The Steamrunner seems a little lighter than I thought it was. I thought it was 303m long with eight Type XII phaser arrays and four forward and two aft torpedo tubes.

This was a damn good fight. A tough as nails Galaxy class. What it always should have been, and the most accurate version of the Defiant I've seen yet. A solid showing by both ships. Adam Lee, by chance do you make Bridge Commander Mods?

Pretty good balance between the two. I just wish you'd stop calling the ship class 'Valdore'. That's NOT the name of the class, just Donatra's ship.

Whew! Down to the wire. The balancing seems on-point for both sides. Good think the Narendra's torp launchers are so tough, if they disabled those, you'd have probably lost this.

Having read some of the other comments, I suppose it makes sense. If it's a 244m variant of the Steamrunner, she's basically a frigate. VS a light cruiser that is New Orleans. Even so... this was extremely 1-sided. N O just walked all over it. And the AI seems to use it well, too. Given how paper-thin the shields are, the Steamrunner definitely needs more ablative armor. I'd give her about 50% increase in all ablative armour strength. Or (and this is a more interesting way) - make her a hull-tank, like the Galor. She already looks very compacted and stocky, like the spaceframe is very tough, so it wouldn't be that much of a leap. Not AS tough (obviously, Galor is way bigger in size), but tougher then she is now. And combined with this level of ablative armour, she could be a nice tough little cookie, without being OPd (since the firepower is limited). As she is now, I see no reason to use the Steamrunner over a Miranda. Miranda might lose out on the hull, but it's shields are better, and it arguably has more firepower (especially phaser firepower). So... catch 22. And the Steamrunner is supposed to be a pure warship. So yeah, this is too weak.

Best tactic for the defiant in this case: Get *INSIDE* the D'deridex. they don't have guns in that giant-ass gap

I could see the defiant winning if the cloak was used correctly and they had quantum torpedos vs the galaxy photons. Much weaker shields but also more maneuverable, just keep at a distance and hammer it with quantum’s, if it gets too close cloak, get distance and repeat

A tough fight for the War Nebula but an easier one for the Sovereign. Though it still had to work to earn it.

That was a pretty close fight. I expect the Valdore will need some shipyard time after this one.

As I recently found out on Retro-Badger's page, the Nova actually is a tough, little ship. Which explains why they survived for so long in the Delta Quadrant.

And here I thought someone said they'd nerfed the Steamrunner Class. It just went toe-toe with an Intrepid, and won the first battle, while taking a heck of a lot of firepower, in the second.

You people need to try this with two human players, or at least turn the AI to hard.

Why does it seem so impossible to simply update this simple-yet-visceral experience without all the fluff of STO?

I feel that this will always be a toss up. The galaxy has more powerful shields and more weapons but the ability of the defiant to get in ship blind spots and hammer damage could go either way

Awesome fight! When you destroyed the Marauders Warp Core in the first match and it DIDN'T blow up, my first thought was "is there a Q captaining that ship?".

A Ferengi Maurader won one clean, fair fight and did some serious damage in the other? That is impressive.

The Ambassador is a great Large Cruiser/Panzerschiff (and I mean that in the actual naval term of a heavy cruiser sized ship with heavier armor and intermediate sized guns between battleships (14-18 inch) and heavy cruisers (8 inch), traditionally in the 11-13 inch group). The Intrepid is an outstanding ship for its size. Hard to classify it within the framework of traditional naval classes. Whereas its size and speed might classify it as a Heavy Destroyer like the Mogador or Fantastique Class, or even a fast cruiser like the German Schnellkreuzer, its Type X phasers carry too much punch. It is more of a "pocket" heavy cruiser because its phaser power is on par with a Nebula or Ambassador Class (though not in the game specs) thanks to its oversized warp core. However, despite having as much phaser power as the Nebula or Ambassador, it doesn't have the shields or armor of the larger ships.

Voyager's more advanced weaponry & shields with greater agility against greater firepower & stronger shields of the Ambassador class, with more torpedoes than Voyager would have.

Gotta say, that Ambassador was TOUGH

Intrepid only won due to human factor the AI is super dumb other way around or having both ships AI controlled and the Ambassidor smokes the Intrepid every time

Balanced battlecruiser is a tricky thing. It was said to readily outlast an Ambassador heavy cruiser, punch through to the nacelle and trigger a core breach. Two could match the Enterprise-E. Heavier forward poleron cannons paired with an assault torpedo wouldn't guarantee victory over a Valdore, but it would be a tough match for both.

What did you balance the Galor 1 to in your mod?

An amazing battle. Excellent tactic with disabling their shield generators and then letting the auto-phasers to fend the others off

God, the Norexan/Valdore/Mogai wouldve been awesome to see in the Romulan armada during DS9.

Doesn’t make sense the D’Deridex has the stronger plasma torpedoes but the Valdore doesn’t.

I wonder how similar the Romulan Valdore and the Klingon K'Vort are to one another. My assumption is that whoever gets the first shots off first would win, although I believe the Valdore is slightly more advanced? I'm sure it would be a quick battle either way, but I wonder which is the better choice if they actually faced one another. I really enjoy your videos, thank you for posting as often as you do.
