From the picking, to the cutting, to the grinding of the apples, you’ve got a lot of work, just for juice. I have a different appreciation for apple juice prices now. Looks delicious. What a treat.
“A strongly worded letter” 😂😂😂 - always a good day to wake up and see there’s a new vid from your smallholding. Loved the update and the new voiceover form intro ❤
It’s beautiful seeing morning fog in the sunrise but yep 😢😢 dark by 7:30 pm is no fun. 🤭 my super dwarf apple tree has its one apple 🍏. Pigs with apple sauce stuffing 😂. 7:09 I’m surprised Steven’s not made a stand for the apple shredder. 😂😂 are you talking from the lavatory Tracy. He’s mad at you Steven 🤦♀️. Oh now you’ve put your foot in Steven she’ll be planning all night long. 23:55 hello Rodney and Buster, our poor dog can’t run loose we have predatory birds and coyotes. A fantastic update to all, have a super and hopefully sunny weekend, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦
Just found your channel...top work top and content. My house in sussex is up for sale and I'm looking to start my own smallholding in Normandy. So I intend to binge watch your back catalogue...and as others have said...your lamb stew looked bloody handsome. ✌️
Fantastic I love these videos of all the weekend jobs. Apples are amazing! The flavour of the Large blacks is lovely they look in great condition. I slap mark mine the day before I take them to the abattoir don’t fancy my hands so close to their mouths to put tags in 😂 Xx
Ohh they kinda look like braeburn apples, love their juice and they make a great apple pie/tart apple. EDIT Pro tip, drill a couple holes in the "legs" of the pulper and you can bolt it down. Then remove/modify the handle so it can be grabbed in the chuck of a battery drill. Makes it much easier, quicker and safer
Why not save some apples to eat whole through the winter season, as they retain their fibre when they aren't juiced. Lovely video guys, really interesting.
With all those fruit trees I'd invest in an electric food mill/juicer. I'm in the Northeast too, do you recommend somewhere I can buy half a pig and half a cow for my freezers?
Pigs looking great, I think ours might be a bit too fat, but she’s going next week so we shall see and I’ll be leaving the tag to my other half 😂. Now Steven has said about moving that fence it’s pretty much a done deal, there’s thousands of people out here in RUclips land waiting to see it!!! I’m watching this at elevenses time and never before have I wanted lamb stew and apple juice more than a coffee and biscuits YUM. I was also wondering how you’ve found your chickens as table birds this year? I’m thinking of trying another breed to run alongside ours, do you have a preference out of your two? Fingers crossed for a bit more sunshine for the garden, Thankyou both xx
How did the pig get on? You’re so right on what Steven said 😂 thank you! Very kind. We would highly recommend the Rhode Island reds for table birds. Take care!
What type of pigs do you have? We have kept Berkshires for the past few years but they do tend to run fatty, delicious meat though and lovely pigs to keep.
Me and my wife have just found this channel, and we love it! But can you settle a debate we've had, haha. Im from the northeast, and my wife is from Cumbria, and im certain your accent is Boro/Stockton way, but my wife says you sound like you're from Cumbria, especially Stevens accent. 🙂
This one is actually from Amazon! Sadly out of stock but this was the title if you search for it again - mine is 7 litres. Browin 330510 African Cauldron - Safari 7 L | Cast Iron | Deep Camping Pot with Lid, Lid Lifter and Feed | For Outdoor Cooking, Black
Tenéis un canal de youtube precioso de contenido. Esos cerdos negros parecen de raza ibérica o parecidos y te anticipo que su sabor es absolutamente fantástico y con la grasa infiltrada. Buena suerte !!! ❤🍀
Just stumbled into your channel. Very nice content. I would have enjoyed the opening even more if your audio was slower and presented in a much more relaxed manner. Just a suggestion for improvement.
Welcome! Ahh the never ended speed taking. We do try but we’re from the North East and it’s embedded in to us to talk fast :) we’ll keep trying! Thank you
Hey, yes, we’ve covered this before. There’s a reason we have horses and wouldn’t live here if we didn’t. Long term, there’s a jersey in the plans but not whilst the horses are here.
30:48 Hi both.... you need to careful Steven in my experience "might" is often the statement preceeding "when are we going to..." 😂 Seriously though lovely video again ... did you say frost? 😮 How long did the stew take to cook?
You know us too well 😂 maybe an hour or so? I didn’t really time it but the hear was intense in the fire so I’d like to slow it down next time. Was very tender all the same

That stew looked fab 😊
That was a lot of work for one day finished off with a delicious looking stew well done 😊

I definitely think there’s a device coming for the shredder 😂 hope you’re doing ok Ali, been chasing my tail here.
Chic, what a fab opener!

Thank you lovely!! We looked at slap marks but the applicator was crazy expensive! X
Nice to watch your videos, this is how we know what is life like on the other side of the world in real time, tq for sharing.
How wonderful, thank you - where in the world are you watching from?
How inspirational ❤ I live in the Midlands, and have often thought about creating a vegetable garden….. I just don’t know where you get the energy 😂😂😂
Ohh that's always a challenge!
Fabulous video, chic. Covered so many things about the smallholding. Totally deserves all the views and new subscribers. Well done!!❤
Thank you lovely xx
What a lovely opening x
🤤that stew looked amazing, great video
Well guys what a fantastic video. I make engineering & car video's but this was brilliant to watch. Good luck for the future.
Steve.
Thank you Steve, really appreciate you taking the time to comment. We didn’t expect the video to be quite so far reaching 😊

Good to know! Thank you!

Absolutely fabulous idea. We have done this previously 👌 thank you for watching

Thank you. I would say try a local abattoir first and chat with them about where the meat is from 👌
for pulping I use a plasterers paddle and use the lid from the fermenting bucket to avoid splashes. its a lot quicker in my opinion
Thank you for sharing!

These were large blacks and beautiful
Just found you! Love it. What breed of hogs? I love that you’re not breeding for super fat - no point in just having acres of lard and no meat!
These guys were large blacks. Lovely they were!
I always dreamed of a small holding, but it just never happened.
Might be worth making a frame for the crusher stick a bucket underneath.
Great idea, thank you 🤩

Haha welcome and I don’t want to cause further debate 😂 but Stockton born and bred! Living County Durham now 💪
@OurSmallholdingAdventure i thought so.i wont rub it in much haha
Guys at the end you cooked a stew .can you tell me where you got that cast iron pot from..

I bought a refurbished food processor for £25 and use it to grate all the apples. Less arm work.
Absolutely!
do you sell and post your rubs and if you do what rubs do you do ps i love watching your small holders videos
Thank you - that's very kind. Apologies but we don't sell any, no.

Do you sell your island Rhode reds? Would be interested in buying some depending where you are in the country.
If we have a surplus we do. We’re County Durham :)
I’m very very jealous of your apple harvest! I had about 30 apples on my tree and the squirrels have had the lot!
Make some cider you can drink it or you can turn some to cider vinegar or distilled it and make brandy only for medical purposes lol
Of course ;)
Did you ever consider doing this abroad?
Not the smallholding side of it things, no. :)
Do you make cider?.
Sometimes :)
Wouldn't it be better to own a jersey milk cow rather than a horse ?
Hey, yes, we’ve covered this before. There’s a reason we have horses and wouldn’t live here if we didn’t. Long term, there’s a jersey in the plans but not whilst the horses are here.
Put your wood upright not flat
been better turned into cider.
