  • This week we also share our plans for the winter, keep cruising or take a winter mooring!
Hi, we are Rozzie & Rob with our lovely cockapoo's Ralph & Rosie. We have given up the rat race, sold our house and have bought a new narrowboat, Thistle & Rose. Our vlogs are showing our learns as we go from bricks and mortar to life on the water. Join us as we literally learn the ropes of becoming continual cruisers on England's 2500 miles of canals & rivers.
Our vlogs are ideal if you have ever wondered what it's like to live on a narrowboat or are considering to make the leap and buy your very own narrowboat. There's always some humour, lots of mistakes and always a few drinks being poured. Subscribe to our channel, ask us a question or just watch our videos as there's something for everyone.

Hi, Barry again. Re your winter mooring, check out Aqueduct Marina, Church Minshull, Cheshire. They seem to have everything you need for winter mooring, maybe I'll see you there,

Fantastic boat. One suggestion, more views of the countryside as you move along and less of straight on view of boats. Good job.

Thank you for the feedback, we have noticed this too, and have tried to incorporate this on more recent vlogs - certainly this year.
      Thanks for watching ☺️

I watched your boat tour and what a great set-up! I love the bigger kitchen (as a former pro cook, that would’ve been my choice too)
The weather where I live (Vancouver Island) is similar to what you experience - fairly mild winters and loads of rain - so I feel your pain! 😅

Thank you! If you watch video number 9 you’ll see what winter on a boat is like! 😊

Hi, we used to watch the Holly Cafe boat but they have gone a bit weird. Like your content. Do you have a video explaining if you work remotely. Watching from NZ

I think we’ve mentioned it a few times, I (Roz) work remotely part time and we have a video about working and wi-fi video number 6 👍🏼

I fully agree with you plans to stay in a Marina during the winter months, been there done that. I had a 36ft sailboat that I kept at the dock of a couple that we were good friends with, which cost us nothing. During the winter months I would rent a slip for the winter, I had an electric hookup I stayed plugged in the entire winter which kept by boat warm all winter because of the electric heater I kept on the boat. I also had access to water within three feet of my boat and the cost of water was factored in the monthly slip cost. The Marina also had a restaurant on property that served three meals a day which used often. Our car was parked about a 100 yards from our boat which made it so easy for us to go shopping when needed.

Yes it’s makes perfect sense for facilities etc we’ll see how we get on and see if it suits us! Thanks for watching 😀

This is for Rob. First my credentials. I was a product Mngr at Esso Canada, part of my line were cleaners and waxes. First, if you use the best product, you only need to wax twice a year, spring and Autumn. In my experience the best product was MCGUIRES. This is from California and is used on the show cars. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. They have a wax that you can apply to the whole boat, then polish it, it's the best.
You can most likely get it from B&Q which is Home depot in Canada. someone will have it, look until you find it, I promise you won't be disappointed. Barry Bentley. p.s I have been following you since the beginning, great job!

Hi Barry, thats great advice as the wax I used was OK but I'd previously been using AutoGlym spay and there wasn't a big difference in the finish to make the hard work worth it. I'll definitely give McGuires a go. Thanks for the advice and following us, I'll let you know how it goes. Cheers Rob.
