    Very helpful video. One question is regarding your comments on sugar. You recommended it for Pitta (and I would assume Vata as well), yet said in last items enumerated that we should not use sugar. Also, another food high in resistant starch I have found very helpful is yuca, or cassava root. I am not able to eat whole grains, beans, legumes, seeds or nuts because they contain phytate (phytic acid) and I am a non-secretor of my blood type antigen (Lewis system) which renders my digestive system incapable of breaking down the phytate and therefore I get cavities. So, I have to use a lot of tubers, root vegetables and plantains to get enough fiber and nutrients. Have been researching sprouting and fermentation of the phytate rich foods in order to delete the phytate via higher phytase in order to include these phytate rich foods into my diet. I am Pitta, with Vata complications (IBS) as a consequence of doing a low carb diet for a year (2021-2022) which seems to have wiped out all of the good bacteria in my gut. This is why I came back to Ayurveda. It is helping me a lot. Keep up the good work!

      @vpknutrition-integrativehealth 6 месяцев назад

      Thanks for your detailed comment. I don’t think I ever recommend sugar. Sweet taste is calming for Vata and Pitta but that refers to the natural quality of a food. All carbs, dairy, even some meats are considered sweet taste. When digestion is compromised or slow, even those sweet foods should be limited according to our digestive capacity. For Vata more frequent and smaller portions than a large meal. As for eating whole grains, legumes etc, you can make it more digestible by adding spices, bay leaves and asafoetida which will help digest better. Ayurveda doesn’t say give up some foods forever but to modify and eat smaller portions. I am glad you have embraced Ayurveda. 😊

      @@vpknutrition-integrativehealth Thank you for your response. Just to reiterate, as a non secretor (20% of the population at large) of blood type into the body tissues, this means that non secretors do not have bifida bacteria in their intestine that is normally the mechanism for breaking down whole grains, beans, seeds, nuts. These foods contain phytate. If this food is not fermented 3-5 days, the phytic acid in the whole grains, etc. will bind to the phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, etc. in the body and flush it out. Dental decay on a regular basis could signal this issue occurring, as it has for me in the past. There is a lot of research on this in India, perhaps you could find it and acquaint yourself with it. Just adding spices will NOT remove phytic acid, on it's own. Fermenting was a traditional way of preparing whole grains/beans/nuts/seeds, but it has fallen out of practice over the decades, and so, we pay the price. Even people who are secretors (80% of the population at large) can suffer from not receiving the maximum amount of nutrition from these food items. Since you are a dietician, I would think you could benefit your clients by getting up to speed on this seldom understood genetic variation. And yes, even though I follow the food principles of Ayurveda, I DO NOT follow anything else, such as yoga, pranayama, etc. I follow only the one true God, Jesus Christ. When I was in the new age, I did yoga, but now, I do not. To invoke the kundalini spirit is to invoke the serpent, which is never a wise move. Shalom.

      @vpknutrition-integrativehealth Месяц назад

      Sorry I just saw this comment. Ayurveda and Yoga come from the same source although Yoga is marketed differently in the US as a physical exercise. Pranayama is a breathing technique of extending the breath. (Watch my video on power of breath). Yogis of ancient times believed that we all have only a certain amount of breath in a lifetime and extending it helps extend your lifespan. Also it helps with stress management and regulating your thoughts and emotions better. Not sure why you mentioned Jesus Christ and serpent. It has nothing to do with God or snakes. Unfortunately people with wrong understanding spread the wrong messages about Yoga. It is part of the ancient scriptures but meant for humanity in general for better living. Please learn more about it before you knock it. Yoga is union of body, mind and spirit, the same as Ayurveda. This brings balance and well being to live peacefully and joyfully. Take care.

    Thanks . I have followed same after going through different food life styles. 10am to 2pm best feeding time . I start breakfast at 10am with fruits and before lunch time I eat full plate of salads than cooked vegan food(prefer no oil or less oil). After 2pm avoid cooked food and take fruits only . Next day same routine. Sleeping at 10pm to get darkness it very important for your mind and body. Waking up depends either 2am or 4am depends when sleep breaks. Those seers of past were wise people. They knew about human body better. Also diet of animal and dairy free life style is best with less or no oil.
