Been doing this about 7 or 8 months now and last night was the first time I did end and sell similar. I woke up to 10 orders. I haven't had 10 orders in one week never mind one day lol
I end sell similar on items at 90 days. I don’t care if I lose watchers. If they haven’t bought in 3 months of watching, they aren’t going to buy. I’ll take the “new bump” for new watchers. But I don’t disagree with your thoughts.
I should add that I do revamp the listings prior to selling similar

I do end/sell similar. It works for me. I keep track of original list date in my custom sku. When items come up for offers, I take that into consideration on my offers. Just my way. I totally understand and appreciate your point of view also.
I have that Motley Crue dvd in my office 🤘🏼 - We don't ever end and sell similar. We used to regularly but we never saw and real difference whether we did or not. We do run a sale on everything over a year old that we refresh every month.
I have a little over a 1000 listings.I do 50 a day of sell similar. I keep track in my custom SKU of item location, buy cost, and date listed. I also have in my store categories a category of months/year. So when I list I put my item in two categories in my store (the item cat, and date cat) It's easy to run sales on old inventory buy choosing the date category you want to to do a sale on. I use my store more for my own personal organization tool. Not to offen when I'm buying on ebay do I go to someone's store and look what they have. That's just me. I have been doing it for seven months starting Aug 1st. I have seen a 22% increase in YOY sales since 2023. I might add that for 35 years I was an owner of a retail store, and like most retail stores I moved items to end caps or dump displays where people had to walk by them. We always saw an increase in that item’s numbers after the move. Taking something in my eBay store and just (Ending & Sell Similar) is refreshing it as a new listing and is in my opinion the same as moving it to an end cap in a brick & mortar store. As to tracking every day I relist the oldest 200 items, but I reduce the BIN price by $.01 each with the bulk tool (takes only one minute) so since I start every new listing at a $.99 ending price, I can see by the ending price of the 200 I am about to do how many cycles they have been through. That may cause me to change things on them in addition to E&SS or even eventually remove the ones that show no promise of ever selling. With the current 2700 items in my store that means every 13.5 days every item is E&SS and yet I see the increase in $$ and no I do not fear any harm from Google etc.

True, but watchers can become buyers when you send offers to them. Losing all watchers when you end/SS takes away a list of potential buyers.

Always enjoy the channel and content another channel i sub to is bearded thrift machine they did similar video today about ending and selling similar they ended and sold similar 500 items and 95% of their sales if not more last 2 days was items they just did so this is slippery slope not advised by some but definitely working for others.

I agree, i did it once and ran out of free listing. I paid 30 cents for awhile when i had 250 free listings (basic store at $4.99)with my store having 600 plus listings. Had to upgrade to the $21.99 STARTER STORE for 1000 free listings.
I do end and sell similar but have some insight. I did a store reset, ended everything and since I had not been listing, it hurt our sales. Hurt impressions. I think I'm going to agree! 😊
Very good I always end and sell similar. I am going to try your way to see how it goes. I put the day I list in the sku number with the cost of goods. Works great for me.
I think it also messes up your cross-posting tool if you are using one. The new listings are no longer linking to anything you have cross-posted.
I do similar especially with promotions. If it doesn’t sell in 30 days then it ge%10 off and after six months %25 after a year %35. & after 2 years it’s heavily discounted. I keep 95% of my cogs under a buck. Most of what I can reliably source is media and it’s long tail and I have the patience to wait on the sale.
If you relist instead of sell similar it notifies any watcher.
Nip/tuck was the story of a pair of California based plastic surgeons. Watched a few episodes when it debuted, but it got repetitive fast, so I stopped.
I just don't have time to do all the ending & sell similar stuff. If it ain't selling or getting views, it's MY fault and needs to be remedied.
