The older men are aghast at the way Snow is wrecking the ‘institution of the Nights Watch’ while unwilling to do anything regarding the advancing army of the dead or protecting the realms of men(everyone) from them. if realms of men are destroyed from a game of thrones then there is no way of defending against the army, if the wildlings are lost then it is addition to their army. Saving them won’t discount for their uncouth behaviour such as that of the giant attacking. Jon is in the right but his circumstances are so demanding, death seemed too kind for his burdens.

I wonder if in the end, after Jon is back and fulfills his duty to the realm, as a King Jon will pass on the crown to Robb’s son and take recluse in the cave up the ‘Real North’

This is my favorite chapter from A Clash of Kings. It was very late in the book and Jaime never even appeared throughout all the 800s pages but he was often talked about by other characters. It was so exciting to finally get to read a dialogue with him and Catelyn, and a perfect kick off to start his amazing arc in A Storm of Swords.

Omitting this from the show was the biggest mistake D and D ever made.
