I live on one of the coasts and do flat rate. I sell bjg heavy things (20-50lbs) amd flat rate is very easy to calculate. Yes the people that live closest tto me do lay a bit more for shipping, but when most of my listings are around the 200-1000$ mark most buys dont complain. Occassionally i will loose monwy on shipping, but overall on average it averages out 😅

Shipping policy can also be very dependent on category. I sell new, OEM auto parts and free shipping is almost a requirement. Something like 92% of items sold in the category ship for free. If you charge for it you just won't sell anything. The parts are more like a commodity where the price is the price. On branding, I had a 6x4" stamp made with my store name and logo that I stamp on the outside of every box. That, plus including a business / thank you card has helped with branding and repeat business. I also use paper tape which, IMO, makes for a more professional presentation over regular clear tape. Not to mention it's way stronger, easier, quicker and I use a lot less tape with it.

I'm always concerned that those big bubbles will break.

Do you find yourself using a shipping items😂 in something you have excess of? Like going to a larger size box, and sizing it down.

Instead of Grainger, check out Zoro ( which is actually a subsidiary of Grainger). Great prices to begin with. They constantly issue 10-15-20% coupons, making prices even better. It is called keyword spamming. It is a rule ebay has always had. You are not allowed to put any brands in the title unless it is that brand. Although alot of people do. Sometimes you will see them put a brand and then a ?. What you can do is put it in the description. In could say something like. Not brand barbie, however should fit a barbie doll. Hope this helps.

I have been reselling for almost 19 years. And I don't use a loupe at garage sales. It is a obvious clue you are a reseller or dealer. I also don't look items up at the sell. If it's a couple of dollars I will just take a chance. If it's more then I feel comfortable with paying without looking up. I will go to the car and look it up. To me it's rude to do it at the sale. It also doesn't help with any negotiations. As you've said most people don't like to know you are going to buy it from them and then sell it.

Do you separate and place items into bins by category or do you just list a bunch of stuff and put everything into the same bin?

So good to see you lovely people all together (we met in Lincoln)! My inventory system is growing from bins to hanging shoe organizers that are different colors so easy to sku. And small sterlite drawers at yard sales are a sweet pick up for those small ornaments and silverware! My storage area is a hot mess - but it’s my happy place😊

If it is useable I struggle to throw it away. I do have a smaller charity shop so I take it all there. O source there often so it doesn’t sit in my car long. I fully understand the just get rid of it idea.

I would never find anything without an inventory system. After Christmas, I’m going to do a complete inventory and revamp my inventory system in order to make more room.

At 250 listings I started having a problem finding things. That's when I started a system.

I do a hybrid. I have skus. I have a section for my shoes because I just got rid of most. I have a drawer for baby blankets. I have a section for etc I often sell something after relisting. I put Tote 9, then when i search Tote 9 it only finds that and not 19 Jewelry I have those little like foot by foot by 2 drawers that stack. I have 18 white drawers ones and 1-5 black. 3 are currently empty. ...115 and MN is TOO much geez. a1-z1 minus EGHIKLOP then A2-CDEFGH (e got repurposed to purses 1-4, G broke-I don't remember what happened to B2 but the 2s are smaller boxes)

I pre-wrap all my breakables in small bubble, then label them with what it is. I don’t want stuff sitting on a shelf where it could get damaged.

Inventory system is absolutely important. Also, smalls work best in shallow totes, like the under bed ones, otherwise you end up with a ton of smalls that you are cussing as you dig thru it. Ask others how they organize before you jump in would be my best advice cause we’ve all learned as we’ve progressed.
