Nice work as always Jason. This was a good video for a beginner it will help lots of people I’m sure. I’m anxious to see the on track videos coming soon !
The key is too easy maintenance cranks and bumps and starts is a another push button switch, wired parallel to the dash button engine side of the firewall. I have mine on a welded on tab, attached to the T bar, near the distributor. No need for 5 foot arms or locating small children a wife to assist.
Hey! No disrespect but the I on the Ford starter solenoids are to bypass the ballast resistor on the early points ignition systems. They are not meant to go to ground. The mounting bracket is the ground for a Ford starter solenoid.!!!!!
For an old ford, sure I have used a 4 pole ford that was internally grounded. But 100% must go to ground for that pole to make the solenoid work on these heavy duty 4 pole solenoids. Just have to run it to ground, otherwise it does not work because the factory harness with the safety loop doesn't exist. This one is a commercial job for a heavy trucking unit.
Parts store ford solenoids are ok to use but I have had brand new ones bust apart when cranking the car and that is not good. So using power equipment solenoid is the way to go.
My car is setup currently like you show with the alternator, but the problem is it leaves a hot line from the battery! I have now purchased a battery cut off with separate poles for the alternator side

Very good Job Jason. A way overlooked area generally.
It can be a really confusing when just staring at a jumble of wires especially for anyone new to this.

Seemed like the simplest way to do it :)

It does do that but like you are saying the only way around it would be a separate switch or you could run it though a relay also to handle that.
Not separate, one switch 2 contacts. Just thought it was worth mentioning. Also someone told me the disconnect should be on the negative side.
👍
Thomas, you are watching them all bud. Appreciate it sir!
Hello do you still use you tire machine that you made
Yes Sir, I sure do, Best $250 I ever spent 😉
