Does this work with blender Octane?
It works partially. The geometry nodes can be used in any engine you want, but you will need to create the materials for it, and the Smart Weathering main node group will need to be baked (as textures). Hope this helps you clear your doubts!
Let's say I want to remove some of effects on the larger plates, to make them more clean. Is there a way to vertex paint the mask and hide parts I don't like or do I have to use sliders until I get the distribution I want.
Yes, you can! Here is a video that we show some tips on how to mask them: ruclips.net/video/WwNZ10NppCg/видео.html We have more videos like that one in our playlist and many tips in our documentation that you may find useful. If you need more help, please contact us at contact@tinquify.com to better help you Hope this helps you :)
@@Tinquify Hi, thanks. I researched a bit beforehand and saw the video. If I understand correctly it relies on baked maps. I was wondering if there is a way to vertex paint things manually?
@@Frostensen It doesn't rely on baked maps. You can plug into the sliders a mask that can control the amount of the effect. White will be full effect, black will be no effect. And it can be a procedural node, an image texture, or vertex colors. Please, check the tip #2 in that video where it shows how to mask the effect.
@@Tinquify Ohhh I seeee. Aweesome. Please finish up that eevee version ;P
Please make Eeevee compatible and procedural smart weathing. Nodes are such a pain. I'd pay a double price just to get out of nodes.
Thanks for the feedback and nice wish! Smart Weathering can be used in Eevee, but only if you bake it. We have a video about it in our channel. We also wish that Smart Weathering would be able to be used interactively in Eevee. And even though it is getting closer, that is something that doesn't depend on us. Eevee needs lots of optimization. Right now, it takes too much time to load and to interact with heavy shader effects like ours. It is starting to get better (Vulkan implementation is starting to do its effects), but it is still far away to be in an "ok" status. We have tried many times different workaround but still can't make an ultimate interactive and realistic solution for Eevee. Hope you understand!
@@Tinquify Hi, thank you for the quick reply. Your architecture is probably a lot different but maybe it would help to look at this guys addon. Unlike yours, it's not layers based but nodes (so for different audience), but he has managed to make a good and useful Edge mask with single AO/bevel node for both Eevee and Cycles and UV/Box projection switching (if edges is the only problem you might have) ruclips.net/video/bHHOaMgPmMg/видео.html
@@Frostensen Thank you for the feedback and the help! We will consider your idea when iterating again a solution for Eevee :) We have been doing some test with SW and Blender 4.2 and it starts to be close. But we can't guarantee anything right now despite we wish to.
as blender doesnt charge fr the software you shouldn't charge for a plugin. act proper

Thanks!
Hey, you could at least mention my name.
Hi, the deep suit 3D model, inspired by designs from the Underwater movie, was purchased from your Gumroad store, along with other models from different authors. We used them in our project for presentation purposes. While it wasn’t required to credit the creators, we chose to do so in our product description and on platforms like Artstation and Behance. We appreciate your work and hope you understand our approach.
@@Tinquify I see, no problem!!
looks amazing - is it possible to optionally control effects by handpainting maps/masks?
Thank you for the nice comment! Yes, you can optionally control the effects hand painting the masks (despite we built SW to not need to deal with that) We show that in our 2.1 presentation video you can see here: ruclips.net/video/QWLKz6rMcrA/видео.htmlsi=HNnN_74osgZkSBWb&t=48 And we also show something similar in this other video: ruclips.net/video/WwNZ10NppCg/видео.html We will probably do a dedicated video to that.
@@Tinquify thanks, just bought your addon and looking forward to use it soon.
@@fredarthur-art Thanks for the support! We really hope you have fun in your projects using SW!
This New HDRi Product Looks Really Good!!! Great Job Guys!!! 👍😁
Thank you very much! We are glad that you like it!
I follow the steps, but the results do not appear, only in Cycles, since when I put the project in Eevee, I get a solid color. I bought the SimpleBake, but it is not compatible with version 4.2 of blender. I use that version, it would be nice if you can help me use this Addon in Eevee and I can see the results
Hi! First of all, thanks for supporting the project! Now regarding your question, as it is explained in this video and in our documentation, to see the results in Eevee you will need to bake it. Smart Weathering doesn't give a direct output for Eevee, at least for now. Once baked, as shown in the last part of this video, you will be able to visualize the effects on Eevee. Now, the Simplebake add-on should be compatible with Blender 4.2. This video was done using Blender 4.2 alpha. Please check our documentation where you will find a FAQ and many tips, and also try to check again the Simplebake add-on. Maybe it is a matter of updating it to the latest version. Hope this helps you. If you need more help, please get in contact with us, sending an email to contact@tinquify.com to better help you.
Awesome addon! Thank you!
Thank you very much!
Hi @1:05 the folder you selected where all the presets are, i don't see them in the download....am i missing something? 😢
Hi! That folder configuration is to set where all the presets will be located later on after you save them / create them. As explained in the video, it can be any folder you may find convenient. At the beginning, you will have that folder empty (because there will not be any presets saved). In our video, we used a folder where we already had some presets saved (that is why it looked full of files). Hope it helps you!
WHAT ABOUT BIG SCEEN WILL IT WORK ON IT?
Hi! We are not sure what you mean with your comment. If you are referring to using this setup in a closeup, then we tell you that it could be possible. It will depend on your needs.

Just Amazing!!! You make it looks sooooo Easy to achieve these Cool FX!!! 👍😁 For me it takes normally more than 60 Seconds with Smart Weathering to achieve Stunning Resaults!!! 👌😉
Thank you very much! ❤️ And yes, it is super reasonable to take some time, even more if you are learning how to use it. But once you learn it, you get faster for the next time. Also, keep in mind this video is resumed, and speed up! 😉
Just Amazing as usual!!! 👍😁
Thank you very much for your support! We really appreciate it! ☺❤
Just Amazing how Powerful SW is!!! 👍😎
Great job!!!🔥🔥🔥
Thank you very much!
Excellent Excellent system for product visualization and hard surfaces. It works with your existing shaders as an extra step in the node tree. Such a controllable system with killer results. Cancelling my Substance subscription.
That is a dream comment! Thank you very much for appreciating the value of our efforts to create a solution that adds value to your workflow. Welcome to the Smart Weathering family 😊🎉🎉
Hi, about this folder that you show, where does all the content in there come from? I did not see it in the zip file. Should this be any empty folder of my choice or should this be folder where assets and textures from this addon should be uploaded to? That part was not clear to me in the install process. at 1:05

@@Tinquify wow that's a quick service, thank you :) I've purchased the addon on Blendermarket :)
@@UnchartedWorlds Thank you for the support!
UV map unpacking not needed here? This plugin shader operates in 3d space?
Yes, exactly, you don't need to worry about UVs. The textures are created procedurally using the object shape and orientation as information. If you need to export it or bake it, for any reason, then yes, you will need to create the UVs. Here is a tutorial we made about this workflow showing how you can do a PBR bake using a third party addon called simple bake. ruclips.net/video/G_Dl6Ti-o6Y/видео.htmlsi=UJLtyvkRok6SYb5S But in some scenarios like getting still images for concept art or in short films donde in Blender you may be able to skip the UVs and retopo. A good example is our Smart Weathering presentations. We didn't use any UVs. Just our procedural texturing (which also due to its nature) can give you animated textures. That is why we believe this tool is very powerful!
Amazing as always! We have Lionel Messi, and then we have the Tinquify team proving that Argentinians have talent! This addon is sure to be in the top tier and one of the most used addons in the marketplace. Currently, I have about six different addons to do a similar job, but even with all those addons together, I can't achieve the amazing results that Smart Weathering does! Great work, guys!
Thank you very much Axel for the very kind comment you did! It is really valuable for us to hear that type of support. Muchísimas gracias y este es un casco como el que hiciste vos para innovación ;)
Amazing as usual!!! 👌😁

Wow, that was an amazing example. I'm loving to see what you can do with SW.
Thank you so much! And yes, by doing just a few combinations you can boost the power and increase the possibilities of SW!
Great example 👏. Now just want to find time to do something similar. My SW copy is waiting for me to give attention to it LOL
Thanks! And don't worry, whenever you have time for your project you will be blazing fast with SW 😊
Is this done in Unreal or in Blender? Also is this material/mesh free to use or can you pay for it to use in other projects?
This is done in Blender and the effects are done using our product called Smart Weathering. You can export the result to UE if you do a PBR bake (with "Simple Bake" or "Bake Wrangler"). To better understand it, please check the other videos we have in our channel ☺️
@@Tinquify Thank you, this is amazing! I'm only starting out and Blender is something I need some time to get used to. All the best!
We can bake this after we are happy with result?
Yes! You can bake the SW masks (which can give you a performance boost), or you can use a third party addon like "Bake Wranger" or "Simple Bake" to make a PBR bake (to use it on Eevee or export it to other software if you need to). In our channel, we have a video showing how to do a PBR bake using SW 2.1 + Bake Wrangler. We are planning to make a more updated one, but it is still relevant.

@@Tinquify perfect thank you :)
What you do in 2 minutes I expend 1h But it's 1h of pure fun
We love to hear that you are having fun making your projects with SW! In this case, we made a texturing as quickly as possible to show the potential by using a few sliders. Iterating through different textures styles will of course take some time. The important thing is that you enjoy the process, and the more you play, the quicker you will be texturing 😊
Do the textures transfer well into Unreal Engine?
Yes! You will need to just use a PBR baker like "Simple bake" or "Bake Wrangler". We have a video in our channel showing it with the SW 2.1 version.
@@Tinquifythank you 💯👌

Thank you a lot for appreciating our work! Yes, we decided to make this tutorial earlier than we initially planned. We hope you have fun learning and creating lighted up projects!
Very detailed information. thanks a lot for that. Its easier to use the fire effect 🙏
Thank you very much for being so supportive! We really appreciate it!
A lot of useful information, thanks a lot.
Thank you for this tutorial. It's not just I am too lazy to read the documentation, but also these videos offers a more natural way to explain things and see how every change affects your scene. Can't wait for the fire one!
Thank you for appreciating it! Yes, we understand it, the documentation is specially useful when you want to search for specific things. Videos are very helpful to give, as you said, a more natural way to show what can be done. We will be adding more videos throughout time, but they take us time to do them. So please stay tuned :)
Even if you add a texture coordinates based on the Empty, when rotating the objects the weathering effect remains in place, like if it 'sliding' instead of being 'attatched' to the geometry. Is baking textures the only possible solution to this?
We understand that you want a static texture. By default, SW will have that "sliding" behavior because that is what it makes it smart (because it adjusts the texturing to the object rotation and shape). If you want to make it "static", you can use a Custom texture coordinate node, and parent (Ctrl+P) the object referenced to the object that has the SW texturing. This way, when you rotate the object with SW, both will rotate, which will result in the texturing looking static. This should work for most effects. Some others, like the top corrosion, will still be calculated from the top. In that case, you will need to bake it. We will see if it is possible to add an option for this case in future updates. If you need more help, please email us to contact@tinquify.com

Hi! We understand you, but we are about to relaunch a new updated version of the add-on very soon and it will work on Blender 4.0! Please stay tuned.
