Tree Climbers love an Ivy Clad Tree
Arbor Ace team starting the day off by pushing back some sycamore from the customers property then moving on to a willow tree needed lightly reducing on one side. We finished off the day by removing 2 trees and stacking the wood for the customer. Day 1 of 2 complete. thanks for watching

Easy way to stay compliant at work and just use one rope installed at the top. Not sure if you're aware but you are allowed to have 1 rope that reaches the ground and just a lanyard round the tree like normal. as long as you don't remove every of them you can go up and down getting the job done.     Great work and fun video to whatch! In one sequence towards the end when you were still working in the canopy you seemed to have some rather scary work positioning with the rope running pretty much horizontally away from you to an anchor point on a branch in another segment of the canopy... - or did you have another anchor point above you I did not see...?😳😀

      Thanks mate! I think what you was seeing would have been a redirect. I did 3 or 4 in the tree but still originally tied into the main stem. Defo would have been scary to just anchor into the side limbs on this one 😅. Thanks for the comment hopefully this clarifies it for some other people as we well 👍🏻

    I like how you work. Clean cuts, thinking before and after cutting to make the right decisions, making the smallest cuts as possible but at the same time reducing the necessary weight (looks like). I like these kind of jobs myself.

    Would something like the Edelrid fuse be better still a back up device but dosent need as much tending

      That’s a fall arrest device so would have to be attached to the dorsal or sternum. Like the ASAP and also you need to have an absorber with it and free space to fall into which 9 times out of 10 we have branch’s under us. Hope that all makes sense

    Im exploring tree climbing and once i can afford to i want to do a tree surgeon course. Why make a second rope mandatory? And do you have a source for the guidelines so i can see exactly what likely poorly thought out rules our 'sensible' government has come up? I mean obviously i dont know my ass from my elbow currently but surely a second rope is overkill safety wise. Clearly it has its place but why make it mandatory?

    Maybe you could have made 3 cuts for each and then an average... 😬 But if you say they snap...there's not much else to say

    Us americans just run around the tree on our one tie in , i’m confused why you’d need two points of attachment to move ?

      and also if you’re ascending quickly would you need another anchor attached to your bridge ? where would you attach it? because two anchors attached to your bridge is technically only tied in once. so do you have to rope walk with your lanyard around the tree?

      @@jonathanspafford7181 this is just a away of doing small trees. Bigger trees yes we would have 2 ropes anchored at the top. You can clip both systems to 1 bridge only wearing 1 harness lol

      Hey mate, Yes very comfortable but if you do a lot a walking you will most likely wear out the soft grippy rubber on the bottom pretty quick that’s the only issue. But great for climbing

    Nice one. Surprising how many people still argue to the hilt just based on what someone told them, even some instructors. The source material is readily available and pretty easy to understand so good to see that you have helped de bunked a few myths for a few people.

    whats your source for the information that you only need 1 anchor point with a rope that has an unobstructed run to the floor? Obviously we can ascend and descend on one line but for cutting i am pretty certain you need 2 anchors and lanyard.

      I’m following TG1 guide book. So using a saw in the tree you only need 2 points of attachment so a main line and a lanyard is good enough 👍🏻

    Did you have you descent line on at all times with your flipline? That is so tedious. Any tips for keeping them working together?

      Yes I kept them both on all the time due to having to do it like this in the Uk with being attached twice at all times. It’s not ideal but practice makes perfect 👍🏻

    You still need 2 anchors that reach the ground and the usual positioning lanyard when cutting anything.. so if you had just climbed this birch the way you did, that’s okay. But cutting anything is not!

      That’s still not correct as long as you’re tied in twice while cutting is fine.

      Sorry but the that is incorrect only 1 rope needs to reach the floor. This is why I have shown this that you can get away with just 1 rope that reaches the floor and a lanyard 👍🏻

      @@mickarblife I will look into it again but I was certain the whole thing was having two separate anchors on main lines/anchors that reach the ground and anchors that are both life supporting. So you are saying as long as you don’t move you can be suspended on one anchor point and as long as both your main anchor and your lanyard can suspend you (lanyard over a branch/peg/union) if you cut one of them, you can cut with just a lanyard and a main line anchor point? That doesn’t make sense still as that’s how it’s always been. *One anchor and a lanyard/two connection points when cutting*

      @@elchevinit yes as long as you don’t move you can move one of your systems and reattach it. So in small trees like this you can climb just like you always have no difference to the good old days. When your cutting you will have 2 attachments like we always have so no different there.

      It works so well on the right job. Allows for larger rigs and it all goes to the chipper so win win in my eyes

      @@mickarblife Even nicer when you can get it that far, but actually this was a lower, wider spreading tree that spanned three back yards, and one was locked and inaccessible. I wanted to send bigger pieces rigged flat with a spider leg, and with the weight supported my a lowering line so as to be able to clear the fence. There was a place to anchor the speedline so that we didn't have to haul all the weight over my just pulling a tag line. His way worked, but was exhausting; he works harder not smarter. Luckily it was a friday, and we all had time to recover.
