of a lot more then just "drive it different" I don't have the whole picture yet on how to be that good but being exposed to it for 4 days definitely helping me make progress. And the setup still isn't right for me yet, I think I am close but it's just not fitting me yet and it shows in how I end up driving the car.
I agree Jason. I think you are overthinking. I’m sure you know what the adjustment is supposed to make the car react. Just from your in car videos, now don’t take this the wrong way, you are over driving the car. Too much sawing back and forth is scrubbing off speed. Try slowing down to go faster. Entry, driving, let the car work. A good handling stock snout car will drive itself through the corners. I’ve been retired for a few years, but cars haven’t changed that much. And what are your front end settings? Left caster & camber. Right caster & camber?
Patting the gas in the corners is unhooking the front tires
the mic really pics it up. but that was less than an 1/8" pedal movement I guarantee you. I hear it and think wow that's crazy but man it's just a slightest adjustment in the pedal doing that....
Next stock car build I say ya go back to leafs and make em fast again lol
I love leafs but I think next up is retrofitting the 112" to factory stock for Rachel. And then I am going to reclaim my leafer for the big factory stock shows ;)
I hate you didn’t get to finish, but you put a whole Racecar back in the trailer. You’ll fix it and go again. Good to see yall, and I’ll see you soon.
I ordered a sweet unit this morning ;)
Why couldn't you go see the track?
too far away and too big a time gap from eyes on until out on it. track was changing fast.
Great kids!
I sure think so too, We met them last year down here
How she goes boys, how she goes. You're doing a great job with the car and the channel. Can't wait to congratulate you on your first win with this car. And you will get it, I'm sure of it. Take care Jason.
Appreciate it bud, still learning and not at all dissatisfied with this car. She is coming around slowly but surely
It was nice to finally meet you. Keep digging….
Yes sir, you as well
