Loved the view from halfway along the boat of Rozzie on the tiller. Gave it a totally different perspective. Don't know about the black pudding sandwich though.

Such a lovely canal - we cruised to Chester many times. We moored at Anderton so it was a great cruise always. We moored before the lock just before The Old Oak and walked up to Beeston Castle. On the way down the most incredible storm broke and the only cover was a row of oak trees. Once it slowed we made a dash back to the boat. Having dried off and into dry clothes in less than half an hour I have a photo of my John sitting on the towpath cleaning our copper in brilliant sunshine and clear blue sky. You will really love the rest of the cruise to Chester ( our favourite city) Make sure to do the City Walls walk it is fantastic

Gosh, those Northgate Locks are soo deep! No wonder it takes so long to fill and get through. Between the height standing on the side AND the depth when on Thistle and Rose, they are both claustrophobia AND acrophobia inducing!!! You must be glad they are behind you! We Aussies are fans of black pudding too! I must add one to my shopping list 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣

You really should have reported those kids to the police, while it might be a bit of fun for them - it isn't for everyone else. Your first instinct when you saw them again was to hide your camera equipment which tells us it was more than them just "being kids". The situation was bad enough for you to move on another 3 miles to safety. I feel sorry for the owner of the boat that got boarded by them, must have been frightening, even more so seeing other boaters just leave them to it.

For all the good there is always some bad. We like your attitude, and moving on is the best way. Here's hoping you had some better days thereafter! Fit like. You mentioned the yobs jumping on the boats. Have you seen what happened to the couple on Duo Vagari. They are renovating a big barge. Some young kids got onto it and smashed their new double glazed windows. Keep cruising and take care.

That’s the great thing about narrow boating, you can just start up and leave when there’s noise or possible trouble. Can’t do that living in a house or flat. In my family we call black pudding, “blood sausage”. I don’t know which is better. We eat ours with cranberry sauce, especially at Christmas. That was one deep lock. Can certainly be scary. been there the caslte is on the hill which you can see from the Shady Oak pub we moored up about 150 yrds up from the pub was very nice hope you enjoy watch out for the Iron lock submerged iron plate come loose from the side of the lock DANGER keep left going down right going up that lock .

Absolutely superb. Just back from the Llangollen and it was a beautiful cruise.

From Birmingham, so was nice to see it from a different perspective, I don't often visit that area but will try and visit to see where you moored your boat. Keep up the good work, love all your videos.

What lovely surroundings on this section of the canal. The lock situation was a bit worrying! Glad nothing bad happened! ❤ What a blissful life for your lovely dogs! New and exciting walks every day with their people.

If it was a double lock, maybe the people who filled the top lock were a little upset you didn't let them join you going down. Maybe they thought you were wasting water going in on your own. Just a theory. But it is wrong to fill top lock while someone is in bottom lock, bad practice

Love having this slightly early this week. You seem to have some good weather, too, plus luck with the moorings. It feels to me that something should be posted at that double lock to say dont fill the upper whilst someone and their boat is in the lower. Maybe a strong email to the canal people suggesting revised signage? Anyway, lovely to see you both out and about. Rozzie is looking fit, and I love that she can work and get time to do the running and lock gates. Inspiration to all us lounge-bound hopeful canal goers. Toodle pips!

Hi, American here, why is the canal so muddy looking? Is it normal or have you had a lot of rain lately? Love seeing Ralph and Rosie and all the pubs!

We had a very similar instance on the Wigan flight in a 60 foot hire boat. Whoever went up the lock did not fully close the paddle so when we went down it sprayed out at the back of the lock onto our back cruiser stern. It took a while for our crew on the ground to work out what was going on by which time the engine bay was half full of water and the engine had cut out. We survived but to stay it didn’t scare the hell out of us is an understatement. We loved the cruise from Chester to Ellesmere and the walk up to Beeston Castle. The canal museum is so worth the trip.

Fit Like. Thanks for your kind words. Life goes on as they say. Felt sorry for Rob with his three "events". That lock was certainly a tad scary. Like you said if you had been a longer boat it would have been serious. I've got myself back into rock tumbling and making bracelets so that keeps me off the streets. Take care both of you.
