In a (fictional) world of terrible people, and parents, Tywin still is one of the worst father’s ever put to screen/page. He is brutal, cruel, vindictive, and worst of all he is those things to his own flesh and blood. This chapter always makes me happy (kind of) to read Tyrion finally take his retribution after all the years of abuse. It was very difficult for Tyrion, for obvious reasons, killing his father. But man, the humanity in these book characters is palpable.

When Lord Tywin was first introduced he had a deep welsh accent in a GOT. Trouble is Tywin does not have all that much dialogue until ASOS at which point Roy Dotrice (the narrator) still keeps the welsh accent but he slowly phases it out. I do not know if he did this on purpose as all the Lannisters speaking in a Welsh accent became confusing, especially with the introduction of Jaime as a POV in the same book, who talks in a similar way to Tywin. Or merely because he has to voice over 100 characters and simply forgot with the book gap. However, while listening to the audio books the change is very gradual and hardly noticeable unless you pay close attention. It only seems to be a stark contrast when comparing it the Tywins introduction in a GOT.

Cersei doesn't think about it. She doesn't give two shits about political and practical sides. And especially she doesn't care about consequences.
And it doesn't matter how many hardships Tyrion had endured in his life (thanks to Tywin and Cersei). He is just as ruthless as Tywin, he's prideful as well, and in current state of story he plots to bring a war on entire Westeros just to have his revenge. He's a great villain, we can understand where all his hatred, rage and pain comes from, but that doesn't change all awful things he done throughout the story and things he will do (if GRRM finishes series ofc).

At first I was simple minded and didn’t appreciate Tywin Lannister. But then as I read the story and got into more of the lore Tywin Lannister became my favorite character, or at least one of them. People love to make excuses for the characters they like and crap on the more nuanced and intelligent characters like Tywin. He was the only real chance besides Ser Kevan for a marginally United Westeros and some order brought in. But Tyrion, a lame, lazy, selfish spiteful and narcissistic character is given the plot armor and means to kill one of the best characters. What irritates me most about the books is that characters who should in fact die don’t. When weak and useless characters flourish. Tyrion isn’t even worth a tenth of Tywin and yet he gets plot armor galore. Same with Daenerys and Sansa. Realistically they’d be the first ones dead

Tywin mocked Tyrion consistently, making him manager of drain and cisterns in Casterly rock and prevented him from claiming his rights as heir to casterly rock.
