    What makes you think that Mormons have anything to do with Christianty?

  • @SaneNoMore
    @SaneNoMore День назад

    First of all, the seventh day sabbath is Saturday. Second, Christians are not commanded to keep a sabbath day as Jesus “is our Sabbath rest”. You also correlate special holy day events with standard Jewish Sabbath practices incorrectly multiple times. Paul states no man should be judged by the days he keeps or does not keep. The Church meets on Sunday as a tradition to commemorate the resurrection of Christ and (in early days) to separate it from those Jewish people who rejected Christ and attended synagogue on Saturday. I stopped the video when you started to reference the demonic Book of Mormon. “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.“ Heb 10:25-27. That is why we go to church. It is a command to assemble. We may do so any day we choose though Sunday has both historical and traditional significance. It is not a Jewish sabbath and we are not restricted by Old Testament sabbath laws.

      When we agree I think it a mistake to argue over semantics. Thanks for commenting though.

  • @OpieApproved

    Peter is not the rock. Christ didn’t build the church upon Peter. He built it upon himself with him being the head. Paul explained it in Colossians 1:18. The easier way to look at it is. Christ is the head of the church the body is the believers. So church = Christ + body of believers. Think about it. The church in Corinth, Ephesus even in Jerusalem all congregated in houses. They had no synagogue. The Jerusalem Christians were able to go to their synagogues but the gentile churches met from house to house. But they were addressed as a church in the epistles. Remember Jesus foretold the new place of worship under the new covenant in John 4:21. The apostles attested to it in Acts 7:48.

    • @WhatBibleSay
      @WhatBibleSay 2 дня назад

      I fully understand your point, and you are right but getting caught up in a semantic that is causing you to miss the mark. Yes Jesus is the Rock. He's the foundation the pillars and the roof. He is the centerpoint of the entire church. But he is not here running his church, so he calls prophets. This has been a pattern from the beginning of the Creation, that continued through the Old and New Testaments, and continues today. Peter's job as "the Rock" as Jesus named him, was to do all he could as Prophet and Apostle, to represent Jesus Christ and do what He would do.

    • @OpieApproved
      @OpieApproved 2 дня назад

      God forbid I miss the mark. There’s no room for semantics in scripture. The instruction to the church in 1 Corinthians 4:6 is not to go beyond what is written because everything is explained and interpreted in the gospels and epistles by the apostles and chosen disciples. Those scriptures survived despite the heavy persecution of the early church because the will of God regarding them is in 2 Timothy 3:16. When Paul said his last goodbye to the Ephesians in Acts 20:32 he committed them to the word of God as their guide to sanctification, not an existing nor upcoming prophet. Nothing essential to our salvation was left untaught by the apostles or they would had failed their mission and ministry. Until now, the apostles are still preaching the gospel of the Lord through the scriptures we have at hand. The apostles are not prophets. Paul explained their distinction in 1 Corinthians 12:29. There are prophets in the new covenant like the daughters of Philip in Acts 21:9. Peter’s job is the same as the rest of the apostles which was to preach the gospel, including the word of the prophets commanded in 2 Peter 3:2 through the apostles. The only apostle tasked to prophesy the details of future events was the last living one. John in Revelation 10:11.

      @WhatBibleSay День назад

      A couple questions: How can you claim this? "Nothing essential to our salvation was left untaught by the apostles or they would had failed their mission and ministry." And how can you be certain we have their complete writings?

    • @OpieApproved
      @OpieApproved День назад

      @@WhatBibleSay The simple answer is because I have faith in my Lord. I believe his words and his promise to the apostles are true in Matthew 28:20. How do you suppose those apostles are able to preach the gospel to ALL nations, and how do you think Christ is with them as they teach ALL nations to obey ALL his commandments until the end of age, if Christ is not with the gospels and scriptures they first taught by mouth and next by letter to this day? See what Paul says about how they taught the church in 2 Thessalonians 2:15. The scriptures survived and will continue to survive until the end of this world because Christ has spoken it in Matthew 24:14. I don’t know what you believe. But I believe no man not even an empire, nor the coming beast could stop my Lord from his will regarding his gospel. It’s as complete then as it is now and as it will be til the end. May you find the truth about God through Christ who saves you. I hope you hear.

    Well, whatever someone else says about "modern-day prophets" the world's religions would do well to remember that Almighty God created ALL mankind, and He loves us all, and, as foretold in scripture, He will one day claim all mankind and judge them for their intentions! A loving God has made ancient scripture available to man, with ALL of the inherent mistakes made by copying and re-copying the copies made earlier, and He will provide (and has provided) the modern corrections and directions for eternal life! In other words, He will NOT leave us ignorant! Neither has His love for His children lessened, nor has His ability to speak to a humble and listening mankind come to an end!! I have not read it. Throughout history God has regularly called prophets as His spokesperson. This began with Adam, and continues today. There have been many times of apostasy when the people become wicked and kill the prophets. So God calls more prophets. While I don't know much about the Quran, it's very possible that God called a prophet that lead to the writings in the Quran. Thanks for asking. I’ll try to answer. I believe in Amos 3:7 as a pattern that began with Adam, and has never changed. God calls prophets to speak His word. The Bible itself references many other writings of prophets that have been lost to time. At the similar time as the prophets Isiah and Jeremiah, there was a prophet named Lehi that lived in Jerusalem. God commanded him to take his family and a few others, and leave. They traveled on land, and after 8 years God instructed this people to build a ship. These people became some of the ancestors of the ancient inhabitants of the americas. God continued calling prophets among that people until 400 AD. Any written word we have from a prophet is called scripture. When a modern day religion decides to claim the Bible is the only truth, that’s when we have a problem. It’s as if they are telling God, sorry, but you can’t call any more prophets. No man has that power, obviously. When God calls someone as a prophet. It’s our job to discern whether they are a true or false prophet. I’ve studied the Book of Mormon deeply and find it certainly written by prophets of God who testify of the divinity of Jesus Christ. I follow Jesus Christ.

      @@WhatBibleSay My friend, I really want you to know the truth so I'm posting some things to think about. --- You wrote: I believe in Amos 3:7 as a pattern that began with Adam, and has never changed. God calls prophets to speak His word. I understand you believe new revelation can still happen after Jesus death and resurrection brought in the New Covenant. You also believe there can be new Holy Scripture after Revelation was written. I believe Prophecy can still happen, as you said we cannot put God in a box-but Prophets of God will also never contradict Scripture. There are plenty of contradictions in the Book of Mormon to the New Testament. If you want more information, I can get into this. I also believe we don't need any more Holy books after the New Covenant had been established. We already have all the instruction we need, remember that Jesus has sent the Helper, the Holy Spirit to us. --- You wrote: The Bible itself references many other writings of prophets that have been lost to time. Which passages say that? I really want to warn of the dangers of how we decide which books are Scripture, for example what is the reasoning that the Gospel of Thomas or the Shepherd of Hermas should not be included in Scripture? We cannot judge by our own feeling what should be Scripture and what shouldn't. We know the early church fathers followed Christ, the writings of the early church fathers are reliable on determining what is Scripture. --- You wrote: At the similar time as the prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah, there was a prophet named Lehi that lived in Jerusalem. God commanded him to take his family and a few others, and leave. They traveled on land, and after 8 years God instructed this people to build a ship. These people became some of the ancestors of the ancient inhabitants of the americas. God continued calling prophets among that people until 400 AD. I'm wondering how could this be when we know Jesus said in Matthew 15:24 "He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” --- You wrote: Any written word we have from a prophet is called scripture. When a modern day religion decides to claim the Bible is the only truth, that’s when we have a problem. It’s as if they are telling God, sorry, but you can’t call any more prophets. No man has that power, obviously. I think we can both agree there are false prophets. So how does one discern which Prophet is from God? We must keep in mind 2 Corinthians 11:14 says: "And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light." The early church father's listed which books are Scripture and they studied under the disciples of Jesus. We have great confidence that none of the books are lost(from the codexes we found from the early church age, finding of the Dead Sea Scrolls is hard proof the Jewish Old Testament has been unchanged for over 2000 years, we can reconstruct 99% of the New Testament from the writings of the early church alone.) We know that what we have in Scripture are God's words. If there are any contradictions then we know it is not from God but from the Devil. The Devil will use something that is mostly correct but slightly wrong to deceive us from the Truth.

      Many of the above claims you make above just aren’t true. They want to be teachers but they do not know what they arw talking about or what they so confidently affirm." (1Timothy 1:5-7( "Many will have a form of godliness but denying its power... Have nothing to do with them" (2nd Tim 3:5) "There are many rebellious people, merw talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcized group (ie. A religious idenity group). They should be silences bc they are ruining whole households by teqching things they ought not to teach." (Titus 1:9-11) They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny Him... Pay no attwntion to them... But hold firmly to the message that was taught [IN the BIBLE, by the true APOSTLES of days of Jesus Christ]. Jesus Christ said "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30) That the Father is in him and he is in the Father" (John 17:20) John the Apostle says that "Jesus is the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God, he was with him in the beginning" (John 1:1-3) Matthew says Jesus is called "Immamual" which means God with Us. Paul says in (Colossians 1:15-19) That Jesus is the image of the invisible God. That all things were created by him and for him. That He is before all things and in him all things hold together... the fullness of the deity lives in bodily form"(*see Col 2:9) The author of Hebrews says Jesus is the radience of God's glory and the exact representation/manifestation of his being(hypostasis). Hebrews 1:3 Lastly Jesus says "Go and makes disciples, baptizing them in thr name of the Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matt 28:20) Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded." [Not teaching Mormonism, Clavinism, Catholicsem, Lutheranism, or any other -ism men will come up with later down thr line...]

      @@WhatBibleSay the Bible is God's word. It is a "library" of documents written by different men in the ancient world. Those documents floated around along with other very similar documents, like the Epistle of Barnabus, The Shepherd of Hermas, 1st and 2nd Clement. There were also other documents that were talked about but not very similar to the core documents, these are like Maccabees, Tobith, Judith, the Martyrdom of Perpetual and Felicitas, The book of Enoch, ect. And then there were stait dubious books like the Gosple of Thomas, the Gosple of Mary Magdalene, or Gosgla of Judas. (What the Davinci Code was partly encouraged by) The early Christians knew quiet well what documents were the good and best, which ones were ok and close but not the core ones, which ones were ok and not secondary but tertiary, and then which ones were strait dubious. These early Christians knew this and talked about it as early as 100ad. Then they got together and roughly all agreed to Muratorian Cannon in 170ad, then a handful of additional councils over the next 200year. These councils only officiated/verbally/collectively declared/approved that the books they had all separately already parsed out into the different levels were indeed all shared across the ancient world. The early Christians knew the best and core texts were from the core disciples of Jesus Christ in the first century. All other works by Christian leaders, disciples of the disciples, philosophers and sect leaders were to be understood as "not scripture" but as secondary, tertiary, or dubious works. The book of Mormon falls somewhere in those categories... But it is not Scripture in the slightest, by any historic, academic, council, or otherwise affirmation.

      @@andrewmorgensen326 My friend, the Bible you could say is a collection of it being “added to” and receiving more love and joy and peace from God because of Revelation. Through the Holy Ghost is God’s love shed in our hearts and where we are sanctified by the Atonement of Jesus Christ, cleansed and purified. Without revelation, you don’t have the Gospel, am I right in saying that? Without revelation, this is no power, no healings, no miracles, spiritual manifestations, etc. We teach the original Gospel spoken of by Christ’s original apostles. Acts 2:36-44 is a good example while the early Christian Church is being birthed. All this is made possible because of the Atonement. I thought the Bible mentioned other Books of scripture also that we do not have yet. If God’s the original source for these things, why not go to Him and pray about the Book of Mormon on whether or not it’s scripture. It’s a matter of seeing who the Lord’s servants are and the fruit they’ve borne. Christ’s being abundant and never-ending life.

Well done! So cool! On Revelation and Bible: Yes, some books/letters of the Bible do mention other texts, and topics of the ancient world. books like Enoch, and the War Scroll of the Essens are among that. but luckily the early Christians knew quite well which ideas, and letters, and resources were the "best" and "core" and which ones were secondary, and which ones were tertiary, and which ones were straight dubious. In the Christian church, there are not "additions" or "adding too," for Jesus Christ was the prophesied one of the OT, and he is the Alpha and Omega, the first and last. So all of the OT prophesies and various books were leading up to God coming in the flesh. That is what all the OT prophesies are about, the Messiah, Immanuel, God with us. The NT is those men who saw the God-Man: Jesus Christ, who suffered under Pontius Pilate on the Cross. So the bible of 66 books as it stands OT and NT. Was understood from the earliest days as those "core" books/letters about Jesus specifically. Other books and resources like Maccabees, Judith, Tobith, etc were highly regarded but secondary texts. and then some texts like the Shepherd of Hermas, Epistle of Barnabas, Letters of Clement 1 and 2, The Martyrdom of Felicitus and Perpetua etc were also highly regarded and read by lots of early Christians as supplements to their faith but they knew and were very clear these too were secondary or tertiary texts, and not "core" scripture and then there were also dubious writings, like the Nag-hammadi texts; like the Gospel of Mary Madalene, Gospel of Judas, Gospel of Truth. etc. (the things movies like the Davinci Code was based on). The early Christians and Christians now are very clear on these different levels of distinctions. 😄 God Bless!

    Get closer to God Accept Jesus, Obey God, The meat of knowing God. To start with God is The Father, The Son, and the Holy Ghost. Three yet one. The law is our schoolmaster. It teaches us who The Father is, our law giver, who The Son is, our redeemer who you are and what it will look like after the return of Jesus. Jesus kept His Father's law while He was here, He will still keep it even though He is now King. Jesus inherited His Father's ways and laws etc.. To practice our religion is to be doers of The Word. In doing so we learn to not only give our heart to God, but our mind as well. Then one day, hopefully soon, we learn how to give our soul or body and we become the living sacrifice God so seeks. The church can't do what Jesus did because it is God who heals etc. through the living who did as Jesus did and can "keep" His Father's laws, given to the children. No one can keep all the laws because they were given to a nation. God and Jesus are one. So if we can see Jesus, we see The Father. So let's look upon Jesus. So let's see what The Father did when we repented and asked for help. God placed His law upon our heart.In John we are told that Jesus is The Word. Jesus is The Word, John 1:1-5 The Word God spoke: Exodus 20:1 The Word God wrote: Deuteronomy 4:13 and The Word God made flesh John 1:14 Jesus is the law that hung on the cross as well as the law God wrote upon our heart. If Jesus is in you, you must get in Him. Our directions are found in Deut. 6:8-9 Let the that hung on the cross and the Law written in your heart not just guide you, but lead you and your loved ones. As Paul would say, "put on Jesus." Seek the face of Jesus and spread Him over our land. Arm your children, home, loved ones, neighbours. Remember to pray always. Allow God to set our borders, protect our loved ones and may soon come His day and we are still standing. Put on Jesus. God has spoken to all mankind when He spoke the Ten Commandments, Deut. 6:8-9. (K.J.V.) Haven't we come to see not only sin leads us all to death, but so does religion, and not the everlasting life God freely gave us. Psalm 119:151Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth.

There are many things that were considered scripture during the time of Christ that were removed by men later, including the Book of Tobit, the Books of Enoch, the Book of Zenos, and many others. Therefore, the Bible is incomplete and therefore does not contain all of God's word, nor should we suppose that he can't cause more to be written.

      Let's look back at the Bible for useful examples here. In Matthew 5, for example, Christ says he is coming not to destroy the prophets, but to fulfill them. That is, the words of the prophets of the past were true and would be fulfilled, but the time had come for something more. The Lord has to be able to give *new* instructions to the world adapted to their time and circumstances. Indeed, this is described in Ephesians 4 as one purpose of the roles in the Church - the organization of the Church prevents the members from being tossed about "with every wind of doctrine," or in other words they are guided with respect to the false doctrines present in whatever time and place they may be in. The New Testament is full of inspired instructions that the Apostles were giving real time for experiences and challenges the members were then having. They didn't just refer them back to previous prophets. Revelation from the past is valuable, but the most important prophet to you is the prophet of the time you are living in. Could you imagine someone rejecting Jesus' instructions because Moses said something different? Well, yes, that did in fact happen, and those who did were not justified. So it is with any current prophet. Remember that Peter and the other Apostles received new revelation that overturned the practices that Christ Himself had maintained while He was on Earth personally. And that was because they were authorized to update these things by the inspiration and authority of God. The example I am thinking of is the taking of the Gospel to the Gentiles and all the world, which was not the ordained practice prior to Peter's vision of the sheet with four corners.

    THEOSIS “Theosis,” “Deification,” or “Divinization,” and it actually has a solid pedigree among orthodox theologians, apologists, fathers, doctors, and saints of the Church. But where did they get this idea? After all, Scripture clearly teaches that there is only one God. This is evident from writings in both testaments including historical, prophetic, poetic books as well as gospels and epistles (e.g., Dt. 6:4, 2 Kgs. 19:19; Isa. 45:5; Ps. 86:10; Jn. 5:44; 1 Cor. 8:4; etc.). Further, it is clear from Scripture that men are not God and vice versa (e.g., Num. 23:19; 1 Sam. 15:29; Hos. 11:9, etc.). However, Scripture also teaches that man can become God-like. “I say, ‘You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you’” (Ps. 82:6 cf. Jn. 10:34) “The glory which thou hast given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and thou in me, that they may become perfectly one” (Jn. 17:22-23) “Know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (Eph. 3:19) “You may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of passion, and become partakers of the divine nature“ (2 Pet. 1:4) “Beloved, we are God’s children now; it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall be like him“ (1 Jn. 3:2) These passages suggest what theologians have called the “Formula of Exchange” - a teaching directly tied to the role of Jesus’ Incarnation’s in our salvation. However, neither these nor any other verses mean that human nature can be changed into the divine nature of God. What they mean is that human nature can partake in the divine nature of God. So, if quotes from Church fathers, doctors, saints, popes, etc. are found that seem to indicate otherwise, they are not being understood correctly. While it is easy to compile quotes from various writers that “clearly” state that man can become God, there is always a theological context that must be kept in mind. The guiding principle concerning these sorts of statements is that when divinity is predicated of humanity, it is according to participation in grace, not to generation by nature. In other words, “divinity” in these cases does not refer to a change in what something is, but rather what it is like. For example, when we participate in the Eucharist, we “become the body of Christ” (see 1 Cor. 10:16-17) - but we do not become the divine savior of the world! St. Augustine makes this all-important distinction clear when he says, "He has called men gods, that are deified of His Grace, not born of His Substance. For He does justify, who is just through His own self, and not of another; and He does deify who is God through Himself, not by the partaking of another. But He that justifies does Himself deify, in that by justifying He does make sons of God. “For He has given them power to become the sons of God.” John 1:12 If we have been made sons of God, we have also been made gods: but this is the effect of Grace adopting, not of nature generating. For the only Son of God, God, and one God with the Father, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, was in the beginning the Word, and the Word with God, the Word God. The rest that are made gods, are made by His own Grace, are not born of His Substance, that they should be the same as He, but that by favor they should come to Him, and be fellow-heirs with Christ. (Exposition on Psalm 50, 2)” St. Thomas Aquinas is helpful here as well, because he more regularly states the qualifications that are needed. Note that in the quotes below, the highlighted statements sound quite “clear” until clarifying terms such as “sharers in” or “participation in” are added into the equation. Throughout his writings, Aquinas is adamant that the ontological distance between God and man (or any creature) is so far (namely, infinite!) that the two cannot even be compared on the same scale. God is so utterly “other” than mankind that human knowledge cannot comprehend God’s essence, nor can our language adequately communicate God’s essence. Aquinas’s language concerning deification, then, must be understood in accordance with this position. Thus, in his theology of deification, he says things such as this: "But the Son did not love the disciples in either of these ways. For he did not love them to the point of their being gods by nature, nor to the point that they would be united to God so as to form one person with him. But he did love them up to a similar point: he loved them to the extent that they would be gods by their participation in grace ‑ “I say, ‘You are gods’” (Ps 82:6); “He has granted to us precious and very great promises, that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature” (2 Pet 1:4) ‑ and he loved them to the extent that they would be united to God in affection: “He who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him” (1 Cor. 6:17); “For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son” (Rom 8:29). Thus the Father communicated to the Son a greater good, with respect to each nature of the Son, than the Son did to his disciples; yet there is a similarity, as was said." (Commentary on the Gospel of John, 1999) Saints Augustine and Aquinas are the heaviest of the theological heavyweights in the Catholic Church. Their theological qualifications concerning deification can be applied to similar statements of orthodox theologians, apologists, doctors, and saints of the Church even when they do not indicate it in every particular statement. (Note: even when this distinction is not stated plainly, it is most often implied by terms such as “of” or “with” that can be easily glossed over if one is not looking for them.) But what does this notion of participation mean? The distinction between participation in grace and generation by nature is critical if one is to understand what these orthodox theologians are saying - one that, if missed or misunderstood, can lead to the kind of metaphysical confusion one finds in Mormonism or the Word Faith movement. Here an illustration might help. St. John of Damascus speaks of being our “inflamed and deified by the participation in the divine fire.” Fire makes for a good analogy for participation. Consider a frying pan being heated over a fire. When the pan is put into contact with fire, it participates in the fire’s heat (i.e., it becomes hot). Now, the heat of the fire is what the fire is by nature, but the heat of the pan is that which it has by participation. When fire heats the pan, heat can be said to be part of what the pan is - but both the fire and the pan remain unchanged according to their basic natures. The pan becomes hot but it never becomes fire - hot or not, it remains a pan. Because both the fire and the pan can be said to “be” heat, there is an analogical sense in which the pan can be said to “be” fire - but this must be understood as referring literally to the pan’s participation in the fire’s heat - not that the pan literally becomes fire by nature. In the same way that we can say (accurately, but only analogically), that the pan can “become” fire, we can say that man can “become” God. Participation also implies difference. God does not simply have more power than man, God’s power is of a wholly different kind. The same goes for all of God’s attributes: presence, knowledge, love, goodness, etc. God’s presence is also entirely unlike that of us human persons, as we must be in a particular place, while God is everywhere. So to say than God is present at church is not the same thing as saying a man is present at church. Similarly, even if a man were to somehow know all things, he would not be omniscient in the way God is. God knows all things as their creator - their first cause. This gives God a kind of knowledge man will never have, even if man could in theory learn all facts. In saving mankind, God’s grace does not destroy nature, but perfects it; yet, even a perfected human nature is still limited to being what it is. It will always remain finite - and the distance between finite and infinite is so great that it is not a difference so much as a complete distinction. The same will always be true of God and man. God is absolutely unique and the infinite chasm between the Creator and the creature can never be crossed. It is clear from the writings of those who make such statements that no orthodox theologian is confused on this point, and such statements need to be read with the above distinctions in mind. “If anyone desire in this way to be Godlike, he commits no sin; provided that he desires such likeness in proper order, that is to say, that he may obtain it of God. But he would sin were he to desire to be like unto God even in the right way, as of his own, and not of God’s power.” (St. Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologiæ I, Q.63, A.3)

      I know my Bible well. Iv been a pastor for 17 years. Working on my masters in ministry. Here is thing, Joesph Smith wrote a fictional story, his “interpretation,” clearly shows that it was developed by a yet to be fully mature adult mind. Any fiction author today can point to this. Here is an example, he understood Christ to be a literal son of God… in the sense that God bore a child with a woman, however this is not the meaning of the expression son of God. Son of God, means one from God. A child sees the word son and immediately connects that to concrete examples, adults can understand the what the terms meaning is. The same goes for his understanding of satan. (Brothers with Jesus?) This is a common problem for young minds. The childish fictional theme is so clear. It is becoming more and more obvious as time goes on what Mormonism is. This is why they are rapidly declining. You should stop trying to find your identity in this, pick up a trusted Bible, and just do a word study of Knowledge, Light, and The Word. These are all abstract terms, that when applied to the nature of God, Christ, the Spirit, our Mind, heart, and Soul, will help you understand the truth vs. the fiction of this cult.

    The Bible says not to misinterpret what it says. This is impossible. The only way to accomplish not misinterpreting the Bible is to ask the author "what exactly did you mean"? For example, song lyrics are often misinterpreted by the individual listeners understanding of what the song writer is trying to convey. The only true interpretation is that of the person whom created the original thought. Therefore their is no possible way to get the true meaning of the Bible because the original authors are dead. Asking them is the only way.

      Sort of but you are missing two important points. 1.Scripture interprets scripture and cannot be divided (say two different things or mean two different things, they must be in harmony. This requires much study, original language translation that is faithfully translated) and 2. The Holy Spirit. Nothing, not even our salvation is accomplished without the Holy Spirit and we need to walk humbly before our Father and seek Him for clarification and wisdom. We will get it wrong sometimes but there’s a difference between misunderstanding that can be corrected by those wiser (like Peter who was corrected by Paul) and those who willfully lead others astray for their own glory and status (false teachers)

      As far as being a good or a bad thing it depends on the person reading it. If it makes the reader find fulfillment in their life it is a good thing and I find nothing wrong with that. However, if the reader uses it as infallible proof in order to push their beliefs onto others it is bad. I personally do not believe that the Bible is the word of any god. In the old testament the Isrealites are God's chosen people, where does that leave everyone else? Does this mean that all of the people that come before the "word of god" are doomed to he'll for all eternity? You can read about it in scripture. Paul corrects him and he repents. I brought that up as a point between our misunderstanding scripture and in our best efforts, we don’t get it right or we are influenced by a false teacher (like Peter) vs someone who deliberately picks and chooses scripture to make their point.

      Everything in the Bible has pointed to there being a restoration. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is meant to be proof that God has not given up on His people the House of Israel, neither on the world! He will not not fulfill His covenant that He made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and His successors. The Book of Mormon is a sign of the fulfilling of that covenant. I know Jesus and His mission, I know that he has a purpose for me and you. This Kingdom is rock solid my friend, no matter what you say. Shall the standard of truth not be erected in such a lost and dying world! That’s why we have our Apostolic and Prophetic Authority to rightly divide the word and expound the scriptures unto the people and give us new revelations today. It’s a normal process. Test these things. I know the Spirit of the Book of Mormon, it’s one of peace and hope and Joy. It’s one of new beginnings, it’s one of bringing back together mankind to God through Christ’s Atonement. I have felt such inexpressible joy at the age of 13 when I gained that testimony of the Book of Mormon, nothing else in this word matters to me, please try living our teachings with real intent. It’s important to learn from the past but we’ve got problems today that are bigger than you and me, there are people out there that need us. God is really the source of true joy.

      There is a clear difference between reading the Bible and trying to understand it. There is basic interpretation. But if your interpretation goes against Church authority and what they determined to be doctrine. For example you can’t just read John 6 and say that Jesus is speaking figuratively about Holy Communion. But all Protestant denominations differ on their opinions. Or let’s say Baptism. Most Protestant Christians at least pastors say that when a person is Baptized no miracle occurs it’s just a symbol. Problem is Jesus gave authority to individual teachers to protect the Word of God. If Jesus doesn’t establish one Church which He did than there’s no reason to be Christian. The entire ancient not just in Rome but all over the Middle East. Never interpreted ever that these things were just symbols. So who is a real Prophet that can interpret big issues. We can interpret the Bible as far as we don’t transgress go against Doctrines on Faith and Morals that have there root Sacred Scripture. But all these Protestant groups all differ on serious issues that can lead to hell. For example the sexual sin of Contraception, Divorce and Remarriage, the sin Pornography Masturbation etc…. Many now which are excepted in Protestant Churches and at one point weren’t but they changed with culture of death. Jesus has and Must establish a Church that’s why he does in Matthew 16 regardless of individual corruption of people the Faith and Morals of the Catholic Church cannot be changed or altered not even by the Pope himself. If it’s True it’s always true. God Bless you.

    That Second Witness, produced by a whole string of Prophets, clarifies many misinterpreted Bible verses and fills in many of the plain and precious things left out when the Bible was compiled some 300-400 years after Christ. If only all in the world could read God's whole word, the gospel would make a lot more sense. Unity will come only when people are willing to learn more about Jesus Christ and desire a deeper personal relationship with Him.

      The highest and true worship must have a sacrifice. Worship with sacrifice was not only done by the Jews in the Old Testament. Pagans also made sacrifices when they worshiped their idols. For the Jews, they used lambs as sacrifices in their worship of God. But for Christians, Jesus is the sacrifice. He is the perfect sacrifice for the true worship. When you preach, pray, sing, or dance only, you are not yet worshipping in the highest way.

      Well, we know that the Pharisees in the time of Jesus, who were in charge of the sacred records, had a version of the law of Moses that was quite different from when Jehovah originally gave it to Moses. Jesus, who knew God will perfectly had no problem picking corn or healing on the Sabbath, as an example. Do I believe all the writing of the Jews to be scripture?… well as long as it was written by a prophet of God, and its purity and truth have been preserved.

    Here are a few of my favorites: Romans 8: 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 1 John 3: 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. John 10: 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? Early Church Fathers Irenaeus of Lyon, Adversus haereses, 3.19.1. 130 to 202 AD. "For this is why the Word became man, and the Son of God became the Son of man: so that man, by entering into communion with the Word and thus receiving divine sonship, might become a son of God." St. Athanasius, On the Incarnation of the Word 54.3. 326-373 AD "For He was as made man that we might be made God." Thomas Aquinas, Opusc. 57, 1-4. 1225-1274 AD "The only-begotten Son of God, wanting to make us sharers in his divinity, assumed our nature, so that he, made man, might make men gods."

    The Bible doesn't say anything about the big bang theory because there never was a big bang in relation to the universe. It's always been an eternal "bang". An eternal progression of forming galaxies as the Gods have been creating ever since.. and for eternity forward. Secondly, the Genesis story is told by Moses as if a man was standing on the earth trying to relate to it's creation as well as the heavenly bodies it is directly akin to. Regarding to the physical creation of this particular solar system when it was void of organized matter ... when God said let there be light, the sun was created first. The Bible does not say the sun was created on the 4th day but indeed it is mentioned at the forth stage of the creation of this solar system because that is when the sun, moon and stars would have first appeared to the naked eye should a man have been already been standing on the earth to witness it all becoming visible when the atmosphere cleared from it's translucent stage of mists and gases. The Sun appeared on the fourth day but was created first which rules all it's heavenly planets that were created afterwards. :>)
