“I could write down that me member is as long and thick as me arm, doesn’t make it so.”
Lol. Tormund is a joy in every adaptation.
It’s so disappointing that the show took the mystery out of this letter.
I suspect it's gonna go down at least a bit differently.
its definitely mance
@@fuegodrinkscauseusuck6100 Yeah Mance sent this. As to why we can only wonder (I suspect it's to get Jon to do something like this and his brothers prevent him, which is what happened).
In the show they freed up Jon to take back Winterfell. Hence there is no mystery as to who wrote the letter.
@Jose Hill And in the show virtually none of it makes any logical sense or connects, foisting the character arcs and plot points of completely seperate and distinct characters on the few they actually bothered to include in the show (i.e. giving Asha & Theon Victarion's-among a few others-or Jon given Stannis', Jorah given Jon Connington's etc).
Only books matter 😀
YES
The shows did give us some amazing music
@@alexdigg Music I'll listen to while I read the books
🤓
The first few seasons had great moments tho
Love is the death of duty.
This was such a badass scene when I read it jon snow is so done and is finally ready to go and fight the boltons
Yeah I was so hyped and next chapter he die lol
I love how throughout the novels he thinks of Arya most whenever he thinks of the family, he thinks of Winterfell he thinks of Arya, and Arya is finally his breaking point. He will not let her suffer the horrors that everyone else is resigned to let her face.
I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men.
@@yadisdis4207 I always think of it as Jon having like "3 tests". His first being him wanting to desert the nights watch to help Robb in his war but eventually deciding not to. His second being wanting to desert to join Ygritte and the wildlings but choosing not to. His third being wanting to accept Stannis's offer of legitimisation and choosing not to in order to not infringe on the Stark legacy.
"Arya" and Ramsay are his final test, him having to choose between following his duty as a member of the nights watch, which would leave him unhappy and his closest (and as far as he's aware) only family he has left being left to suffer at the hands of the notorous bastard of the dreadfort. Ygritte always mentioning to him how he was never really free as a member of the nights watch since he would have to live his entire life "following the commands of old men" and was not "waking up" to reality.
And yet here he was, a young man (still only 17 though he may have been 18 since the timelines are unclear) in theory the highest ranking member of the nights watch, and still being contrained and unhappy. So for once he chooses for himself what he truly desires, to go South for the first time since he joined the Nights Watch, to free his sister, his house, and the North from the Boltons, and to free himself from his meaningless oaths that have only left him as a bystander to watching the deaths of all he cared about.
This ended up being a bit long winded but I hope it made sense, always did feel Jon Snow gets shat on a bit as a boring "shallow" character but I do feel he's extremely interesting in his own rite alongside Tyrion and Jaime. Hopefully once he is (presumably) revived in WOW we see a more tormented, but "freeer" Jon Snow.
@@zexal4217 WOW is never coming out
@@1azey Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.
Love the books! And Roy Dotrice did an amazing job bringing the words to life
Dance is not my favorite book by any means but Jons chapters in this books are probably on of the best in the entire series. The way he keeps pushing himself to do what he thinks is right, rejecting everything he always wanted and pushing everyone that likes him away just to keep focused on prepraring the night watch for the upcoming threat. But the minute he learns that Arya is in danger, he drops eveything just to try to save her. An that single mistake cost him everything, such a perfect moment, after an entire book of breaking traditions for a selfless cause, what ends up killing him is breaking his oath for a selfish cause
Love is the death of duty.
Jon shows us that he’s not simply beholden to the archaic honor that fell the Stark men of old. Here is the blood of the dragon!
Might want to look up nights watch history lol
Nah, starks of old were not honorble dutiful yes but not honorble they were hard, cold, ruthless men willing to do everything to protect their people and their hold of the north
If you listen closely, you can hear some audiobook behind the music.
I was thinking the same thing. The music is a bit too loud. 😂
Love everything you're reading, thank you!!!
I don't think Stannis is dead, he went west and saved the house Glover and Mormont and some mountain clans from the Iron Island invaders and gained their support. He was a cunning, battlehardened man and extraordinary battle commander who fights his own battles on the front line. Also, he had a loyal, strict and disciplined army with the support of some true northeners. It's a false provocative letter to lure Jon for doing something stupid. I think, Stannis will crush them all, he doesn't deserve to die this way.
@@gurugreat5663 “Robert could piss in a cup and men would call it wine, but I offer them pure cold water and they squint in suspicion and mutter to each other about how queer it tastes.”
I think that he’s alive right now and he’s gonna win the war in the north, but he is probably not gonna survive long after. Thats my guess, as much as I want stannis to be king of westeros, I seriously doubt its gonna happen.
He was in the winds of winter sample chapter so ye
Ramsay is a liar, Stannis won't be defeated by some kid who never be in real battle.
Love your channel! If you're taking suggestions you should do the Davos POV when the blackwater gets set on fire, or maybe Joffrey's death?
Another suggestion: please, please, please mix your audio better. I can barely hear the words over the music.
Oh, c'mon, Mance! That's some nasty letter to send !
Stannis wrote it
@@priceaboverubies90 i am pretty sure stannis dint know how many spearwives mance rayder had
@@priceaboverubies90 Stannis couldn’t have wrote the letter, it’s not in his nature to play mind game tactics.
@@aureum7479 It's not his nature to burn his nephews and kill his brother but he signed off on it
@@J10005 he didn't kill his brother he thought he dreamt it and melisandre didn't tell him of the consequences of the shadow baby
Clearly u didn't read the books and make ur opinions based on d&d's shitty show
Love these videos
Hey! Love these little bits of the audiobook, fantastic work you're doing my friend. As advice from an audio editor/narrator to another, please reduce the volume of the music as I can't hear the words. And maybe add music that matches the conversation? But that's it - look forward to seeing your channel grow! :)
RIP Rattleshirt
I believe Mance wrote it…..
As much as I loved the show prior to season 8 and maybe 7n the books were way more detailed they shouldn't have left the books so much.
Let's forget seasons 6, 7 and 8 ever happened. Winter is coming!
@@sarablueshoes6950 6 was at least watchable and still had some intricacies within the plot to make you want more. I basically just wanted to finish what I had started after that especially season 8 that was terrible. I'm absolutely certain I could and would have done a better job concluding the show.
Thanks for sharing
What's this song specifically? Can't seem to find it in the suite
Does the audiobook come with music, or is it just added on by the uploader?
Hot damn.........
it could be stannis for all we know. he and his men and starving and freezing. he could of been talked into it. but what good would jon and some wildings do, they'd end up in the same predicament plus it'd take too long for jon to join his forces. unless word got back from the neck that jon is legitimized and the new king....
Strong Belwas wrote it.

At first I thought Ramsay sent that letter. It’s brutish enough but I rethought about it. Next a theory that Mance Rayder wrote it intrigued me as well but I decided to give up on many of the theories I believed and discarded this one too. But then I had another one presented to me. That Bowen Marsh wrote that letter. And Clydas was in on it with many other people. As I’ve said most of the theories of GoT I believed in are gone but this one’s not one
Why put music over this? It isn’t on the actual audio book and it makes it harder to hear and concentrate
I figured out who wrote the pink letter 💌
Care to share with the class
The music really is too loud
After theon fled with jeyne Poole. Mance and the spear wives were caught, or maybe just a spear wife. Tortured at the dreadfort until they told roose or Ramsey the plot...
hmm could be
Hodor sent the pink letter
It is probable that wasn’t written by Ramsey but mance
maester aemon wrote the pink letter
Not seen this said before. Why do you think this?
No way Ramsay wrote that letter, right?
Yeah Mance 1000% wrote the letter
Tormund you sussy baka. Telling Jon he can't read when chapters earlier he told him that he can write his own name in a parchment with Maester's ink
Music too loud
Your wife moans too loud lol giggity.
my guy can you turn down the music i cant hear the words
No
Music is too damn loud.
Stannis wrote the letter
it was clearly ramsay. what do you mean?
@@RageArtEnthusiast in a sample chapter of Winds of Winter George released it was revealed that Stannis captured Theon after he flew Winterfell. Stannis could write the letter with the information Theon provided. His motive would be to lure Jon Snow with his forces and help him against Boltons.
Plus, Stannis also captured Bolton maester who could provide him pink wax and further information about style and character of Ramsay
@@wojtekpiotrowski5057 wow i see. thats interesting. I should read the books lmao.
I don’t think Stannis would do that. He has honor
Ramsay wrote the pink letter
No
No
music way too loud. awful.
Cry.
@@mangekyou0g872 u mad cause I'm right 🤷🤷
I'm guess this letter was most likely written by Stannis and some others helping him after he won the Battle of the Ice
