Real talk, the romulans during this time relied on plasma cannons (the ones considered pop guns by ep 6 of season 1) just had around 7 of them (barely stronger than pre phase cannons Nx-01) but considering one phase canon was equal to more than that, the NX is stronger. The romulans during that time used cloaked mines and only invaded planets that were pre warp, had no shields (polarized hull like starfleet) and had no torpedoes, they simply were weaker than the NX. During the earth romulan war, a single warp delta with one phase cannon and spatial torpedoes, was more than enough for one romulan BoP. The Nx-03 was destroyed (or was it Nx-04-6, don’t remember) by nearly 9 of them decloaking and firing on an unpolarized hull version at a space dock (pretty much)

I didn't realise they were that weak! I might nerf them a little if that's the case, though not by a lot for gameplay purposes

@@adamlee2111 nonono ofc for gameplay don’t! But yeah, it’s actually crazy when you think about how they managed to do so well, mainly from having SO many more ships

I like this NX class. The in show one hung in a fight a bit more than the mod in the game. This version represents that. The phase canons also seem to do more damage and the sound effects for them are much better. Kudos! Great battle.

Thank you! I wasn't sure how to balance the Romulan ships since we didn't see them fight Enterprise, but in the end I thought they must be weaker. If they were equal or more powerful than the NX class its hard to see how Starfleet could have won a war against them.

@@adamlee2111 I always assumed it would be because of both numbers and tech from the other allies in the war (Vulcan/Andorian/Tellarite), the culmination of which was a mass produced Daedalus class. Still, this is a lovely NX class you have

@@adamlee2111 honestly that makes sense. How could the United Earth win a war against the Romulan's if they were inferior. I concur with another commenter here that a strength the United Earth had was the limited sharing of tech via Andorian's, Tellarites, and so forth. One of the Romulan's biggest shortfall's is isolation instead of collaboration (the klingon alliance not withstanding). All in all this was a great balance between the two powers. Kudos!

Did Romulans not have shielding at this point in time? Seems odd the Vulcans (and other races would) but the Romulans wouldn't

@@Janttanj we know little of the Romulan's at this point. But given they prefer an isolationist policy rather than a collaborative one, itis likely they have similar tech to the United Earth. That's why they saw a potential alliance between the Andorian's, Tellarites, and Vulcan's with earth as such a threat. Between those powers and collaborations, the United Earth (and thus the UFP) would soon eclipse them. They might have been "equals" but with the alliance the Romulan's were "left behind" and forced to make their advancements in their own. Frankly that is a testament to the Romulan Star Empire that they were able to do so without help. Granted they had a period of isolation (incident pf tomar) to assist that, but by the time they were out lf that they were harnessing black holes.

@@jasonwestwood7092 only on larger ships, the small ones didn't have the power output to have both shields and weapons, that's how Earth was able to even hold its own in the first half of the Earth-Romulan war because that was before the tech-sharing started and before the Romulans were able to field their next-gen small ships with shields, I can't remember which novel it was (still somehow Connon) it took 3 Romulan warships to kill 1 NX-Class Ship in a straight up brawl, that is also why the Romulans sent their ships out in sets of 4 on patrols because the NX-class ships were deep space ships they would get sent out on their own for deep space recon and they needed that intel to get back to the Romulan commanders because the NX would only recon an area about to be attacked, so 1 would take off and the other 3 would fight the NX to try and kill it

Romulans of that era are super-inconsistent. We see their tiny 'drone ship' just wiping the floor with multiple advanced warships, and we also see their Warbirds getting shit on.
Idk... they seem too weak here. I feel like two of those things should be able to take out an NX. One on one, the NX should be a little stronger.

@@necroticavalon5176 I did a reverse battle where the warbirds won, the AI let’s them down here. I balanced them to be about 60% of an NX, any more and it’s hard to see how starfleet could win a war against them

@@adamlee2111 How else? Numbers. Just because we only see the NX-class ships, doesn't mean Starfleet didn't have a few hundred Deltas, Intrepids, and all the other smaller designs. And Starfleet didn't fight alone, it was a Coalition (Humans, Vulcans, Andorians, Tellarites) against the Romulans.
I think one of those Warbirds should be slightly weaker then an NX. But not much. Maybe... 85-90% . Otherwise it's hard to believe Romulans would even be willing to go to war. We know they only go to war when they think they have an advantage (or at least parity). Especially since all the other Coalition species had more advanced tech then Humans.
