    Taschenmesser means/translates to Penknife or Pocket Knife but more directly to Penknife.

    My favorite traditional pattern by far. I always have a sod pattern knife in my left pocket! And they get a huge amount of use, as much as I use my modern right pocket knives I just enjoy using my sod pattern knives even more.

    At a municipality I worked for we bitched to our boss about worn or faulty machinery and vehicles. He told us that since we did safety walk-throughs every morning, we needed to shop our stuff at fleet every day if needed to repair defects and once it got too expensive for them to repair they would replace the stuff. This needs doing with Case. You find a flaw in a knife, send it back. They have to repair or replace and will tire of that if it's often and costly enough. Money talks, they will notice

    If they produced a SAK the size of the tinker with an in-line dedicated Philips I’d jump in it

  • @MeMyself-jz9ms
    @MeMyself-jz9ms 6 месяцев назад

    You’re so right about the standard two layer Tinker being the perfect size in pocket and hand. Not too big for pocket and just enough in the hand. This is also the reason I love the Alox Pioneer and Electrician.

  • @MeMyself-jz9ms
    @MeMyself-jz9ms 6 месяцев назад

    My favourite is still the Alox Pioneer. I like the minimalism and the fact it’s more robust than the Cellidor models, plus I love the in-line reamer. I live in the uk and have to be careful when not working not to carry a locking blade. But I often carry a bladeless Leatherman Rebar EDC, or just a pair of pliers, a pocket ratchet with double ended bits and my Pioneer. I do like the look of the tinker and think it would make a great one piece edc for me because of the screwdriver, except I love carrying my leatherman or just the pocket ratchet and pliers..

    The half stop on the bottle opener has two functions. Obviously it enables you to get more leverage when prying with it, while putting less strain on the frame. The second function is so that you can use the little wire stripper slot in conjunction with the large blade to score the plastic sheath of wires before stripping them. You have it in the half stop position, with the wire you want to strip in the small slot at the base of the tool and then you gently close the large blade onto the wire while it’s held in the slot. Using the tension in the blade spring you can rotate the wire to score around it. Extra cutting force can be added by resting your index finger on the blade. This truly works. Felix Immler has a wonderful RUclips channel called Tips and Tricks with Felix Immler, where he explains all the obscure functions and many more things to do with the 9.1mm SAKs. He really entertains and is a great teacher. Definitely worth a visit. He’s done hundreds of quality videos on SAKs..

    I really hope Case improves in QC. If you order one on-line you may get one with very sloppy back spring. I recently ordered a Stockman 6347 and while I was checking it out I noticed that the sheepsfoot blade was floppy while in the closed position. When I turned it upside down, the blade would move about 1/16". Also, all blades were very weak in the open position, bad snap etc .... If you do want a Case it's best to pick one up at a store and will be able to weed out the shoddy ones.

    Have a Case sodbuster from years ago. It's impeccably made. Received another recently. The quality is not comparable. Blunt misshapen tip and not anywhere near centred blade.

    I just acquired this knife. It is a great EDC tool. I bought my only other SAK (camping model) back around 1982 when I was stationed in Brussels. With carrying a money clip in one pocket and key's, fob and change in the other, I find it easier to carry this large of knife in a cordera nylon pouch on my belt. I added a small Victorinox lanyard to the ring, which makes it very easy to pull the knife out of the pouch.

    Awesome video! I just ordered a tinker and I'm supposed to get it in just a few days. I'm excited about it because I just can't wait to get it. I have a huntsman, fieldmaster, classic sd, and a rambler. I really like all of those but if I had to pick one it would be the fieldmaster. That one is my go-to.

      Probably at the start it was here or part of it.. pre 1990 a lot more stuff was made here.. after the Soviet union collapsed that opened the flood gate to cheap slave labor no EPA no OSHA.. now if we went to war we couldn't put boots on our soldiers without china sad but true

  • @edwardcreel4571

      You should support us manufacturing when you can some things there's nothing you can do about but when you can you should so long as the quality and manufacturer is there and with case it's not anymore they're QC is terrible so is their quality of production in fact I won't buy a case knife if I can't see it in person I will not order them online because there's a better chance of getting a bad one then there is of getting a good one

    No, I hate to correct you but not ALL of Case’s knives are made in the USA, they also have a line manufactured in China, I believe it’s called Tec-X, if I remember correctly.

  • @freman007

    I just ordered a Super Tinker because the back Philips screwdriver is more likely to be useful over the corkscrew on the Climber. I do have a Handyman with Plus scales (and a Swiss Champ) if I need more tool options. The ST will basically be a "drop in the pocket" knife (although I have a heck of a lot of those anyway).
