Hillside Thrills with 75 bhp | Suzuki Cappuccino | Usui | Sunny Afternoon | Assetto Corsa S2E10
My Fellow Racers,
Continuing with the still nameless series, here is Chapter 10 and I am now at Usui. I will only be doing downhill runs here simply because of the map options (I don't have a map where I can do a hillclimb). I chose the 1995 Suzuki Cappuccino (soft top dropped) to represent RWD. My plan for Usui was to go light with atleast 200Bhp but I found that this was quite a challenge when it came to stringing corners together with speed so I went with a super-light and low powered car. While 75hp sounds like a joke to do a time-attack with, it was this class of car that proved to be the weapon to use when attacking Usui Downhill.
As I mentioned previously since chapter 1, there are r...

    The centrifugal supercharger is great for wet dirt builds. Though I made record times with it on normal dirt, I couldn't repeat with the other options as well. Never use a turbo for off road, would be my advice.

    Nice guide. A guide of my own. If you are a controller user and want to try a wheel, the Moza R3 is the must buy for xbox. Forza Horizon 5 is THE GOAT of driving games with a modern wheel. Thanks man, I agree 100% with you regarding that Moza R3. Just the other day I was recommending this to my friend. I don't play Forza anymore though, all my Forza games (FH5/FM8) stopped working in November last year and I haven't been able to get it to work since. Wish I could though because just before it stopped working, I was getting pretty decent with using my wheel (Thrustmaster TX) But anyway🤷🏻‍♂️ Also, seeing that you contributed in this way... I give a few pieces of knowledge that I learnt after I made these guides... Camber is also used to reduce body roll Toe angles can be used for generating more heat in a tyre ARBs affect how the car reacts on turn-in. The stiffer the bar, the sharper and quicker the turn... Except the rear, the stiffer the rear bar, the more the car is going to feel like a go-kart. And then something I always say to remind myself lol: alignment starts at the rear but where the front goes, the rear must follow

    • @racingreaperofficial
      @racingreaperofficial 2 месяца назад

      By the way, I just remembered something. I am guessing you have a wheel so I have to say this to you. Don't follow my guide to the T, use it as a guide for making corrections to the setup to make the car behave the way you want... Yes But The difference you must apply when tuning with the wheel must be based on what you feel. My process was made to do things in a logical order but having a wheel, you can do a lot more because then you will be tuning the car based on what you actually feeling. This way; you might even be able to save some time because if you can solve the issues you feeling, you don't have to go through the entire tuning process👍🏼

      @@racingreaperofficial Thanks for the feedback. Forza Horizon 5 is what I now call a wheelcadesim. The work that has been done to implement FFF in FH5 is truly impressive. But It hasn't the same handling characteristics as more sim directed titles. The new DD wheels are going to open other games to new ideas. Imagine jumping a car in GTA that you control with a FF wheel. So amazing. As for tuning. Imagine a small phone book full of bump stop and spring rates. That's me.

    • @racingreaperofficial
      @racingreaperofficial 2 месяца назад

      Ok it's been a while so let me think here... 1. What are the conditions when you are testing tyre heat? Is it raining? If so, your tyres won't heat up easily and you have to put a lot of stress on them to see some heat being generated 2. Sometimes, you might be using a tyre that is too high a grade to be used with a particular car in its current state. If this is the case, you could try dropping a grade or two depending on what you going for and also pull back some PI that way to throw into other upgrades... Other than that, I also had some situations where I couldn't get any heat to generate in the tyres of certain builds even after downgrading the tyres I was using and making sure that I was testing without the rain... At the time I was doing this, I didn't really understand why it would be like that Until more recently when I started going more and more into Assetto Corsa. What I found was that the alignment could also help with how the tyre heats up. Let me explain: Camber; this is exactly as I explained it where you need to keep your camber negative but it has to be a value whereby you turn in and when the car is pushing the load all the way to the one side, the tyres on that one side must be as close to neutral or even neutral. The new thing I found in Assetto Corsa is that when the tyre goes into positive, we need to set the suspension up so that it slides from the rear first and then the front while still staying stable and that will help generate heat into the tyre. The other thing I found out and it's kind of stupid because I should've known this all along... Toe angles!!! Adjusting your toe angles and making your tyres run a little off-straight to the road will also help generate heat in your tyres. As you adjusting all this, another new thing I've learnt is to do with the ARBs. This doesn't only affect how the body moves over, but it also plays a role in the car's turn-in capabilities. The stiffer you make the front, the sharper the turn-in action will be but it will also reach that point of the tyre slipping quicker (if you set the camber to do that). The stiffer you make the rear, a similar thing will happen but remember your rear is there to keep you lined up properly so a little slip is recommended but if you feel it's uncomfortable and unpredictable, dial it back down a bit Hope this helps man👍🏼

The car is rwd and heavy with 3100lb and 600-800hp depending on tire compound. Think my camber is -1.5 -1.6 one 6 caster with postive toe. Also on a 275 tire (factory)

    • @racingreaperofficial
      @racingreaperofficial 2 месяца назад

      Ok I've had this happen to me before with certain builds and I couldn't get it to stay hot just the same as you But, let's try an experiment if you up for it. Start off putting the tyre compound that gives you the grip level you looking for What Rim size are you using? Try going bigger to leave less room for the tyre to flex and thus, more slip would occur to help generate heat in the tyre The last thing you can do is lower tyre pressures to let it heat up faster🤔

    How do I unlock tuning

    • @racingreaperofficial
      @racingreaperofficial 5 месяцев назад

      You've gotta buy race spec components. Tyre pressure will always be unlocked. For gearing; if you buy sport you get the stock gearbox but can adjust final drive, then there's the race gearboxes and drift box. For alignment, suspension & dampers, buy race or off-road or drift suspension (they each have presets but drift suspension features increased turning angle). For ARBs, buy race ARBs. For aero, you've gotta buy aero for both the front and the rear. For differential; there's race diff, off-road diff, rally diff and drift diff... Each one with a sort of preset but I found that there is still usually room for improvement but it's based on your taste. That's about it👀🤔

    What’s been difficult for me the most about trying to tune my car is not having the racing knowledge I need to be consistent on my driving technique and skills while tuning the car around a track. My inconsistency is screwing up my tune and making it more difficult on getting the correct changes that need to be made.

    • @racingreaperofficial
      @racingreaperofficial 6 месяцев назад

      This is going to sound weird but try something called image training. See how you want the car to run and try to do that and this is where you need to tap in to how the car feels because the next part is to recognise whether it's the car that needs correction or you👀turn off all the assists and let's make it just you and the car. Make sure SIM steering is on. Take a drive at the circuit you've driven on the most (let's keep it to circuits rather than sprints so you can keep driving until you find the perfect lap. You push as hard you can with just your upgrades before you start to make tuning adjustments. Then finally the tuning adjustments will be needed just to tailor the car if you still feel something is off. Most of the time; it will be your brakes, you want the car to be stable while braking and not sliding through the corner with it but you also want it to rotate into the corner as you releasing the brakes (time it for you to turn in as late but as in as possible). Over time you do more laps and you get the feeling for it you must try other tracks to see what can happen.

      Yeah it's not made yet😅sorry my dude. It's going to take some time to compile everything and draft it to create the video. For now though, I will give you one tip. See my recent Touge runs in Assetto Corsa. The part I want you to focus on is the traction circle (G force and traction colours). See how each car makes a pattern on that circle and the pattern is usually circular. Try replicating this in the game you're playing. I've already explained what inputs move the force in what way now all you gotta do is figure out how to make the force move around in a circular motion. If you see the force moving to make a + (by this, I mean a cross) pattern then you're not yet linking your feet to your hands (pedals to steering). A very helpful thing I will tell you is to do trail braking on the controller not by how much you push the stick but rather by how much rotation you want. Make sure you got brakes set more forward so the car stays stable and trail brake according to how quickly and how much you want the car to rotate through the corners. Factor in throttle control and you should be able to get a circular motion with the force going on rather than a cross pattern.

    So the spreadsheet you are using in this video you use for all the cars you are tuning or just this particular car?

    • @racingreaperofficial
      @racingreaperofficial 6 месяцев назад

      I was using it for all the cars I was tuning. It is just something to help me calculate things faster and it brought the time it took to tune a car down to about an hour (from 3-5 hours)

  • @Execution8r

    I need help with adjusting my advance settings. I get some of the settings but some of them like Steering linearity is confusing. What do you have everything set at? Or do you have a video explaining all of those settings?

    • @racingreaperofficial
      @racingreaperofficial 6 месяцев назад

      I don't have a video but I do vaguely remember the kind of settings I had. The only thing I changed was the steering, acceleration and deceleration deadzones to make the stick and triggers as sensitive as possible for more responsive control all round. Now I cannot remember the terms but from what you may see; the lower value deadzone settings (except clutch), turn that all the way down to 0, the higher value deadzone settings (except clutch), turn that all the way up to 100

    • @racingreaperofficial
      @racingreaperofficial 7 месяцев назад

      Thanks man, I'm glad it could help. I will give you one tip that isn't mentioned there. Your Camber and your ARB setting is linked and controls your turn-in speed. What this means is that when you set your Camber (negatively for road going cars I hope), your ARB stiffness setting will influence how fast the wheels lean over (in the case of the front wheels) and that will change how quick the car turns in. In the case of the rear; this will mean that as the car leans over, the ARB stiffness setting will influence how fast or slow the rear tyre is supposed to reach it's point of slip. After that, you only need to factor in the tyre and rim sizes, the power train layout and last will be your technique and how that needs to be adjusted to compensate for the "quirks" and you go from there👍🏼

      @@racingreaperofficialI didn't get anything tbh, but could u explain simply how to tune my gear (don't go too advanced because idk what most of these words mean)

    • @racingreaperofficial
      @racingreaperofficial 7 месяцев назад

      The basics of tuning your gears should be for: 1. Making full use of your top speed. You don't want to be in 6th (example as your final gear) and you doing 180mph at 5500RPM but you can still rev up to 7500RPM. For this, you would adjust final drive. For the most part, you can get away by just changing final drive. 2. Make good use of your engine in the sense that when you change gears like 1st to 2nd, the engine must not die down and struggle to accelerate again. The acceleration must just keep coming. For this, you can adjust each individual gear. 3. To help with understanding each individual gear better, you want to set your gears up to work with the rhythm of the various tracks and types of corners. For me personally; I like to take hairpins in 2nd, 90 degree corners in 3rd and so on. You basically want to be taking each corner as fast as you can and carry as much speed as possible but you also don't want to be at redline going through the corner because you need room to accelerate when you exit the corner. That about sums up the basics 🤔 For keeping traction, I would say it's best for you to work with refined throttle control (technique can beat car setup). For your engine losing power and the acceleration dying at top end, you can shorten final drive just a touch to let the car reach top end faster

    Gear tuning is easy asf. I just tune towards a track. I match up the same gears on each car. NOT THE NUMBERS but where a gear ends of specific corners

    • @racingreaperofficial
      @racingreaperofficial 7 месяцев назад

      This is absolutely correct and what I was trying to tell everyone in the video. The numbers don't matter as much as compared to what speed/rev each gear can give you. Very good strat for rivals as well👌🏼 I do this alot myself for Assetto Corsa
