I worked to help with the election of the new mayor here. She is deeply Christian, and while not Orthodox, wants to help our Orthodox mission in building a church.
I remember I'm voting for a president not a saint. Which one best represents the values of Christ? Mercy, courage, speaking the truth, and sometimes tough love.☦
Yes out of Trump and Biden, i think it’s obvious that Trump defends / fights for the protection of Christians and their values a lot more. But like all of us he too is flawed and only Jesus can save us.

I used to be very active in politics, always in discussions with people and ending up getting annoyed with what I felt to be the stupidity of people and the corruption in politics. I made a conscious decision to step away from it, and now I very rarely engage with others about it. I keep up to date with what's going on, and I vote according to my conscience. But there's a big risk of politics being spiritually corrosive without realising it.
Great advice, Fr Paul. I had to step back couple years ago as it was conflicting with my newfound Christian faith in Holy Orthodoxy. I stopped watching news and shifted my social media profiles to Orthodox and cooking content. 🙏
Father I just want to thank you, i watched the video about Elder Cleopa and the 8 ways the demons attack you, I realized I've fallen victim as a catechumen to trying to teach and engage in online arguments. I repent from this, please pray that I may learn what repentance even means! Thank you.
Thank you Father. I appreciate the core of your message, but I do feel the need to point out a discrepancy I've seen among Christian communities. There seems to be an encouragement to actively speak out against political hot topics like LGBT and abortion, yet at the same time what seems to be widespread silence on topics like the humanitarian situation in Gaza… I am not mentioning this to be contentious, but to me this constant rationalizing away of the daily dropping of bombs on displaced civilians in refugee camps just shows me the bigger issue with politics and Christianity today. It just seems crazy to me that Christians can have such loaded opinions on stuff like ‘recovering masculinity’, yet we aren't even endeavoring to make an effort to speak out against our government enabling the literal slaughter of children who are trapped in a war zone with nowhere to go. In fact, I see many Christian figures online speaking with politicians and online pundits who've encourage violent rhetoric in this context and not even mentioning it to them. The most I might generally hear is a nominal prayer for ‘peace in the Holy Land’, which just comes across as dismissive considering there will be full sermons against things like 'woke culture'. This just seems hypocritical to me.
This is pastoral care. Thanks for the advice. All the things going on politically, to act like nothings happening and to not address it when it’s effecting so many peoples lives isn’t helpful.
I think this is the only thing I ever disagreed with father Paul on. feel free to correct me if needed, but I much prefer the *pray for everyone* including civil authorities and staying aware approach. I see comments online, and used to be part of that sphere myself, and these people want to kill each other. Entirely by design of course. I don’t find any good in becoming involved with the harlot, the system we live in is so far strayed from God that I almost feel it’s a sin to partake. Pray your leaders do the right thing, but don’t get caught up in it either. This is NOT our home.
I do agree with the sentiment that we should want our country to be godly. I am just concerned we’re a little too close and little too far gone to things to come for that to happen. While I can’t say definitely,as no one can,we are in a very precarious position where the people with the money want to make revelation happen, and are just biding their time for the right *disaster*
@Nicholas-bc3qt I’m inclined to agree but voting for trump will cause persecution upon homosexuals and more though I agree homosexual marriage should be banned and no abortion along with no more transgenderism but they way they want to carry it out is not how the Lord wants us to do it
@Nicholas-bc3qt well let’s understand this, he’s trying to appeal all civil rights which even means the rights that have been earned through the judicial branch which means this country could go back to how it was before the 1960s
The best way to support Orthodox Christian views such as love of country, the right to life and traditional family values in the political sphere is to join Patriot Front. They got a lot of flak online but they have many Orthodox members and hold similar views to our holy Romanian saints like Saint Sofian Boghiu, Elder Iustin Parvu, and Valeriu Gafencu.
@@sufficientinside336 Narcissist? So what is Biden? Trump still has moral and Christian values, while your Democrats are lost and very far from God. You have a population of over 300 million while only 40% are cerebral and genuine Christians, that's with indulgence. You don't agree with Trump, fine, but at least he's the closest leader to your principles, assuming you are a Christian.
