As a ‘protestant’ I wonder there is a risk that this is becoming a works based approach to God who is freely accessible to all. My spiritual message would simply be to pray incessantly for the Holy Spirit to inhabit by mind and heart.

This is interesting in contrast to guidance from the Church not to be too concerned with measuring our "progress" but rather to just strive for faithfulness. I always thought our "progress" is given by God the Holy Spirit in our slow transformation into the image & likeness of Christ as we are steadfast in our faithfulness/repentance. Not so much 'how am I doing' but 'what am I doing'. Fr. Paul, would you be able to clarify a bit on this?

Hello Father Paul and best regards from Serbia. We have that book translated in Serbian we translated as Orthodox Psychotherapy :) Book I can recommend аlso is The Ladder of Divine Ascent by John Climacus.

One orthodox priest said to read orthodoxy and new eastern religions it was just information I already had.

My local library's interlibrary loan department is getting a workout with all these books I now want to read. Thanks!

I'm currently reading his book Orthodox Psychotherapy the science of the Fathers. For me it's one of those books i don't want to end. Well written and definitely will have to revisit.

I would suggest you to look into history of Old Orthodoxy in Russia, the original Church without any compromises with those who were in power. Schism of Russian church left modern Orthodoxy stripped of many important points concerning our Faith. Hope our Lord Jesus Christ will show you the way to the whole Truth about Him. Спаси Христос!
