KLLM needs to have camera facing drivers.
Different strokes for different folks
I am considering either Crete or KLLM right now.. Have not decided, yet. Does KLLM force dispatch you? If a vegan driver doesn't want to haul meat would that be a problem?
If you are a company driver, then yes, it is forced dispatch. If you go lease, however, you can deny any load. So, as a company driver, I doubt you would be able to refuse meat loads, unless you're able to get onto a specific account, like Kraft. I believe they haul mostly cheese and stuff like that.
Hey, I am new here and just happened upon your channel. I am looking into KLLM and PAM. Do you have to work 7 days a week? Do they consider religious reasons for not working 7 days?
Good morning. I never heard of Pam. Unfortunately, most, if not all OTR (Over The Road) companies will require you to work all 7 days. I keep the Sabbath, but as a trucker I still have to drive during, unless I'm on home time. If having the sabbath off is a necessity, I would look into a local company or a company like TMC. They are a flatbed company, however. But they work 5 days and off on the weekends. That's a company I've been considering going with. I hope this helps. You can reach out for further details or more questions. Sorry for the late response.
What’s your name again bro ? Imma ask KLLM if you can be my trainer otr. I’m in the Jackson Ms area
First name: Ty-Gee Truck number 53940
All the best bro I like your videos very informative
Thank you so much, I try to be as informative as possible
Thank you bc no one would show the inside
No problem bro
Not as hard as it looks your setup and approach was wrong in due time you will get better
Yea, I've definitely gotten better over time. However, I hear negative things from folks with years of experience. To date, this is still the tightest spot I've been to. I've never seen anyone get in quickly. Definitely a tough spot for new and experienced drivers, even locals that go weekly.
Sold tips🙌🏾❗️
🙏🏽🙏🏽
Do you drive mainly nights or days at KLLM? I heard it’s more reefer than dry van and I know reefers mainly delivers at night… could be wrong though
I would say it's 50/50. Just depends on how you drive your clock to be honest. There's usually no specific night or day drive. Some choose to drive at night and some like me choose to drive during the day. When I was solo, I rarely drove at night. And I believe it's like 90% reefer here, we don't even carry dry van, our sometimes dry loads are still on a reefer trailer.
We do mostly food grade like candy and produce
Okay, yeah I hate driving at night. I’ll drive into the night but don’t wanna start up at night. Have a hard time staying awake lol. And okay that’s good. Being that the economy is so bad sounds like KLLM isn’t having any trouble being that y’all haul that kind of freight. I just put in my application but probably won’t hear from them until Monday. Preciate you commenting back pretty fast. Ik it’s tiring answering the same questions on different videos lol I had my own channel at one point
@Jeremiah-uh5lq It's all good, bro, lol. But yea. I haven't seen much of a change since I started
I remember that place
I'm graduating next week. Can you be my trainer?
Unfortunately no I will be training a new student this sunday. I appreciate you for reaching out, however.
Lol that’s not what the net is for 🤣🤣😭 Great video!
Tell me about it, lol. I still don't know what it's for.
@@bigsmoothtruckin it’s for a person to be able to lay in the sleeper and not fly out of it while another is driving! Like a seatbelt….a sleeper belt. The buckles are on the edge of the bed.
That's so dope and smart!! I'm glad you told me that.
A sleeper belt
How’s it going bro
Eh. So far, I'm liking it, but it's a little early to say whether or not I recommend it, still feeling it out. So far, good and bad weeks have arrived. That's kinda why I haven't made a video yet.
How’s the pay?? As a new comer?
Honestly it's some of the best. One of the best companies starting out in my opinion
I WAS OTR AS A FLATBED TRUCK DRIVER 1 yr STRAIGHT NO DAYS OFF I STILL DIDNT MAKE NO WHERE NEAR THIS AND WAS ON A 1099 I THINK I WILL TRY KLLM OUT I JUST WANT FAIR PAYCHECKS FOR MY CONSISTENT WORK
Oh wow! That's insane!
How do you properly do a trailer washout so you won't get charged for it
You just go to a blue beacon and they'll see you're a kllm driver and that's it. They just ask for your truck and trailer number and they don't need a check or card or anything. KLLM has an account with them.
Tru but sometimes I'm not around a bb I'm asking how do you do the proper steps so you it won't come out your check you get what I'm askin
Bc last few trailer washout its been takin out my check I do macro 19 an 56
Oh. You can ask if they accept EFS checks. If yes, you can do it that way. Otherwise, you, unfortunately, would have to do it the way you have been.
Im coming in with 3.5 months and they told me 57 cents
Only 3 cents short of 60cpm. Where are you coming from?
@@bigsmoothtruckin bro let’s not act like them 3 cents don’t matter now lol I’m coming from Jacksonville fl tho
Lmao, in trucking, every cent counts. I'm just an optimistic person, so I always talk on the good side of things, lol. It's still higher than a lot of starter companies, from what I see. It sucks that it changed, though. What company did you start with?
Paid hometime is the best one
I agree 100%
So if my math is correct than you made about $35-$37 an hour if it was hourly pay.
I believe so when I did the math myself. Not bad at all.
I believe so when I did the math myself. Not bad at all
@@bigsmoothtruckin I plan on getting my 15 months done with KLLM and then coming back and doing dump trucks. The companies out here pay $32 an hour with 0 experience dumping asphalt. I just gotta get some $$$ saved up for bills during the training portion of KLLM.
Most definitely! Bro, that's a solid plan! Why 15 months if they higher with 0 experience, though? Your contract would be up after 12 months.
Bro if I already have my cdl will they hire me straight out of school or does it have to be through their academy?
It has to be through their academy or have at least 3 months of experience
Can u dm please I’m currently in process of getting a new trainer I’m on week 3 but going home but on a waiting list for a trainer and I’d like it if u trained me
I would, but unfortunately, I don't train women. I have a fiancée and out of respect, I wouldn't unless it was someone we knew personally.
@@bigsmoothtruckin got it completely understandable
I split my 10 hrs sleep and the 14 hour clock is minus 13 hours 😮
That's pretty odd. I'm not sure how that happened
They got a lot of those warehouse's in ATL like that
Right, and they suck. Especially as a new driver.
I’m company driver at KLLM and my Peterbilt will go 75 with pedal
Oh wow! That's a blessing. I would be careful with that, though. Don't tell the wrong person, or they'd change it. Blessings, bro!
I worked at Us Xpress for a year during my rookie days & I was armed the entire time. Criminals don’t care about the law so why should I not protect myself from those idiots. It saved me once in Memphis, two idiots tried to rob me & when I pulled my gun out they took off down the street. I refuse to work at any OTR company that is governed less than 70mph. I hate drivers that drive 60mph but when you try to pass them they’ll go 65mph & you’ll look like the axxhole blocking up the left lane.
I'd put it like this, I word certain things certain ways because I do RUclips, and KLLM actually watch my videos. But I would rather lose my job than my life. And I feel you on the speed, lol. Even going 70 now, a lot of people go 68mph, and it kills me because it takes a minute to pass them only going 2 miles faster.
I have no experience currently waiting to start at my local technical college to get my CDL.. could I start with kllm afterwards? Or do you recommend getting CDL through kllm?
DEFINITELY get it through KLLM. They pay you to get it and then you're hired immediately. If you get it yourself, you'll need 3 months of experience before starting with KLLM.
@@bigsmoothtruckin how long is the the process with them as far as getting CDL? And what’s the pay while you’re getting them? Just wondering cause I have a house I still have to pay rent on …
21 days in school (I can't remember the pay, but either 250 or 500) and 6 weeks of training on the road, and that's 800 a week, no taxes if you have a MS drivers license.
I just finished online orientation...is the washout after every delivery legit? If you feel more comfortable we can talk by email
Shoot my IG Big_Smooth_Truckin bro
I'm interested in lease op / owner op at KLLM. Will be tuning in to your channel for info. Keep the content comin' 🤝 🤜🤛 🤙
Yes sirrrrrr! I've been slacking but imma start working on those videos for yall bro!🙏🏽
Does KLLM have APUs or opti-idle? Good luck on the lease purchase. 👍
They have Opti idle, for the Pete's I believe they can idle all night long (so I heard) And thanks brother!🙏🏽This is one of the hardest decisions I've made thus far
Im looking to come to KLLM at the end of the month. Is there anyway I could talk to you?
Absolutely, bro. You can hit my IG at Big_Smooth_Truckin, and we can set up a time to call. I don't mind talking and answering questions brother
My current company is only paying .44c[m and I have yet to ever hit 2500 miles in a week highest I’ve gotten is 2400. Im thinking of switching over to kllm but definitely nervous to switch companies. I don’t have a house payment or rent or a family to support but I really wanna get some debts paid off and my current place is only giving me about an 800 a week net average. Sounds like you get good miles at kllm though, I know every company will have its downfalls. Do you have driver facing cameras? Also I’ve seen some comments about truck shortage issues at kllm and new hires having to wait due to no trucks available do you know if that’s true?
In trucking, nothing is guaranteed, but I normally get more miles than that, I hit 3k miles pretty often. With you not having many bills and stuff, switching should be pretty easy. No driver facing cameras, but some that face the road. At one point, some had to wait, but when my student upgraded, they had one ready for him right away.
How can I contact you I have a question to ask concerning my son.
You can hit me on Instagram brother. I think I responded to you on there
Hey bro I think I seen you Friday in the white Kllm Truck. I was on the range on the concrete side practicing with the instructor matt practicing the offset parking. I think you was bob tail coming from the service area.
Dang. That's what's up, we sure were at the terminal on Friday too. Lol. That's what's up. Hopefully I'll run into you one day when you aren't busy🙏🏽🙏🏽Stay safe out on the road bro🙏🏽
@@bigsmoothtruckin Come to find out that my room mate that i just met said he spoke to you about training him. His name is Ronnie. We are in the same class. We both tested out successfully.
Congratulations to the both of you!!🙏🏽💪🏽💪🏽I really good yall got some good trainers too!
Does kllm do t calls to add more miles
Honestly, I'm not too sure what that is.
My biggest worry is taxes and permits does company help with that ie take them out your pay and keep trck or is that something that you would have to do yourself? Thinking of going to kllm withen next 4 months or less.
As far as taxes, that's on you so your responsibility. That's what I'm nervous about still. As far as permits, I believe they take care of all of that for use.
You can almost always count on unexpected expences when you get your big checks.
Absolutely! It's part of the trucking life. Gotta just accept it. But it's not too bad in my opinion. Just life
For anyone looking for a different perspective. Thats about $5500 a month so yeah thats great money whether you have a family or not
Absolutely!!
I’m with marten my guarantee 1350 and they love to give the bare minimum. $1100-1300 shit sucks
Dang, hoe long have you been with them. And are you OTR??
If you're in a walk away lease, it's not a lease purchase. It's not lease purchase if you don't own the truck at the end of the lease term. lease and lease purchase are not interchangeable terms. Walk away leases you don't usually end up owning the truck.
That's the reason KLLM has one of the best lease programs. At the end of the lease term I'll own the truck 100%
it's a lease purchase deal as you own the truck if you complete. walk away means that you can terminate the lease at anytime if you want to and won't be liable.
@@terrygamble986 EXACTLY!! Thank you for the simple breakdown, I couldn't have said it better!🙏🏽
@@bigsmoothtruckinhow long is the lease terms?
I believe 5 years for solo drivers and 2 ½ for team or trainers
U a trainer at Kllm?

Do you have any idea of how much you took home after taxes for the last year as an employee?
I can find out pretty quickly. Shoot me a message on Instagram, and I can send you a picture of before and after taxes of the entirety of last year
@@bigsmoothtruckin I don't have instagram...was just wonder roughly what you made in a year (60k...70K at KLLM)..no picture needed.
@jl909-nr5vx oh okay. I made 72 before tax, and I believe around 10k in taxes? So about 60k after. I think I might have put it a pay video but I honestly don't remember if I did or not
Yea. I have the last pay check with all the info in the video titled "update: kllm pay/Yearly income"
@@bigsmoothtruckin That's about standard OTR annual pay. Would you say you took off a total of maybe 50-60 days through out the year last year...or did you work 365 days last year non stop?
That's awesome man Congratulations and good luck
Thanks bro! I appreciate that. I'm hoping for the best🙏🏽🙏🏽
happy for you dawg, i been here since the first video, got one more month before i finish my first full year with kllm
How much did you take home after taxes in the last 11 months?
@@jl909-nr5vx i’m single with no dependents but right under 50000 after taxes, could’ve been more but i did training for 4 weeks so didn’t get paid as much as i would with my own truck and had to wait 3 additional weeks for a truck when i upgraded and they don’t pay you during that time
Most definitely, bro! I still gotta meet you, man. I remember you from day one, I believe you were actually my first subscriber man, I appreciate your support so much, man. And that one year mark gonna feel nice!
@@jl909-nr5vx i netted a little over 50000, could’ve been a bit more but i had 4 weeks with training pay and an additional 3 weeks of not getting paid while waiting for a truck once i finished otr training.

Now that you’ve been at it for a good while What do you recommend to be able to make 2k a month take home? I’m starting a local job tomorrow as a 1099 no experience but I want to make more money and rather do something like regional or dedicated or 4 out and 4 at home. I wanna take home like 2k a month with benefits. My buddy does a 4x4 schedule is making about that take home but just trying to hear from guys in the field.
It depends on what you mean by 4×4. I haven't heard of many jobs offering 4 days on 4 days off. But honestly, in trucking, 2k a month is super easy, once you start with that local company, you'll find out that it's easily obtainable. 4k a month isn't too hard either. Now if you meant 2k a week. That'll be different
@@bigsmoothtruckin oh I meant 2k take home a week 😂 my bad lol
hey great information really appreciate your crystal detailed break down, yeah I agree kllm. sounds good I've been looking around everyone says the same. days off 2xwk,and cpm is above average and equipment is good fridge etc , question do they hire off the east coast ???do u take your truck home for home time ???? thanks appreciated
Most definitely! I do my best. And I believe they do hire out of east coast but I don't know if they do for the school. And they let you take the truck home if you live far enough from the terminal. So I do take my truck home each time.
I wanna go otr 1yr straight no home time
Well my friend, if you did that, you'll make a whole lotta money. Because you still will get paid hometime so that will be an extra $1,400 every 7 weeks on top of the miles you ran
Hey my son is on a. Trainer truck now with KllM. He’s been on the road about two weeks he is having a little trouble with his backing skills do you have any advice you could pass onto him thanks. I like your videos be safe out there
