Dude who likes shooting, comic books, stocks, motorcycles, Space-X, and probably too many other things to list here.
The 2nd Amendment is about freedom to me. Videos from my journey back into shooting and hopefully some competitions soon being worked on now. Building up my range this year! Look for videos soon from my Freedom Farm!!
Over the last few years, my main focus is on learning competitive shooting and sharing my journey here. I also got into reloading and try to show my errors and triumphs as I learn the science of precision. It is very cool to compete in a long range PRS match with my own product and know that what I made is better than any factory boxed option!
I am also on Rumble and Playeur. I was advised to remove the links to play in RUclips's sandbox here.
Will try to use this to post things about all that interest me. Thank you for stopping by. First video attempt published 8-12-19. Let's see when the next one comes out.

PRS KYL Challenge - Details And Questions!
I went out on Sunday and ran through this a few times with a friend.
We noticed some things and I wanted to go over them since I lost the light again and could not shoot this myself the day I filmed this.
I want to get input from everyone who is interested. I intend to think on the suggestions and find a good, fun, and fair way to run this challenge.
I want to make it hard enough that it's not easy for anyone, but I can promise if you come out to do this there is more to do at my place. I will also let you run it a few times if you want.
The main thing I am noticing is the time limit will be a little tricky to settle on. 2 minutes is really moving! 3 minutes might be a little too easy. So ...

Is This PRS Stage Plus KYL Rack Challenge Too Hard?
Просмотров 567День назад
I think this may be too hard of a challenge! Here is my idea for a twist on Erik Cortina's Blackjack Challenge. His is all done from prone. Mine will incorporate a PRS type stage into the run. Start standing, first position prone and go for the 12 inch, then get up to the first level on the PRS Skills stage prop and shoot till hit the 10 inch. Then up to next position and go for the 8 inch. The...
Custom MGM Targets KYL Rack - This Will Be A Challenge!!
Просмотров 10014 дней назад
I got a new addition to the Freedom Farm! A custom made MGM Targets KYL rack. I have been wanting to try Erik Cortina's Blackjack challenge since he started it. I don't like to take off work, so I don't know when I will get to go to his place to try for score. I still want to give it a try and have been looking at several KYL kits online for the last several months. I reached out to a few with ...
PRS In The Rain! I Had Two Perfect Stages!!
Просмотров 5721 день назад
We had our 3rd PRS match for this season last Sunday. It ended up raining most of the match, but even with that I had 2 perfect stages!! I am finally getting some of the things down to do some good stages. Still struggle to put together a full match without errors, lol. I had 2 stages that were less than great. One was not terrible, but I just lost some time with a silly error. Forgot to put my...
How To Freak Out The Neighborhood!? PRS Front Porch Practice!!
Просмотров 255Месяц назад
This is how I can totally freak out the neighborhood!! I am going to try some front porch PRS practice this video! I actually got more rain over the week. Ended up with about 7.5 inches of rain in 8 days!!! There is still a huge water hole in the dirt road on the way to my range. I'm sure my range is still very soft and sticky. Not worth tracking ruts through my land just to practice a few thin...
It Finally Rained!! Time To Build Something!
Просмотров 118Месяц назад
We finally got some rain here in Oklahoma! Enough to keep me out of my range over the weekend. So, time to build something! At my house, in just 2 days I got about 5.3 inches of rain!!! Massive rain for us. We have not had a good rain since early June if I recall correctly. Very dry summer. So, we needed this! But it did keep me from getting down the dirt road to go to my range. I wanted to wor...
Best PRS Finish Yet!! 2nd Place - 3 Points Behind 1st!!
Просмотров 98Месяц назад
Well, I am getting closer! I finished tied for 2nd place at last weekend's PRS match! I am very happy with this. I was 3 points behind First, 4 more hits and I could have won this match!! I am fired up and excited. As you learn in the video, I had my worse performance on the tires stage! Of course, I am upset with myself for that. I put in some practice on this type of stage after building my o...
PRS Tire Stage - From Struggle To Smooth
Просмотров 94Месяц назад
The PRS Tires Stage! I may have gone from struggle sessions to smooth sailing start to finish! I have struggled with this one a lot. With some practice, I am now moving through it fairly smooth! I will get the hang of the PRS tire stage!! I still have a lot to work on, but I can now at least get set up and stable in a quick way that lets me get on target much, much faster than I was before. My ...
Building A PRS Tractor Tire Stage! - Heavy Lifting!!

So, this last weekend I did some heavy lifting! I made the time to finally build my own PRS tractor tire stage to practice with!! I wore myself out, lol. Those things were heavy, but I lifted them all on my own and rolled them around to get into position. I think after the extra work I did clearing some tree branches, my little set up on my Freedom Farm will work out pretty well! First, I found...

So, I am a total mess!! Let's try some Inline Fabrication Wall Panels to work on that! I don't clean things up at all. Not worth my time. Stuff is just going to get dirty again, why bother cleaning? Investigating My Bad Match Causes - My Gear Or Me?
Do you just go with the length or also the weight...
So, when I was doing this, I was just going by the length. As I investigated further while I did more matches, I realized the speeds were all over the place. Checking weight would probably have been better to catch the powder variations. I since moved to loading my own. Dropped ES from the 40s-60s to 15-20 max, lol. My usual SD is 6-8 now that I load my own. That really tightened things up. Now I am much more confident that my misses are either me not being stable, or usually, a bad wind call! Still learning to feel and adjust for the wind on the clock in a stage! Thanks for asking! Happy to help any way I can!! Have a great week!!
@@ChadKelly7 Sounds great! I used until now just factory ammo and reached with my tikka around 0.6 MOA in average. Now the good ammo get rare and I checked how can I reach good accuracy with factory ammo... Thats why I came to your video and I will try if the length sorting works for me. Probably length and weight method would work the best way. Lets try!
@maxmac1545 I would try both. 5 to 10 shot groups, if you have that much. See if any show an improvement. But really, going to hand loading is the key to making the best ammo for your rifle. Factory stuff is meant to work in a brand range, hand load is tuned for your specific gun. I have found it is greatly improved!! Most of my videos about reloading are learning to get my groups tiny. Average .3s! .6 is a bad group now!!!
Love my MKII. Greetings from Germany
@707Sportschuetze Great to meet you!! Greetings from the middle of the United States! One of the absolute best things about posting videos, I get to meet people all around the world. The AMP is so great. Very happy I got this. And the AmpMate, so I can let my brass anneal and free me up to do other things!! Great piece of equipment. Hope to see you more in the future! Have a great week!!!
Good stuff Chad!❤❤❤
@chrislang5659 thank you, Chris. Catching up on comments as I drop powder and load ammo to test. Getting ready for my match this coming Sunday!! Have a great week!!
Nail gun
@@Vortex_The_Yeep 🤣 It does look like one. Never noticed that!!
Hiya Chad. That’s an interesting scenario. I’m sure you’ll get some participation. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
@viejo2a Yeah, I have heard from some of the guys who did Erik's Blackjack challenge already. Gonna try to score some swag and have a few prizes by the time this happens!! Getting some powder dropping now and catching up on comments. Busy weekend, but got a lot done. Readying to go test and verify my ammo. Make sure I will be good for my match Sunday!! Thanks for stopping by, sir! Have a great week!!
Oh. The uhm.. drop extension for plate to swing from rack; paint it a different color and either d/q those impacts or reduced scoring? In continuance of prior commentary, two shots per plate. Advance regardless of impact/miss. Lowest time and highest score wins. With a clean having bonus applied. Like a reduction from total time. Incentive to not "rush".
@JamesJohnson-if8rz So run it like a straight PRS stage. 2 shots per plate, hit or miss, move after the 2nd. Big to small target order. Shooter can start right and move left, or left and move right. Those are some good ideas. I will need to try it a few times with 12 in a mag or use the extras on the chassis. Get an idea how much time it would take to dwell for 2 shots each. Those smaller plates can take some time to decide to pull the trigger 🤣 I like that paint idea! Black it out, full points only for hitting the white. Excellent. I knew putting this out would get some more ideas. I had not even considered that yet!! The only thing I will have to consider will be the time for this type idea. Those last 2 plates get to swinging pretty good, so waiting for a chance to take the 2nd shot will be a few seconds. Good to catch your breath tho. I will give it a few tries and see how it works! Thanks for checking in. I like the ideas here! Have a great weekend!!
@@ChadKelly7 guess you could have a mandatory reload after the third plate. ;-) when I shot single stack in USPSA... LOVED hearing all those high cap open sissies cry about a mandatory reload. Even more when they would put a carpet chunk on the ground at reload location! Hah. Running a new mag every engagement, no difference to me. *Drops mag and steps on it* woops.
@JamesJohnson-if8rz Been having a busy weekend. Playing catch up on comments while powder is measuring out 🤣 Yeah, a reload would add to the challenge. Want to make this so someone with no PRS experience can also enjoy it. I am starting to message some companies, trying to score some swag. if this first one goes well, I may do it a few times a year. Slight changes each time to keep it interesting, and add to the difficulty each time. I have not seen a carpet piece for mag drop cushion yet. I could totally believe it tho. Seems some people don't wanna drop their mags too hard. Around here, they get full of dirt just from the wind, so not much dirtier when they drop on the ground🤣 Will add all the ideas into the possibilities, and get a good plan worked out for the official run. Can always do more runs to challenge yourself!
@@ChadKelly7 when I was frequenting the pistol bays at Rio Salado shooting club in Arizona. East side of the Phoenix valley. Great range. But yeah, truthfully those guys would put old rugs at the reloading block/box. Those $150 magazines that were hand tuned specifically for that race gun... I honestly know why they were getting upset. Because that mirror shined expensive tube is expensive. Offer multiple classes or brackets. Like the iron sights kyl challenge vs regular kyl that Cortina hosts.
@JamesJohnson-if8rz Yeah, race tuned pistols are wild. Matching mags to work perfectly, it is understandable. Glad I started on the Glock platform 🤣 Just drop them and keep running!! I was thinking that also. Depending how many I can get, have a few classes to reflect the skill/experience levels. That may well be the way to go. Good ideas, man!!
How about twelve shots. Six plates, six positions? Shooter preference in direction on position. L-R or R-L. Hit or miss, keep going. Big to small.
🙏👍🏼🙏
@@cw2a you are gonna have to come down for a try!! It will be fun!
Nice haul, Chad! 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
@viejo2a Yeah, I liked these. Not happy if they are being discontinued!! Now I have 7 though, so can load up most of a match before the match starts!! Save even more time between stages. Awesome!!
Here are some more details and thoughts I have had over the last week. Did some test runs. Realize a 2 minute time limit will be difficult! I want to make this challenging, but also fun for everyone who tries. So, I need some input from everyone here. Keep the time, or stretch it a bit to allow for more people to complete the run. It can be done, but the last rounds will be very tricky!! Which is the point of this, lol. Also, I was thinking of allowing you to go back a target if you have time and rounds remaining after hitting the 2. Rack up the points on a lower scoring plate, or wait for the 2 to stop swinging and try to hit it again for max points. Try to make you think on the clock as well!! Please let me know what you are thinking. I will be finalizing the plans over these cold months and getting ready to have some visitors to my Freedom Farm!! Thank you so much for watching and have a great rest of your day. Contact email: mxer11@yahoo.com
Hey my fellow Okie! I just found this one. Fun video.
@Charles_ONeal Hey, Charles! Gonna have to have you down in the spring for this challenge!! About to release another video with some more info. Would be great to have you come give it a try if you want!! Thanks for catching up. Have a good evening, Charles!!
So were you resizing?
@Dynomitedog2 Hey, Abe! Here I was depriming. I pretty much only use the APP to remove primers before starting the next steps. I like to start with them removed. I will be trying the swage kit for this when I get back to doing some 5.56/.223 work. Pretty focused on my 6 Creedmoor work for PRS!! But, the extra capacity with this has been great. Just used it Monday night to deprime about 150 6CM cases to get ready to anneal. Thanks for checking one of my videos. I hope to see you around more. Have a great rest of your week, and an awesome weekend, sir!!
I found that a red spray nozzle extension tube dropped into the shuttle spring takes care of the spring issue but will still allow it to bend if needed
@jimwhite9483 Yes, Jim! That is the fix I finally learned. Works amazing! Never had another bendy spring after doing that trick! Works smooth and fast since. Much appreciated! This is a great tip. Thanks for checking one of my videos. I hope you had a good weekend, and have yourself a great week!!!
Wow Chad, fine shooting for those conditions! Very cool plate rack!
@chrislang5659 Thank you. Not my best performance. Was moving slow thinking I was recording what I saw. But it was all black. Too dark!! And my hands were cold. I left in some of my whining about how much hands were hurting. Cold hands in the winter is one of my weaknesses, 🤣 Always fighting to keep the hands warm!! But, only missing at the 4 inch when I could barely see it, I will be okay with that. Proves the concept. Going to test again when I get a chance. Busy weekend ahead of me. But going to try and get another run on it. Good practice for my matches!! So, you need to come up this way on a Sunday and give it a try!! I was thinking of figuring out a good distance to use 22LR on it. Maybe 200 to 250 yards. I think I could make something and move the wall prop closer for a 22 day. Wait till it warms up again tho!! The cold wind here is brutal this time of year. Or I am just too sensitive to it😂🤣 Thanks for stopping by, Chris. Have a great weekend, man!!
@ChadKelly7 recently got a little 4" gong to shoot at 200. We'll see how that goes. Rainy and cold this weekend. Gets to muddy to get to the range. Hopefully next weekend will be better!
@chrislang5659 That will be a good challenge for sure! Good luck with it and have fun. Hope we don't get rain. Got too much in November, I need some dry weekends now to catch back up. But I have a long rest of today ahead of me. Hope to be home by 2 this morning, lol. Gotta get on the road now to Oklahoma City!!
@ChadKelly7 be safe 🫡
That’s badass
@SkipsGunz It will be a considerable challenge. Going to have to think about the time limit. 2 minutes may be too short, gonna do some more test runs and figure out a reasonable time. But getting to those last 2 targets after moving around really makes them look tiny thru the scope 🤣 You are welcome to come out someday. If your travels ever take you this way, would live to have you check out my spot!! Thanks much, man. I am having fun with this for sure!! Have a great weekend, sir!!!
Good stuff.... Those shooters global timers need stronger magnets lol
@range.therapist Haha, yeah. I had it on a low pocket and it jumped off. I did hit it with my rifle or bag and those are really heavy. Rifle is 20 pounds and bag is like 11ish. It stays on my belt well, but I didn't want to lay on it🤣 I will find a better location for future attempts. Preferably another person to hold the timer. It picked up way more shots from the vibrations thru the steel structure. I hear the new version 2 has better magnets. Not worth the upgrade for just the magnets 🤣 If you ever make it to Oklahoma and wanna try so some far away, tiny targets let me know! This will be a hard challenge I think. I maybe made it too hard🤣 But, it will make me try harder and get better! Thanks for swinging by, man! Have a great weekend! Good luck if you have a match this weekend!!
Given the low light and icy wind, I think you did amazingly well! You'd kill it at the Cortina Blackjack challenge since it's all prone. Maybe by next spring I will have some free time to make a road trip, so I'd love to give that a try with my 308 Stealth. Heck, I might go bonkers and ride down there on my Harley with my rifle slung across my back. LOL! I knew a guy that did that somewhat frequently, but that was 30 years ago, so I bet that nowadays I'd get pulled over by the cops like every 20 miles. Hahahaha!
@DocJustinT Haha, yeah that road trip idea could get some looks these days. But mostly free states on the way, so just will depend on individual highway patrol officers and if you pass any in their feelings🤣 Yeah, the cold and dark slowed me down. I couldn't see where I was at on the 4 inch where I started missing. Reticle too bright, then I couldn't see the target well. I think I may have been just under or to the left. Wind would pick up and die down. My hands were burning in pain at that point tho. Next time in the daylight!! My friend who does matches with me wants to try, so will give it another go soon. Next match in a few weeks, so gotta start loading soon as well. Busy month ahead of me!! I think the all prone Cortina challenge could be done. I want to make the trip, but they usually go out and film on Fridays. I would have to miss Friday and Saturday at work. That hurts me to think about 😂 I will have to plan a time though and go try it. Make a weekend trip and visit my sister in Austin. Well, when the weather improves, come on down! Bring some other stuff and we can have a range day with my other targets and things I have built on this land. Always making it cooler. Not many people have a personal range like what I put together! Need to share it more with some good people!! Look forward to you coming and giving it a try!! Hope you had a good week. Thanks for watching and I hope you have a great weekend, Justin!!
awesome...... and just think that would be almost near impossible all in 2 minutes too...... would be fun to try anyways....
@michaeldunn150 Yeah, I was dragging this test run. Hands were burning and I thought I was filming thru scope. Didn't know it would be all black screen with a crosshair 🤣 I might have to adjust the time and give an extra minute! Just to be fair and fun. Either way, those last 2 are going to be tricky!! Come on down to Oklahoma and give it a try, Michael!! Will be a fun day! Have a great weekend, buddy. See you on the next one!
Not really. During the initial cqb m4 quals a large portion of people failed. It just takes some forethought and practice. Concise and exact movements. Every unnecessary action consumes time and energy. Move a little slower and more deliberate. If you watch the difference between the top echelon and middle of pack. I think that is 80% of it. Gear probably makes about 12%. All the rest is chance. Luck. Fate. Whatever you call it.
@JamesJohnson-if8rz Yeah, I am gonna have to do some test runs and think of a reasonable time limit. I told Erik Cortina about it and even he said 2 minutes would be hard for seasoned PRS shooters. I may add a minute to make it more possible. Maybe make it 2 mins for people familiar with PRS, 3 mins for first timers. I will adjust and modify the rules some I'm sure as I get some other people to try it out. Either way, knowing you have a time limit is a mental thing that makes you forget the fundamentals 🤣 And those last two get really tiny when you start breathing hard!! Slow and smooth really shines when you get to the end of a stage.
@@ChadKelly7well, I was a bit... Honestly - the blackjack challenge was more fun when they had to reset. Now that it is a sit at the hardest plate and repeat... If you are firing from a known distance, with everything set.. two minutes seems fair. Especially if you can get all the way to the end. It is a challenge, right? I thought those were meant to be nigh impossible for a specific reason. Seems like a long enough room, a barricade and some of those simulated distance targets stuck on far wall would allow some dry fire in home? Practice doesn't seem expense. Dry fire wise. Few 2x4's and a couple paper targets.
@JamesJohnson-if8rz That was some of my thought here. Make it extra difficult. Really will come down to wind and being able to adjust on the clock. Will know better after a few runs and having another person give it a try. Speed thru the first 3 or 4, then slow down and take good shots at the last few. That will be the key. If you can move positions and reestablish on the bag, you can do it well. Yeah, so I made a few little props to test out. Mainly for this time of year when it's miserable to load up everything and go be stuck outdoors for a few hours. Can go to a spare room or the back yard. Put a target on the back fence and run some practice. This is a great sport for dry fire practice. Most of the difference between high level shooters and beginners will come to positional shooting. Learn that well, and know the wind, you can do well. Getting quickly set up and stable, with target in the reticle can give you more seconds to break good shots. Definitely do some dry fire off some homemade props and learn your bag well. That will speed you up doing PRS very quickly!! I posted a few weeks ago showing the props I made. One with 4x4 and another with 2x4. That 2x4 is wobbly and skinny. Learn that well and props in a match will be super easy!!
Howdy neighbor. Looks like fun
@dalepogue5799 Good evening, Dale! I got it set up and I think planned out. It will be a tricky challenge!! You gonna get down here and give it a try? Maybe wait for warmer days, lol. I was so cold doing this after sundown. Got my PRS buddy wanting to try. So maybe a head to head at a better time of day video will be soon showing the concept as well. But, I would like to have some other people come out and give it a try! Let me know if you want to. Have a great weekend and thanks for watching, Dale. See you on the next one!!
So, what do you think? Can you do this challenge? If you want to give it a try, reach out and we'll see about setting something up. I would really wait until Spring, lol. It will be cold here the next few months. But, I am game if you are!! I want to have some other people give this a try. So, invitation to my Freedom Farm to do this challenge, and have a bit of a range day down on my other areas I built here. This will be hard!! Thanks for taking a look. If you want to help support my efforts and put a little towards paying for this beast of a target. Get some coffee here and use my code: CK2A coffeebrandcoffee.com/?ref=dC8omF4z6GXzwI
Need to link up with you. Currently, sitting on: stock, action, trigger, barrel(s x3), brass. Lathe classes start spring '25 semester. Debating whether to get die blanks and reamers, or just cheap for Redding s dies. Any ideas how to securely transfer contact information? You are around Lawton? I haven't been down there in a few years. Was thinking going back for a visit could be nice.
@JamesJohnson-if8rz Well, depending on your caliber choice, I would just go factory dies. My Redding S die has done well. But, if you are getting the chamber custom made, then get a die cut to match. I looked at custom dies, but decided against it for now. Seems off the shelf items would be more than adequate for my skill level now. If I miss, it's not because my die wasn't perfectly matched to my chamber. It's usually my own fault🤣 If you want, shoot me an email mxer11 @ yahoo.com And yes, just west of Lawton. My work weeks are Tuesdays thru Saturdays. Weekends are Sundays and Mondays. I usually go to my place every weekend. Get errands done then go out till sundown, and a while after usually😂 Welcome to come give it a try. Can work on some PRS skills as well. I have some good practice areas made and some props to work the positional stuff. Or, come do one of our monthly matches! Usually 3rd Sunday each month. Thanks for coming by again! Good to have you follow along. And I'm happy to help as I'm able!! Have a great weekend!!!
Hi. I believe we chatted a bit on a different video of yours. Regarding that mec marksman in background. Are you priming on the lee app press, or just depriming? If memory serves you are shooting rifles at prs/nrl?
@JamesJohnson-if8rz Hey, good to see you again. So, my process regarding primers: Deprime with the APP. Anneal, size and mandrel on MEC Clean Prime with my Primal Rights CPS Powder Seat bullet on MEC The CPS is really a great tool. I can zip thru a batch in a few minutes. Once you get a flow and the order of movements down, it is very fast. But most importantly, it is very repeatable. I know my primers are always at the same depth. Any variation will be primer assembly QC, not my seating process. That eases my mind when I ever have to diagnose an issue. Which I have not really had other than mixing a few lot numbers once, which I won't do again!! I can be very confident with my reloading process now. Still learning more of course. Next I am gonna get the Area419 S series die when it releases, probably this week or next. And compare to my separate sizing die and mandrel die process. Combining both into 1 step is huge for me and my focus on saving time doing this. While also getting good results. Wanting those two things, time saving and quality results, I have learned is expensive in this game 😂 Thanks for checking a other video! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving and let me know if you have any other questions. Happy to help as I'm able!! Have a great start to December!!
@ChadKelly7 I was wondering how accurate the priming would be on the Lee. My current plan is very similar. I thought about the Holland rcbs bench primer. Or the pcps with the LnL bushing kit on mec. Just crunching pennies. Thanks!
@JamesJohnson-if8rz I have not primed with the Lee. I would just test like 10 to 15, measure them all and if no variation in the depth of the primer, you should be good to go! I try to focus on consistency more than "book perfect". When I find something that performs well, I tend to stop testing unless I just want to see what else can happen. If doing this on a budget, Lee does seem to really perform well for the cost. Plus it's fast. I would test what you have now before getting a new tool just to get something fancier. I like the Holland brass monkey. Dang it's pricey!!! That is on my list for when I go into the neck turning rabbit hole. I feel you in their prices 🤣 Good luck on it! I bet with the Lee you will see .001 variance. And if the SD/ES of that group is good, I would keep doing that!! My PRS rifle is pretty consistent at single digital SDs. Bad for my process is 12 for an SD. 3 to 8 range has been recent average. Plenty happy with that for banging steel at distance. Most of my misses are bad position or bad wind call. Always me, not my ammo😂
@ChadKelly7 I saw fclass john has a video showing how to potentially lathe inserts for that Lee primer on app. He said it will in theory allow adjusting primer depth. For the money and speed... The Lee app and mec with LnL conversion.. Giraud bench trimmer and annealer. Still debating the FART kit for $300ish. What matches do you normally shoot for PRS? I am around KC. The gap grind is nearby. Just starting lathe classes at the local CC. Hopefully I have my barrels spun onto this CDG soon. Spent the dollars on a Samson stock. My experience with the rock chucker is ... Well... And the lack of room on a coax ..... Maybe if I get some die blanks, reamers and make some matched dies to chambers... *Shrug*
@JamesJohnson-if8rz You are off to a great start! The trimming step is the worse. Good job investing in a quality tool for that!! I just clean with dry tumbler and rice. I have a FART, never used it once yet🤣 Not a fan of waiting to dry. Someday I may get it set up and a drying rack, but the rice is giving results I like. Impressive to get into classes and hands in learning to know the machines. That will take you far, whether firearm industry or any other in the fabrication world. Good choice of skill to get!! I am in southwest Oklahoma and we have a local group that does Sunday matches once a month. I think called Southwest Precision Shooters or something like that. There is a Facebook group, but I never get on there🤣 I like that we have Sunday matches. My work week is Tuesdays thru Saturdays, so not having to take a day off work to do a match is great for me. Plus they are all within 40 mins of my house!! If you ever want to give one a try, let me know! Happy to get new people here to whip my butt and keep me from getting too close to the top finishers😂🤣 It is good to learn the process and get some confidence. But I need to get out to some bigger matches this year, I think. Up the challenge and force myself to climb up to the next level. GAP grind would be awesome to try, but I figure out of my league right now. But, I also like getting myself thoroughly embarrassed then working to improve on all the mistakes I made, come back to try again and prove myself with improved scores. You may see me in your area someday! Keep up the work and path you are on now. You should do well in both profession and learning the PRS game! Both take work and focus on learning skills. Have a great week!! Time for me to start my work Monday🤣
Hey, Chad. That’s a sweet rack o’ steel! Nice! 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
@@viejo2a Thank you, Walter!! It turned out really nice. Now we gotta get you out to Oklahoma and give my version of the Cortina challenge a try!! I am gonna add some difficulty and see if I can step up the challenge level. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving Day. And have yourself an awesome weekend!!
That is exactly the problem I have had from my new APP press.
OH! Man! I love it Chad...... would be awesome to shoot at it once..... but don't know about at 500 yds...lol. I think the longest shot I took was about 150 yds...... I just bought a KYL rack with 3 plates from shootingtargets7 that I gonna to put up after I get the range done...... hopefully next spring now....
@@michaeldunn150 Heck yeah. Get your own put up and practice. Then come try mine!! It is a challenge. I got the 4 inch my first try showing it to my dad yesterday after our lunch together. Come on down and give it a try!! It will be fun if nothing else!! Have a great weekend, Michael!!
What's the width? Of the whole thing.
@@baen1466 at work now. Will get some numbers when I get home. Inches or Millimeters?
@ChadKelly7 we'll take inches. Thanks brother!
@baen1466 ok, made it home finally. The widest point is 1.172 That is the front area around the glass. The rear is about 1.015 Hope that gets you what you need! Have a great weekend!
@@ChadKelly7 huge thanks!
All looks good mate and the challenge sounds like a great idea, looking forward to seeing how it goes, cheers Yogi ✌️✌️
@rosalindstewart7013 Thank you!! I think I will give my idea a try this weekend if I can get out there early enough. Not a thing to do in the dark🤣 That 2 inch is hard to see in the day. No way I can make it in the dark. Might try sometime tho!! Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. Good to see ya again! Have a great weekend!!
Happy Thanksgiving, Chad. Nice set up, I like it. My typical "long" shot is 350 yards, prairie dog'n. We have made longer shots with the winds normally 10 mph + it gets a little more challenging in South Dakota with a 204 Ruger.
@dougthomas9460 Thank you, Doug. And Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!! I hope it was a great day for you and your family. I got this right at 500. I got it positioned a bit better today in the light. Had the angle a bit off. Funny how that happens when it's so dark you can't see anything 🤣 350 on a prairie dog size with 10 plus winds is a challenge. The 204 Ruger is a speedy little round though!! Should help some with bucking the wind. I will keep working with this and see if I can get it figured out. That 2 inch looks really small. I did hit the 4 today on my first try showing my dad how it works. Quite pleased with that!! Hope you have a good evening and a great weekend up there in the cold!! See you in the next one!!!!
Looks good Chad
@dalepogue5799 Thanks Dale. Gonna have to get you down for my new and improved Blackjack challenge!! Adding some moving to the game started by Erik Cortina. Gonna try it his way first, then see if I can make the run with my idea!! Hope Thanksgiving has been great. Have a good evening and a great weekend!!
Nice target rack! Shooting in the dark outside seems cool. The closest thing to that in my experience is shooting on an indoor range with all the lights out except the ones on the targets. I don't really work in the dark, but my labs don't have windows and at this time of year I get to work when it's dark and it's dark again by the time I leave for home. I wish I could update you on my 22 ARC build, but I got a call about 3 weeks ago from the guy that's chambering my barrel and he ordered the wrong length barrel blank so he had to re-order it. Ugh! Now I'm on his rush list since it's already overdue, and he said that it will be mid-December by the time he can get it to me. Gobble gobble! 😁
@DocJustinT Hey, Justin!! Good to see ya, man. Was wondering what happened to you. I figure you have been busy. This time of year, I have to get creative. I do more in the evenings than mornings. So, flashlights on targets and using the lighted reticle to know where the center is at least gets the job done. It is fun, but not the most accurate. Plus, it gets real cold when the sun leaves!! At least worth a try to see how it is. I will do a lot more the next weeks until time fixes itself 🤣 Bummer on your new build! Always something going wrong these days with products. Too many people make simple errors. No pride in doing a good job all the time. I miss the days everyone did their best because it was the right thing to do. Hopefully they get it corrected and pushed to your builder soon and he gets that finished and in your hands in the next few weeks!! Then get it broken in and dialed in. Will be a great cartridge for you!! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving Day, Justin. Very happy to see you stop by! I hope you have a good evening and an awesome weekend!! Go try some nighttime flashlight shooting 🤣 See you on the next one!!
@ChadKelly7 yeah, sorry for not stopping by lately, work has been killing me... and we just keep getting more and more work and more people, yet we're all slammed. I've been at this site for 6 years and in that time we went from 4,500 employees up to almost 8,500 at the moment, and everyone is constantly struggling to keep up. I'm one of the more senior staff members since I have 6 extra years at one of our sister sites, so I'm doing my work plus training some of the new hires. I hear ya about the general state of manufacturing anymore, but I think my barrel guy just made an honest mistake... the finished length of the barrel will be 26 inches, and that's the length of the blank he ordered... he probably just had a brain fart and forgot that he needs a couple extra inches to chuck up on in his lathe. Sadly, no night long range for me at the 1,000 yard range down the hill from me since it's a public range (dang rules say only daylight shooting is allowed). Although, a buddy at work has an uncle that lives within an hour away who has a farm and he said we can shoot there anytime, so that might be an option. It's wide open and based on Google Maps it looks like we could easily stretch out to 1,200 yards with plenty of room to spare.
@DocJustinT Yeah, I feel that. Was solo at work last week and first 2 days this week. Help supposed to be back tomo. We shall see. Constant 9am to 9pm days for me then home to do my personal stuff each night. Still tired from it. Hope to start catching up tomorrow!! Good luck getting folks trained up. I never have people work for me that can keep up. I leave them all way behind and I hate slowing down. Heck yeah, give it a try at the friend's place. I am very lucky that I can do pretty much anything I want on my own land. I am aware I am blessed to be doing this the way I do!
Love this target!!! ❤❤ Dropped a video of my own shooting week or so back.
@cw2a thank you, CW. I had to get them to extend and add a plate. My OCD wouldn't let me have 1 plate less than Erik Cortina's version. 🤣 It turned out great. I tried the 4 today when I took my dad down to show him. Got it on my first try! From kneeling and rifle on a bag. Not even prone. The 2 will be trickier though. I can do it I think. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving Day, sir. Have a good evening and a great weekend!! I will try and catch up and find yours as well!
Happy Thanksgiving!! Hope you had a great day! Got a chance to make the location for this KYL rack at my place. I actually went back this afternoon in the daylight and did a little more dirt moving to get the angle just right to face my firing position. I should be hitting it head on now! Those last two 4 and 2 inch targets are quite tricky to even see at 500 yards! I did take 1 shot today at the 4, and actually hit it my first try! So, this will be the new challenge for my range. Someday, we may have some of you all come out and try it yourself. Have a Freedom Farm version of the Blackjack challenge!! Come on up Erik Cortina!! lol. Best review of this tripod on RUclips. Thanks
@k9killa820 Thank you! I really appreciate that. If I do a review like this, I just try ti show things missed in other videos or all the features I find most useful. Glad you liked it. Has been solid since the start. If you are considering one, go for it! I have been very happy with my choice here! Have yourself a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!
I liked all the features but nobody showed sitting and prone features like u did which basically sold me because I was looking for a tripod that I can use both day and night hunting And after your video the fatboy elevate checks all the boxes
Are you a dealer now or do they offer any military or LE discount that you know of?
@k9killa820 Heck yeah! I don't mind getting down on the ground if it's needed. I grew up on a farm 🤣 Glad my demonstration could help show those features.
@k9killa820 So, I don't sell these. I work in the motorcycle industry. I got mine from Paramount Tactical. I am pretty sure they are doing Black Friday, but not sure what on. They are vets, so may have some deals for military/LE. Reach out to them by email. Gary is great there and helped me get settled on which version would be best for my uses.
Brilliant
@@gaerinraj2336 🤣 Had to share some of my quirks. Keeps the end of down count down quick and easy!! Have a great Thanksgiving!!
8:14 what a shot Chad! And the velocity must be insane on that cartridge or something....seemed like you didn't have to lob it in the target by aiming higher it was dead nuts. That's one sweet setup!
@jknewb6276 Thank you man! 6 Creedmoor screams. Mine are pushing the 108 grainers at about 2985ish. I am getting the hang of this a bit finally. Next I will be showing off a new target I put together on my range. Really cool stuff coming I hope with it! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving with your family, man!!
Hello Chad. Love the Channel!! Where did you get that Alpha munitions data sheet for the 6.5CM brass? I can't seem to find it for download on their website.
@johncaelles9143 Hey, thank you! So, that little data card I showed is something I printed from an email they sent. Got my 1st box from Midway, then got the 2nd direct. When they sent order info, they also sent this data card. They did give me the Amp setting before I ordered direct. Just email them with your lot number and I am sure they will send you the specs!! They have been great to talk to when I was starting to switch over. Impressed me enough I have no intentions of trying anything else!! Very happy with results and the company. Can't ask for more! Let me know if they don't send you the data, I will email the guy I was talking to and ask for you! Thanks for checking my stuff. Hope to see you around more in the future as well! Have a great Thanksgiving week, John!
@@ChadKelly7 Thanks for the reply Chad! I'm in Canada, I bought my Alpha brass from one of their distributors up here in the Great White North. I'll try emailing Alpha myself with the lot numbers of 6.5CM SRP & .308win SRP brass I bought for upcoming projects. I'm sure they will respond to the email. Cheers John
@johncaelles9143 Yeah, that is the same as me. Midway didn't send this info either. I am positive they will get your sorted with the data!! Even tho not a Canada event, have a great Thanksgiving time!!
Very cool Chad!
@@3jeepdiscovery Thanks, man!! It will be very nice once set up. That little 2 incher is intimidating while holding it. At 500 yards, it's crazy!! We shall see. Finishing the project this afternoon.
awesome!!!
@@michaeldunn150 Thanks, Michael. It will be very nice when done. I think mine will be better than Erik Cortina's 🤣 Gonna have to invite him up to the Freedom Farm Blackjack Challenge instead of me going to his!!
@@ChadKelly7 that would be frickin sweet if you could get erik to come.....good luck! I will try to help out..... flood his page with messages..lol
@michaeldunn150 Yeah, maybe someday. I am thinking of my own spin on his deal. Shoot from prone or bonus points of you use the PRS skills stage barricade I built. Or another idea is have mats on each side of the prop and do it like a PRS stage, start prone then up to 4 positions on the prop and finish prone for the last 2 inch target. Add in some heart rate elevation to up the difficulty factor! That will probably be the way to go. Just some of my ideas so far. May have to have a viewer challenge also and get some people to try it. Post a few of those videos and get Erik to want to come show us how it's done. Got a few plans for this more than just another target. Should be fun for a while!! That little 2 inch plate is tiny!!! We shall see soon how it goes🤣
Let’s see some hits
@dalepogue5799 coming soon. Skid steer work today and assembling this. Then test it at 500 with a few shots. See how terrible I will be🤣
setup showing case to shell holder insertion ( how to adjust ) helped me get mine running perfectly. Thanks so much!
@frtlsinseattle Awesome! Glad that could help. I try to work in some things in my videos if I notice something tricky that is not well covered in other videos I have seen on the topic. This thing can be tricky to set up, but once you understand how each component works, it is pretty easy. I can now change calibers quickly and go back to my main settings without wasting too much time and frustration. Those first times though!! They drove me crazy 🤣 Happy that something I put out could help you!! I hope you have a great Thanksgiving week!! Let me know if ever have any questions, I will help any way I am able to!
Nice work Chad.
@mikewhite2aadvocacy172 Thank you, Mike!! I am pleased with my good stages. First clean run in 2 stages in a single match. When I was on, I was good. Once again, I make a few errors though. Closer to putting a full match together though!!! Someday I will get it together 🤣 Thanks for stopping by this week. Next up, 500 yard KYL target set up. 12, 10 8, 6, 4, and 2 inch targets!! Gonna be a challenge. Have a great weekend, Mike!!
Hiya, Chad! Congrats on those two clean stages. Great work, my friend! 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
@viejo2a Thank you, Walter!! I am very pleased with those. I think I scored the best of the day on those 2 also. When I was on, I was on!! When I mess up, I am terrible 🤣😂 Gotta put it all together better now. Bummed I didn't record the clean stages on scope cam. Didn't think about the card it came with being small!! I thought I was pushing the buttons in the right order to record. Didn't even consider the card getting full 😂 I know now, getting a big one in there before next match. Have a great weekend sir. See you on a live I hope. Solo at work this week, been there later than usual all week. Hope to make it GSC for a few though! See you on the next one!!
great job chad..... KYL rack gonna be sweet...... put the rack at 500yd so the targets will be at 500 too...
@michaeldunn150 thank you, Michael! Pretty happy overall here. Wish I didn't make the mistakes I did. I think calling them out makes me more aware of them and I will avoid them better in the future when I can. I think where my KYL rack will go, it's going to be angled from the firing position. I may need to find a different spot. But, it it like 3 yards wide maybe. Pretty big! I unpacked it. Mine is fancier than Erik's 😂 May just center it or have the smallest at 500. I doubt 1 or 2 yards will make much difference at 500. May have to move it around a few times before I get it settled. Gonna try to build backstop this weekend and test the idea out. In my head this will be cool. May have my own Oklahoma version of Cortina's Blackjack challenge. Lol. Thanks for watching, man. Have a great weekend, dude!!!
Howdy neighbor
@dalepogue5799 good to see ya Dale. Had my first rain match. I fogged my scope up and had a few errors, lol. But had some great stages. Now to make less errors and more good stages. Still learning, but getting better I think. Have a great weekend, man!!
How to order bro
@@romelbaltazar3614 got this direct. They probably have some sales going for this time of year! www.koreessentials.com Have a good rest of your week!
Sorry for the late release! Just home from work. Help on vacation this week and next, so I have been slammed busy all week!! This match went mostly well. My first time to deal with the rain. I learned to not exhale right on my scope, lol. Oops!! But, I had 2 perfect, clean stages and 2 stages I made some errors on. Ended up 4th, but with a few corrections to my mistakes, I will be right up at the top again. Always more to this. Holding it all together for a full match is very tricky. I will get there though. Starting to put in some perfect stages is a big confidence boost! Thanks for watching and I hope you have a great rest of your day and an awesome weekend! See you on the next one!!
I drove right past that tornado. It was after a dance recital and it was so scary!
@elliepilkington1166 Wow!! It was wild enough here in Altus. We got lucky. Must have been crazy to see it that close. Glad you made it home okay!!
Hey I am including this bag in an article I am writing. What are your thoughts after all this time?
@@Blackplagueprecision It is pretty excellent. Stiff where it needs to be. I didn't like how floppy my other one was. I like the molle base of the big pockets. I got a lot of small pouches for a battle belt and have separate pouches for mags, cleaning stuff, camera stuff, markers and tape measure, barrel cooler, etc. Keeps stuff from jostling around too much. Overall, this is the best bag I have tried for a big, heavy rifle.
@ that’s awesome! I really prefer a hard case but if I went soft this would be at the top of my list. By the way you see the two articles you are featured in?
@Blackplagueprecision I like carrying on my shoulder, so soft cases are my preference. If/when I travel for a match, that will change, of course. I have not. Been so hooked up the last few weeks I have fallen behind on a lot. I will get over and check it out. I will make a post and link to it! Thanks for letting me know, and thank you for including me!! That is really cool, man!! I am solo at work this week, last week preparing for a national race and week before fixing inventory, so I have been non stop working for weeks at this point. I will get over there soon! Might be the weekend before I slow down a little and catch up, though 🤣
@@ChadKelly7 no worries at all just wanted to make sure you knew! I love your content! Keep it up!
@Blackplagueprecision Appreciate that man! Got it on my list for when I catch up on things. Work driving me hard this week. Kinda crazy lol.
I'm a beginner reloader, and pick up a lot of pistol brass at our local gun club range. I've run into a lot of crimped 9mm, and had issues with it on my single stage press and priming tool. I ended up picking up a Lee ram swager, and it really works great; just mounts to your ram with a die that screws into the top of the press. There's a good amount of brass that I was begrudgingly going to toss in the recycling bucket than I can now prime and reuse. Highly recommend picking one up. I haven't moved into rifle rounds yet, but I'm hoping it works just as well on 5.56 as it does on pistol brass.
@kennethmiller6626 Yes, I learned quickly that crimped primer pockets were a pain, lol. Found out the hard way trying to prime some cramped cases. Lead me down this rabbit hole and I got some tools that worked. It is awesome when you get a tool that makes a job better, faster and easier! I have not tried that Lee tool, but I did get their swage kit for my APP. This winter, I plan to test it out also and compare all three options I have. Hand reamer, Hornady die, and Lee APP. If the Lee works as well as the Hornady, it will go so much faster on the APP. I use it to deprime only and it is the fastest step in my process now. I am glad you found a tool to work for you and let you keep all that brass! I hate wasting, so I would have been sick to trash all that brass you got!! 😂 Thank you for watching one of my videos. I hope to see you around more in the future. I am fairly new, but getting the hang of this. My PRS rifle loads are performing well. I will find out if they are still doing well after reloading them this week tomorrow morning! Our next match is Sunday morning, so I hope my stuff is still hitting where I want it to🤣 Too much rain the last 2 weeks, I have not got to verify yet. I'll find out when the first stage starts!! Have a great rest of your weekend, Kenneth!!
@@kennethmiller6626 O yeah, and it should work just as well, if not better on the rifle brass. You should be good to go!!
Hi, can switch sides? Am lefty !
@wilmernegron792 Hello! Absolutely. There are a few different mounting adapters. Direct to Picatinny, or an M-Lok adapter. I have it mounted to my scope with a ring behind the turrets. It detaches from the base and allows you to flip it. Right, left, or upside down. I also got their timer, and it mounts the same way. I have that mounted to an Mlok slot on the right side of my rifle, with a switch on the left to activate. Plenty of mounting solutions, definitely can work for left handed shooters!! Thanks for watching. I can post a current pic of my rifle to my community of you want to see? I think I have some saved on my phone.
Awesome stands..... nice and heavy duty.... should be great to trainer.... Great job! Chad. Hope no one called the po po...lol
@michaeldunn150 Hey, Michael! The 4x4 turned out pretty solid. Still tricky to get stable and not fall off the side, but it will make a decent little practice stand to keep at home. Got my KYL rack shipment in, so I will soon have my own Erik Cortina Blackjack challenge set up! 500 yards with a 2 inch target is gonna be tough!!! Match this Sunday, so we shall see how I do with zero practice between matches. Hope I can keep my pace and not drop down too bad. Mainly worried about my wind reading ability. We shall all see in a few days!! Have a great weekend, man! See you soon!
