Hi! I hope you keep creating! I can't wait to become fluent!
Should include the lower case versions. (Ð) ð and Þ (þ). But wth, so in Icelandic ð can be both the th is "this" and "think"!
'Asa, takk, takk. This is very helpful. I agree with Indigo´s comment -- there just aren´t many good resources for learning to pronouce the Icelandic letters, so this is a big blessing!
Que maravilla de narración. Kveðja frá Íslandi 😊
Thx
Great lesson!! Takk fyrir
I'm going to sing this for Laufey👽
I thought icelandic didnt have a c😔
As a Dutch person, we LOVE dt! It confuses so many people, I am the only one in my friends group who can correctly conjugate al the verbs. Even my teachers (at university) make often mistakes in dt-rules in Dutch. At least something I am good at, at University! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR CHANNEL, you really help
Hello! I'm from Russia. Your channel is amazing! Thank you for lessons! Icelandic is very interesting and beautiful language 😊 hope that you will keep creating
I like your energy so much! Thank you for helping us, refugees and foreigners to become part of Icelandic society!
So if a woman has a child with a man and doesn’t know who the father, what would happens then?
Hi! You are very positive and charging us with your positiveness. You may add one more reason for learning Icelandic: Parkinsson will come to such persons much later. Well done. Thank you.
how are you?
Beauty, nice my best regards from Chile 🙏❤
People like you who create educational videos like these teaching your native language will be the reason that language will still be alive and taught in the future. Thank you for making this video on such a beautiful and unique language like Icelandic.
Best video for Icelandic alphabet pronunciation! Love from a Chinese student who majors Icelandic in college 🫶Takk fyrir
But, but, but... what about when it comes between an A and an I like in í lagi? Then it almost seems to turn into a y sound... Or am I just not hearing the soft g?? Hjálp!
That was helpful!! In trying to learn a new language phrases are not as helpful as learning the alphabet. Thanks.
I want to learn Icelandic because I enjoy mythology and read Edda and sagas and I recently learned Icelandic is the closest to Old Norse. I figured I speak some German so why not?
Many thanks for all your help!
Supersoft G is the same what is in czech letter ch :)
CS Lewis' "Ljónið, nornin og skápurinn" is the example that springs to mind if one wants to show three Icelandic nouns of three different genders with the definite article.
This is an excellent video. I have been a big fan of the Bjork recording of this song since it was released in '95. In fact I've long since said it was my very favourite piece of recorded music ever. I know the phonetics of the song from singing along, but i never knew the actual words let alone their specific meaning. I'm a total Bjork fanboy and if someone did a breakdown of Bjork Icelandic lyrics I would watch and like every episode. Good work, well done. 10/10 Greetings from Scotland.
Thank you! I love the Icelandic language. It's not an easy one, though. And finding information on the grammatical structure hasn't been the easiest.
I already speak a difficult language (Polish) and I want to learn Icelandic because I am genuinely obsessed with learning languages that are not commonly taught and used. Thank you for making this course!

"If your first language is English, you are very brave to begin with Icelandic" I, who my mother language is Spanish and speak English just a little, wanting learn Icelandic: 💀
❤
I would love to watch a video of you explaining the stutt hljóð and langt hljóð🤕 for example, I read that 'e' in 'vetur' is long and 'e' in 'lest' is short, but how? it sounds the same for me 🥲🥲
You can say what you want about you, Ása, but you always, always, always make me smile!
F*cking language 😂😂😂 But thanks for this video, you're really helpful, even if there is too much to learn 😅
Very helpful to learn Icelandic pronunciation thank you ❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
10:20 Thank you for your kindness, love and courageousness :)
I do not think I can ever think again, "Oh, 4 numbers, must be like the letter K (because you can breathe again in between the weird and difficult letters". But then you started to explain everything and I can follow you. You explain (most) things super clear, and if I do not understand it at first glance, I do at second glance. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much!!!!!!
I follow Bónus on social media and I do pick up Icelandic words from them. I also pick up words from Bónus products that we purchase whenever we go to Iceland!
Asa what about when the FL is the beginning of the word like Flaska?
'The sky is the limit', er pad (I do not know how to type the letters) ekki?
In Spanish sol is so similar to sól and means the same :0
Thanks for this, very helpful!
Hi! Men are det sant at dere forstår norsk eller dansk også? Jeg skal reise til Island på neste helgen! Gleder meg 😊
You are an amazing teacher!! Thank you so much for your videos! :)
This is awesome!! Thank you for your videos! I just found out about Icelandic and really want to speak it now :) I've been to Iceland on a school trip a couple of years ago and I really liked it! So I hope to be able to speak with Icelanders someday in their native language :)) Thank you so much!!!
In the Ukrainian language, the sound G is also soft, we pronounce it exactly the same as in the phrase "Ég er konna" and as in the word “saga”. In the Ukrainian language there is no hard G sound at all, only soft, with only a few exceptions.
Takk! That was a very interesting grammatical twist on the "góðan daginn" expression. I'm Norwegian so this rings a familiar bell to me, but what's even more interesting is that we also do the "wrong" adjective form. Norwegian has lost the case system in general (officially; many dialects still use especially dative), but the gender and definiteness is still reflected. The modern grammatically correct equivalents to the Icelandic variants are "god dag" or "(den) gode dagen" (yes, double definite article when an adjective is there), but it is _very_ common to say "god dagen" instead, just like in Icelandic... Actually the correct definite form is never used as a greeting, only the first and last of the three.

Awesome teacher
