The new season has started! I'll admit, not off to as good of a start as I was hoping. I spent too much time focused on one thing, and let some others slack. Downside of having very limited time to do anything, lol. But, I more confident in my ammo now and I am pretty sure I figured out the problem with my zero moving around on me. It did again, so I actually checked screws with a torque wrench instead of the wiggle test. My mistake there! Had to re-zero the morning of the match and that put me off my game. Plus, very little sleep the whole week before. It all hit me at once and I had a showing I am not super proud of. Some stages I really should have done better on. I think I actually saw more hits when reviewing this video than I had marked down, but still I ended up 5th overall. Maybe have 2 more than my score reflects. So, more to work on and I'll be diving into those topics soon. I really need to figure out some drills that will build my confidence with my position building. That will be my next major focus. I fix one thing and find 2 more that need to improve. Thanks for watching and joining me on this journey. I hope you have a great rest of your day and an awesome weekend!!
Chad, don't beat yourself up. We all have days like this. You did great on making second shot corrections when off target. Next goal for you, and me, see where your first round hit is on target and correct to center on the second round if needed. You solved your bag issue by removing it and getting a hit! Suggestion, move your bipod closer to you so you can reach up quickly and extend a leg to get the front up higher. You only have to do one side most of the time because the Ckyepod has tons of cant available. I try not to run my bipod out all the way anymore if I think there is going to be any movement or multiple targets. I'd rather give myself the ability to reach up and extend or drop a leg without having to crawl all the way to the front of the gun. That's if I remember!
@mln19631 I'm more disappointed in myself than nearing myself up. I pushed it way too hard the week before and really the night before, such little sleep all week. I am still tired, barely getting a little more sleep. I need to get back to normal. That had me off my game. And, the loose screw was messing with my head all week. I was thinking about that too much. Gonna check zero again and make sure it stayed where it's supposed to be. I was quit pleased with my miss spotting this time. I was able to correct a few. One I over corrected. Missed high then low. But that was punishment, and I was not too upset missing that stage. I did see that I think I had 2 more hits than I wrote down 🤣 Probably won't matter much at the end of the season, but I need to do better remembering. I did not even consider that bipod idea. I assume longer footprint = more stability. Probably would still have plenty and be able to reach if needed. I was so worried about that 1st target on the last stage, I didn't even consider the others were higher up 🤣 I know I can do better, so that is where my disappointment comes from. But, I am pretty confident my ammo is good to go. Shouldn't feel the need to test that much more. I need to set up a better training area with barrels and tires and stuff and just run thru the motions and build positions. I am good when I get stable, just gotta get better at changing positions quickly. Probably my sign that I need to build that thing I was showing you so I can work stuff here in town. Plus, I had a few things that didn't work as well as the match went on. Gotta do a little more position tweaking on the stuff I use. The bipod idea is great. I think I remember I moved it out so I could reach the button to start my timer easier. I installed that the night before as well, so I need to test it before a match apparently. Good tips, dude! You give me many more and you won't get to beat me much longer 😇 I am gonna be on it now after this. Gonna hope this was my poorest performance. But, we'll see how luck plays out. Plus, to me, a lot of the targets were really, really hard to find and/or see. I felt like several blended into the backgrounds way too well. But, I made it thru with the contacts, so that part of things was much better. As always, more to work on for me. I will keep trying until I get it down!!
Whew 4:30 🕟 wake-up time 😮😅! I’ll have to trigger cam video if I choose to move to long range shooting in the future. I’ll be curious of your thoughts. I appreciate your detailed explanations of how you prepare and how & why you make adjustments 🙏🙏 There are a lot of resets and movements (standing up & down, and on your belly… whew) with this match. 16:38 “My ammo is doing better than I am” 😅 . I felt that, great job still Chad! Rest.
@SheFires Yeah, I am terrible at .mornings. if I need to leave at 7, gotta plan to be awake several hours ahead so I can get myself moving around. Once I hit the shower, I am usually in go mode all day. But, getting up and to that shower is always the trick for me🤣😂 Triggercam is great. I actually noticed a few hits I got that were not called, so I think I scored 2 more at least than my final count. Not enough to change anything, but makes me feel better to knownI did a little better. Expensive, but handy. I would put it as a low priority, but cool to have item. I wanted to have something to show what I am seeing as I do these matches, plus record if I get hits and review misses. Kinda awkward, but once you used to it, it is just another part if the rifle. I probably won't remove it now that it's match season. Yeah, that is why I film what I am doing also. Punishment stage sucked. Get a hit and have to stand up and get back down before taking next shot. I was so tired, I missed 4 on purpose because I didn't want to move anymore 🤣 others were just me not doing well. The fun of this, is the rifle is like 20 pounds, so very awkward to move around efficiently. Gotta get my upper body in better shape. I'm too thin 😂🤣😂 Like I was telling you. I review the match and find a few things I did the worse on and plan to work on those skills to get better before next match. Like the stage I was set for 1st target, but the 2nd one I had to remove my bad to drop the stock enough to raise my barrel to the target. Not good planning for the whole stage. But, it is something I can work on and get better at. So, the plan is to stop tinkering my ammo. That did great!! Now it is time to focus on my movements, stable positions, staying on target, finding the targets quickly, and moving positions efficiently. Things I can totally improve on!! My main disappointment, knowing that last year I beat everyone but the first place guy at least once! I have the skill to at least have got 2nd, for sure 3rd should have been obtainable for me. I know I can keep up with them, so now it is time to prove it!! I was off my game a good bit this day, and they were on theirs!! That is how it goes sometimes. Now, to make myself better! Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a great weekend. I will try and stop in if you have a live. Or check a video if you drop one. See you on the next one!!!
@@ChadKelly7 "I was off my game a good bit this day, and they were on theirs!! That is how it goes sometimes." Felt that. Understand. :) Have a great weekend Chad. Match coming up for me so I'll probably have a video dropping instead of a live. Be safe. Catch you very soon!
@SheFires I gotta admit when others just straight up did better than me. But, I know I can beat them. So, next is to prove it and get back where I want to be. I will take the weekend off 😂 I been running so hard for 2 weeks I am exhausted. I won't mind a Sunday to have a little more chill time. Knowing me though, I will use the time to start working these skills I need to improve! Talk to you later!!!
@dalepogue5799 thank you, Dale. I didn't do terrible, but I know I could have done better. I am disappointed in my performance. But, my errors were all self inflicted, so they are things I can fix and do better next time. Rifle did well, ammo did great. Now to shift over and work my own skills. I do need to tweak a few things on the rifle set up, but that is just some fine tuning a few things that didn't work the way I have them set up. My timer was not tested before the match. Need to adjust the location of my button and the timer itself. Easy to fix, just gotta spend the time and try a few locations. Figure out what will work better for me. Got a good tip about my bipod, so I will incorporate that as well. Always more things to work on. Which is why I like this, makes me always push to do better. I think I have something down well, then I realize I have a new skill to get better at doing. Always moving forward!! Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great weekend, Dale. I am gonna try and get those wall panels up and clean my work benches!! Much needed job to finally get done. I will see ya on some streams this weekend, I'm sure.
@Omi-7k Hello! Thanks for checking out one of my videos. The main shooting mat I have been using is the one from Savior Equipment. It is a good range mat. Well padded and long. It folds up and closes with a buckle, allowing it to be carried by the handle. So, great for using at matches or just going to the range. Not the best for a hunt or NRL Hunter type match. I also have a Cole-Tac mat. Mainly have it for a spare in case someone needs one at a match. Smaller, but also lighter and rolls up much smaller than the Savior. So, it would be better if you had to walk a ways to get to the shooting position. Different mats for different uses! I guess I may need to do an actual side by side comparison and show my thinking behind the two I have. May try and get that done in the next few weeks! I have a match this coming weekend, so that is my focus right now, but I can maybe get the mats filmed the next weekend. Thank you for watching. I hope to see you around more videos in the future!! Have yourself a great week!!!
@G23reviews thank you, sir. I pushed myself too much the week before, wore myself out before the match even started 😂 Will be better prepared and over the first match nerves by the time the next one gets here in a few weeks!! Thanks for swinging by. Have yourself a great weekend and I'll see ya on some lives this weekend.
@mikewhite2aadvocacy172 Hey, Mike! Yes, when trying to eek out every bit of accuracy, little changes can have an effect. Mostly, primer changes will affect speeds. Some lots may have more or less priming compound, so they can ignite hotter or cooler, affecting the way the burn happens, which then affects projectile speed as it exits barrel. My problem ended up being a slightly loose screw. But, I am still glad I tested all my primers and got them organized now so I won't randomly grab a box from a different production run. Every little variable I can control, I want to master. I think I am pretty good on my ammo production. Now it is time to hammer down on the physical skills needed. I let that practice slack off while trying to make my ammo perfect. That is where I noticed the most of my errors. Besides the times I could not see the targets. Hard to control that when it depends on the background, paint or no paint on the target, and the location of the sun. A few had everything just right and the targets looked like they were just part of the hillside 😂 Time to rest up better and start preparing for the next one. I have a few weekends to work the skills and be ready to go for round 2. Hoping this ends up being my worse or one of 2 worse for this season. If I move up from here I will be happy. Like I said, I beat everyone except the guy who got first (also it is at his range, so he has home field advantage 🤣) at most of the matches last year. Except 2nd place, only beat him one time. So, I was off and the other guys were on much better this day. Thank you for swinging by this week! I hope you have a great weekend, sir!!!
Hi my fellow Okie! This looks like so much fun. Are you using a 6 CM? At least now you have your ammo right. You can work on the rest knowing your ammo is not the issue.
@Charles_ONeal Howdy, Charles! Yes, I am running 6CM. I watched the footage while editing and my rifle barely moves. I think I have most of the ammo performance figured out. Gotta tune up the other stuff to put a full match together better. Seems I would be off on something nearly every stage. But, that is why I am doing these. I want to learn and get better at this. I did well at the pistol matches so quickly, I wanted a better challenge. This is certainly a big challenge. Very hard to put everything together for a good stage, then to do a whole match well is another level to get to. I will get it. This year I should be jumping up the finishes pretty quickly. That's the goal, at least!! Hope you can make it out to try one or at least watch for a bit. I will keep ya posted when I get info on upcoming dates! Have a great weekend, Charles!! Thank you for swinging by, sir!
