I needed something new...... and super 8 way my answer ;-) Super 8mm film is a type of 8mm wide film that was introduced by Kodak in 1965 as a cheaper and easier alternative to making home movies. It has several differences from standard 8mm film, including: Frame size Super 8 frames are about twice the size of standard 8mm frames, measuring 5.79mm compared to 4.5mm. Formgivare H. S. Magnusson! Some piece of Swedish design i L.A! Nice!
I am shooting my first roll of 35mm since childhood on this camera 😍
ahh the 700 brick ..owned one for a long time ..love it
Pro-tip: If you're looking to get a 5D Mk1, avoid getting one that comes with the battery grip and just buy that separately; most, not all, of the cameras sold with a battery grip were intended to be serious workhorses...
Very helpful video, thank you for the upload 👍.
Got mine for 59 usd
Hello from Finland. I am a fully amateur photographer recently interested getting back to film. I have had a Canon digital SLR earlier. A year ago I bought a Nikon F3 and it has been amazing camera. I have always liked to shoot with aperture priority with my old digital camera and I love F3 and it's "A" mode. I don't care it has batteries and electronics, I just love how it behaves. Just set the aperture, focus and shoot. I love how old fashioned and still easy to use this camera is. My album is now getting filled with great photos, best film photos ever (I used a normal pocket camera in the 90's). I hope my F3 will last my lifetime.
I've bought and sold this camera 4 times over the years, I never gelled well with it. it constantly overexposed the photos, it did have its moments of brilliance, but honestly the 5dc whilst slower was better for me.
You brought up the pronunciation of the name "Nikon". Said you pronounced it like Americans. In matters of the English language, I usually side with British usage. But in this case, the Yanks have it I think. For instance, how would you pronounce the name "Simon"? I rest my case.
I got one of these in mint condition boxed with all accessories, seller offered me the addition lens,so I bought that too,Great little camera,Apparently prosumer not consumer branded, pleased as punch,$3 what a bargain,Mine was quite a bit more than that. But it was complete and original box too,Great video.
i don't use mine. the 139 has manual settings making it a camera you can use for everything
You need to use lens hoods to increase contrast
Still use my D2X
just wondering if you came across a setting where the flash pops up when reaching a minimum shutter speed ???
First
the beautiful articulating screen
Early Konicas were bullet proof. Copal shutter... metal bodies.
Great video
Bought my A55 12 years ago. A Minolta owner since 1971. I now own too many cameras. ;-) But I love the GPS. I also love the XI motorized zooms along with some extraordinary sharp beer cans and Macros. I just bought an A65 for $160.00 on Ebay for slide and negative copying along with two extraordinary sharp 100mm and 50mm macro lenses. I also own a nice set of Canon RF series cameras and RF lenses. Sold my A7R II and lenses and went with the Canon RF system. Thanks for the video!
You should make sure you have the updated firmware to handle larger CF cards. The mirror just needs 4 tiny drops of super glue if it falls off, mine fell off after many years and re-glued it several years ago with no problem at all and it has remained attached. I would not worry at all about the mirror being retrofit or whatever. The claim made by some videos that the mirror falling off was only for early models is not really accurate, so just assume all of them have a potential issue maybe. Without the updated firmware if you use a larger CF card, and most are larger, then when reviewing the images you may cause the card to fail. Not sure if it will fail while shooting a larger CF card with the old firmware but it happened to me while reviewing the images on the camera using a larger card; firmware update fixed it. The revised final firmware is out there somewhere, I found it but don't recall where. I have had zero problems with removing and installing the CF cards, I don't know who these people are who can't do that safely but it is no big deal in that or any other camera I have with a CF card. So, don't get paranoid over pins and CF cards, just be sane in your usage and you will be fine. It renders images quite nicely and does have a pleasant color palette. For Jpegs in landscape try jacking up the colors and such, it has a nice look to it. It is a camera for slow and deliberate work and if you have to shoot things that move, like people, you will have to really think about how it is best done, i.e. closing the aperture, focus trapping and the like. It is essentially the same focus system as on the Mark II and I have used that in a wedding and it was fine. The 24-105 F4 L works nicely for almost everything, so I would get that with it if possible. I have not used manual focus lenses with it, so no idea how that may go. Best wishes!
I agree, this is a great way to get into analog photography. However... I made this mistake and now have a camera that can't be repaired. I wanted a rangefinder and did a deep dive on them. I found one that I liked the look of black and white images from it- a Petri 7s. It was dirt cheap on ebay and in abundance. I paid $10 for a pristine one plus shipping. And I never got to use it. In turning the aperture ring and firing the shutter to see how it worked, an aperture blade came loose. So it has an oddball aperture opening that could still be useable. And then the shutter stopped working. This is just me playing with it, before using it. I never got to use it. I bought a Yashica Electro 35G, got it CLA'd and it works like a champ. Save yourself some grief and buy a brand name camera that's proven.
I bought a 5d classic when it come out. My old version had some focusing issues. At the time I had the 24-70 2.8, 70-200 f4 and 50mm f1.8. I couldn't get a sharp in focus image when shooting wide open so I ended up selling it because it doesn't allow in camera lens callibration. However, I did love the images coming from the camera that were in focus and at some point I will pick up another one. It's not all doom and gloom as I still have my Canon 5d mk III :)
Pero editas las fotos después no?
How long is ‘too’ long to leave batteries in for?
Great video! I bought a D70 with a AF Nikon 35-80 lens for $35.00.
I’ve been wanting to shoot with my super 8 camera for a while now but haven’t made the financial commitment to buying and developing the film. I think I have this exact same camera in silver actually.
You shoot totally try it
IMHO shootig Super Eight is for those who want to bring out thei inner masochist. Short run times . Having to change film a lot. Don't get me wrong I worked in film for several institutions for several decades, still love film. Kodak used to sell processing mailers. I quite enjoy your channel.
Thanks for the info info ;-) I just love the final product
Triple figure !! woo hoo
Calm down. You sound like a used car salesman
I really wish they made a digi cam that has super 8 mode. Maybe they have it in software? Good vid.
Unfortunately it will never actually look/feel the same as a result of the physical film media and how the lenses that these older super8 cameras render. To get the look, ya gotta shoot the real thing.
Just bought mine and your video actually help me to use it! Im completely blind when it comes to using digicam :/
I'm planning on getting one, is it made out of plastic or metal?
lol no way first time I see a guy with 50 cameras and not a stick in his ass lol. I love that you say you are not a professional photographer but an enthusiast. That's rare to hear. Many times over you can see online these guys treating this as the most serious hobby. Especially now with old digicam craze, these guys will be screaming at the cloud because people are buying "trash" and not real cameras.
In my opinion, the Fuji S5 Pro is the best CCD digital camera ever made.
I've just ordered a D100 on a whim as I saw one for 41 GBP on my favourite used camera gear website. I am exited to play with it and immediately came to RUclips to see what I'm in for. You enthusing about the CCD sensor has got me even more hyped up. Looking forward to seeing how it compares to the Fuji X-trans sensor on my XT-2. Will be dusting off my old Nikkors and trying to find a CF card that is compatible (I'm guessing it needs to be of similar vintage). Great to see such enthusiasm for solid, old and still useful gear.
Lovely review, Robert! Just managed to buy a t5 and I was wondering what is about the uncentered frame you can see in the finder. Is that what I should use when I try to do my composition? Don't really understand though why is bottom right aligned. Many thanks
Nvm ill take may bet with a nikon d200
How did you know to buy it if it said not working I really want to get one but don't want to buy a broken one
I have a D60 also. The D40 (which I also have) is similar in size. The D40 is a 6 megapixel where the D60 is a 10 megapixel. Best of luck in your photography journey. Best, Duane
The N2020 is the camera i cut my teeth on back in my teens and my favorite SLR, I also have an N80 i enjoy using too, the only other SLR i have is a brand new N60 i just acquired to get a lens (SigmaEX 28-70mmD) for $17.99 on eBay. not sure if i am going to invest in batteries and use it or put it in my extras box and trade it off for something else...
The "bumpers on the side of the mirror" were implemented by Canon on later iterations and retrofitted to the earlier ones until as late as 2015 as covered by warranty/ownership of a Canon 5d.
Admit it. You tried to fit the E mount lens to the A mount camera...... It didn't go as planned.
You NEVER place a lens with the rear end down on a table without the black plastic cover attached.
Why not? I only ever do it if the back is more recessed than the front and I don't have a cap since 2H is like that
They're more than $5 on ebay and not sure about the "Prakticability" of thowing the case across the room on the floor.
Nice haul. Definitely paid for itself if there is anything you decide to sell on.
Do you know what kind of cable it uses? Thanks!
i ordered D700 for low light indoor shots. planning on using it with DX Lens 35MM 1.8G . i saw it somewhere on RUclips that says this combo works great as long as you keep your aperture below F/4.
Why does every weird photographer compelled to type a entire essay about every Camera they ever owned as a comment? 😂🤪 no wonder Camera Conspiracies channel rags on Photographers.😂. Too many make it easy 😂
Interesting. The d300, d3200, and D7000 are all running about the same priced used. A toss up now
Don't forget the D300S, in my opinion superior to all 3 of the above. The D7000 with it's 16MP sensor and a decent lens can have the edge in picture quality if it manages to acquire accurate focus, however when pushed hard (fast action etc) it cannot match the 300S.
Why are you yelling at us?
I have this camera and love it! Happy to see more information about it because I still barely know how to use it
