    Robert, first of all Thanks for this emotional but absolutely true interpretation of the D5100. I own one too, and I say that it is not necessary to buy some kind of expensive DSLR Cam new these days. You can do all amazing quality Pics and Videos with the Nikon D5100. Period :). Have a great day and take care, with greetz from Frankfurt/Germany, best regards, Mario ...Rock n Roll.

    I really enjoy these Nikon DSLR videos you create Robert! And I also enjoy your photos. They inspire me to continue to shoot when out with the wife who likes thrift shopping. Carrying these old dslrs around with a simple prime adds the element of "seeing" to even the most mundane activities and locations. Keep it going...

      Many thanks ;-)
      I also scored an Ansel Adams limited print in this run for $39 ;-)
      I didn’t see it with my eyes , I saw it through the lens lol and was like wow I’d love to but that … weird the perspective that the lens makes !
      More to come for sure

    I have the D5500, it sat on the shelf for years. Picked it up recently, a great camera.

      Oooo 5500 ?! Now that’s worth a look. How’s the video

      For still photos, it's great! For a 10-year-old camera, the video is good on a tripod, but really can't compete with the emerging technology in DSLRs or Mirrorless.

    I still have mine. It ended up in a stream with me, minus a lens (I was changing lenses at the time)
    After drying out for a week, it started working again and still does, several years later
    The Sigma 10-20 took 3yrs to recover as I was planning to dispose of it 😂📷👍

    I used my D5100 for 10 years and has been a great camera. I also installed modified software that left it on live view for 6 hours and I used it as my Webcam during the pandemic. This year, I bought a D610 for my F mount lenses and I also have a Nikon Mirrorless camera. My D5100 is being passed down to my kids to practice taking photos. The D5100 is a great entry-level camera to get for a DSLR.

      How was the customs firmware? I'm hesitant to do it on my D5600

    • @izziereal2010
      @izziereal2010 7 месяцев назад

      @@delgadillomateo It worked well for me. For the D5100, it was simply to add the ability to use it as a Webcam. Before, the live view standby time limit was 30 minutes. Also, in live view, it displayed all of my settings and it would show during a zoom meeting. With the modified firmware, it removed the display of my settings in live view (clean HDMI output) and increased my live view standby time from 30 minutes to 6 hours.
      Find out what the modified firmware benefits the D5600. Will you get additional options tlfor your camera? If not, it's probably not worth installing it. If so, then search on RUclips to find out where to find the modified firmware.
      My D5100 was made prior to the idea of using it as a Webcam and I installed the firmware to use it as a Webcam.

    Love your presentation on this camera. My D5100 has given me wonderful photos for many years. The colors with some of the settings are even better than with my D750. I got mine when my D40 broke. The D5100 checked all the boxes: lightweight, built-in flash, fully articulating screen, good video, excellent picture quality.

      Uh the D40 was a little pocket rocket for sure. Sorry yours broke !!! The D750 is on my bucket list :-))) thanks for the comment

    Had a d5100 and it took great photos and the articulating screen is such an underrated asset. Being able to flip the screen closed if you're walking around rocks with it hanging off your neck to keep it protected is invaluable. The megapixel count is such a good compromise between resolution and pixel size, with the pixel pitch being large enough to not have noise that looks like static, still having a grain quality to it, albeit not as good as some of the older cameras. The autofocus is definitely a weak point if you're shooting moving subjects. I gave it away to a family member when I got a D700 and D300 so I could photograph my kids, as the autofocus on those is lightyears better than the d5100.

    Owned one of those ten cameras ago and its performance was the same as a D3100 save for sensor and flip screen. Both had SLOOOOOW shutter response and 17 focus points and only a single cross point for focus. Step up to the D5xxx series or the D7000 series and you get a much quicker 39 point focus system. Video focus sucked on all the Nikon cameras pre-mirrorless.

    • @robbellphoto
      @robbellphoto  7 месяцев назад

      Yep ! The 7000 is pretty wonderful , but the price for the body and the lens is so reasonable and a great option for those low budget entry level shooters ;-)
      I did buy use and sell a D7100 and loved it. Actually used it on a commercial shoot and with a battery grip, I think I looked like a pro lol
