    Always forget how much of a tough cookie the nolans class is. Makes me wonder what its war refit would be like

    New Orleans Class is a solid ship. The 2350s-early 2360s era Light Cruiser to pair with the Nebula and Galaxy.

    The Steamrunner seems a little lighter than I thought it was. I thought it was 303m long with eight Type XII phaser arrays and four forward and two aft torpedo tubes.

    • @adamlee2111
      @adamlee2111  19 дней назад

      @@KJAkk the size is up for debate, anything between 244-350m has been quoted so who knows? 😂 phasers unlikely to be type XII, more likely type X. My model is on the smaller end at about 250m so I balanced it as a destroyer

    Starfleet could have used a lot more New Orleans during the Dominion War. I'd imagine she's pretty effective at taking out attack ships.

      Its a shame we only got one brief appearance of the class, it would have looked great in the Dominion War fleets

    So the Steamrunner can take out a New Orleans, but it's very close, requiring strategy, tactics, and a whole lot of luck.

    New Orleans class seems overpowered. How can this old ship wreck a Steamrunner class so hard?

    • @adamlee2111
      @adamlee2111  22 дня назад +2

      Its roughly the same era as a Galaxy or Nebula class, some people place it much earlier but going by the design style its a Galaxy era ship. Its also bigger than a Steamrunner hence my decision to make it more powerful. There are also discrepancies with the size of the Steamrunner, some sources giving 375m and others 244m. My model is 244m making it much smaller than a New Orleans. The smaller size makes more sense to me in the context of the First Contact ships, with the Saber the smallest, Steamrunner acting as a destroyer, Norway a light cruiser and Akira a heavy cruiser/battlecruiser

      New orleans was part of the next generation(pun intended) of starship tech. New Oreans is essintaly a mini galaxy class especially in the tech department where new orleans tech was transposed into it. With new orleans being the prototype class for the TNG technology. With classes like challenger and such coming soon after. And then ending with galaxy and nebula as the final product. A very capable 5 class fleet of destroyers cruisers and heavy explorers/battleships for the TNG era.
      New Orleans is also i would say of similar capability to a Ambassader class while being much cheaper and easier to mass produce.
      P.s. had to edit a few times.

      @@Loki1701e The Steamrunner is part of the Anti-Borg fleet. So like late 2360 or early 2370. The New Orleans is 2350 to 2360 tech at best. Steamrunner should be at least equal. Steamrunner has ablative hullarmor, too. In this matchup it gets wrecked. Yet for better comparison you should let the A.I. control both ships, when they fight each other.

    • @Loki1701e
      @Loki1701e 22 дня назад +1

      @@marcusrutkowski8919 i doubt that. Steamrunner is a cabale ship yes and is newer tech but is much smaller and with less power overall. A New Oreans can easily overpower a steamrunner simply by better power via the warp core. And thats not even counting a refit.

      @marcusrutkowski8919 22 дня назад

      @@Loki1701e I disagree. I checked more sources. They state the New Orleans class was launched in 2347 before the Galaxy and it got replaced by all the Battle of Sector 001 ships. For dimensions it should have nearly the same mass as a Steamrunner. So around 350m in length. Check the canon battle. There you can see a lot of Steamrunners. They are around 70% of the Akira Size, which has 464m length.

    Having read some of the other comments, I suppose it makes sense. If it's a 244m variant of the Steamrunner, she's basically a frigate. VS a light cruiser that is New Orleans.
    Even so... this was extremely 1-sided. N O just walked all over it. And the AI seems to use it well, too. Given how paper-thin the shields are, the Steamrunner definitely needs more ablative armor. I'd give her about 50% increase in all ablative armour strength.
    Or (and this is a more interesting way) - make her a hull-tank, like the Galor. She already looks very compacted and stocky, like the spaceframe is very tough, so it wouldn't be that much of a leap. Not AS tough (obviously, Galor is way bigger in size), but tougher then she is now. And combined with this level of ablative armour, she could be a nice tough little cookie, without being OPd (since the firepower is limited).
    As she is now, I see no reason to use the Steamrunner over a Miranda. Miranda might lose out on the hull, but it's shields are better, and it arguably has more firepower (especially phaser firepower). So... catch 22. And the Steamrunner is supposed to be a pure warship. So yeah, this is too weak.

      All the sources I checked state, that the Steamrunner has around 350m. From the Sector 001 ships the size order is: Defiant > Sabre > Norway/Steamrunner > Akira.
      So I would say, that it is the New Orleans, which is way too strong in this mod. Let the New Orleans battle a Nebula A.I. vs. A.I. to check the power.
