Wow. That part about life after death is totally new to me. That’s sounds both a lot more just AND merciful to me at the same time. I definitely want to learn more about that. That’s completely different than what I grew up with in the Church of Christ or ever heard about from anyone else in the Protestant traditions.
Great teaching! John 17:15 cancels the rapture theory. ”I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you to protect them from the evil one.“ John 17:15 NRSV
“I’m close to a breakdown but I’m more at peace with it.” Lol😂😂….I literally laughed out loud. But, truly, that is “the peace that passeth understanding” that comes only from God. 😊
This was very edifying talk, thank you Father Paul! It occurred to me while l was listening that the present day heroes, so called "celebrities", are in a way anti-saints and this does not mean sinners, since we all are sinners.
that is how I feel with my dad and a lot with others often I cannot look at them in the eyes hardly when I try. Lord have mercy, please pray for me, all. +
Thank you so much for this powerful video, I’m fascinated by gods infinite mercy and what he has done for me already, I will try to never be ungrateful since I have experienced his mercy and am working on repenting 👍
Good morning Fr Paul, this is Mathilde from France. I mindfully watched and studied all of your 14 lectures and I enjoyed it very deeply. I am so grateful for them, because I am a new catechumen myself - as I already commented on another video - so much so that I am rewatching all of them and transliterating them for myself in my "baptism journal" in french text so that I can come back to some portions when needed. After watching this video, a question remains... I don't fully understand "Life after death in Orthodox belief," I believe in resurrection and faith is not my problem, but I am also a very practical person and I would like to understand what I believe so that when time comes I can explain it plainly to others. As much as my understanding allows anyway. I can't find a biblical explanation for it nor make the link with the Lord's resurrection which seems to be his own. Though His could be a foreseeing of ours ? just like transfiguration ? I know he talks about resurrection and final judgment in many parables (so will it be in the end of times) but it is still very blurry in my head, I can't quite make all the connections to understand the belief in resurrection of the flesh after we have been buried. I come from a "new age/hinduist/sarva dharma" background, I was taught karma, incineration and reincarnation - but was never very convinced about it. I want to follow the Lord Jesus with all my strength but I would like a bit of explanations. I hope this is not disrespectful. As orthodox I know we are allowed to question our belief if it's for the good and with a sincere heart, which is why I come to you, because I trust you as a priest and as a christian. Do you have any suggestions, parts of scripture or maybe books/articles I could read?
What does Matthew 7:21-23 mean for those who follow Orthodoxy? Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Thanks for the clarification on the toll houses. When I first read about them, I admit, I panicked for a time.
Wonderful presentations. I absolutely can't imagine how Fr. Paul has learned all this material 🙂
Well he has obviously read a lot and prayed. May his prayers out pace his reading. I am thankful for him and his coworker in Payson.
The Christ "boop" on the scales was a beautful and joyful image.
