    I like how you correctly placed the sensor array to be under the saucer instead of the more typical Deflector Array.

    • @02ujtb00626
      @02ujtb00626 4 месяца назад

      The array on the saucer is a deflector/sensor dish too for separated flight mode. By the late 23rd century Starfleet adopted the dual purpose deflector/sensor dish approach rather than have them separate like on the constitution class, likely because ships got bigger. There are also sensor strips (on the Galaxy class) along the ships edges (saucer and secondary hull).

      @@02ujtb00626 I'm not the biggest fan of Voyager, but I've always appreciated how its secondary deflector actually _looked_ like a smaller deflector dish.

    This was an epic battle, I LOVED the way the weapons pod exploded when you fired the death blow in the second battle. I am surprised the Nebula folded so quickly when you played the Galaxy. They should be roughly even in the combat department. Can you do a battle with the uprated Galaxy class and a Devore warship?

    • @adamlee2111
      @adamlee2111  4 месяца назад +2

      Yeah the Nebula definitely needs a buff! My videos are often "hot off the press" so to speak so the ships aren't always where they should be.
      I'll get the Devore Warship sorted this week for you, though against a War Galaxy I would imagine it will be a short fight

      Side note, I much prefer the model for the standard Nebula compared to this one: it doesn't look right to me with a Galaxy style saucer. This model is the CGI Nebula, since both were seen on screen I had to include it. It seemed a good candidate for the uprated Nebula

    Always thought the Nebula class wasn't given its due; it's basically a more compact Galaxy-class without the goose-neck section, which means it should be slightly faster and slightly more manoeuverable than the actual Galaxy-class.

    This perfectly demonstrates just how tough and robust these beasts are, and also perfectly demonstrates the ridiculousness of the Enterprise-D being taken down by a Klingon bird of prey. 30 years later and that still baffles me, lol.

    • @adamlee2111

      That battle is one of Star Trek's worst moments. A Vor'Cha class fighting a shieldless Galaxy would have been plausible but a single Bop is a joke.
      In the original script, the Enterprise battles a Romulan Warbird at the Amargosa system, and the heavy damage sustained is the reason the Bop is able to cripple the shieldless Enterprise.

    • @MrAranton

      This demonstrates nothing. The ships in Bridge Commander are balanced to provide optimal gameplay, not to accurately depict canon. And on screen most ships are done the moment their shields collapse, because the damage the hull can take before it disintegrates is but a tiny fraction of what the shields can absorb before they fail.

    • @T0ffik1
      @T0ffik1 Месяц назад

      @@MrAranton yeap you are 100% right on this one. On screen Federation ships were made of paper mache compared to tanky well armored klingon/jem'hadar ships or just gigantic warbird that even when weaker armored then klingon ships, has had size to take dmg. Galaxy was probably one of the squishiest ships in federation, hits (ramm) to gondoles or its HUGE weak spot near warp core on its "neck" made it go down easy. Damn w warbird in TNG (not firing torps) with one wolley took down enterprises shields to 30%. Even if you post dominion refits you still have to take into consideration romulans would uprade too (and probably they had earlier access to borg tech then fed's - as borg had to go through their terrain). It was overall a bad combat design.
      Nebula a ship that costed half or less had similar dmg output with his torp pod. Even after refits it was just a back line command ship as for its size and price it was just a jack of all trades, and not really excellent at anything (and for half of functions it was just to big or had wasted resources for things it didnt need at all).
      In game you just watch full of windows 0 armored federation ships take more beating then well armored ships as its just fan made balance and nothing more.

  • @aaronatwood9298

    The nebula downfall was that it didn't quite generate the power of the Galaxy. Its close, but the nebula was never as fast as a Galaxy at warp and at impulse they wouldn't be that much different given the mass isn't much less with the nebula.
    Like the Constitution 2 vs Miranda. In the same era the Miranda may have aft torpedos, but all the connie phasers are the same power is the Miranda "mega phasers" and actually has better phaser arc coverage. Connie also generated more power making for more powerful shields and faster speeds.

      This was partially solved by giving them new, more powerful warp cores by 2373. The example is in 2370 the maximum speed of the Nebula Class was about Warp 9.4. But by 2373, the uprated Nebulas could hit Warp 9.9.

  • @crownprincesebastianjohano7069
    @crownprincesebastianjohano7069 5 дней назад

    I have always loved the Nebula. *_It is the true MVP of starfleet. When equipped with the tactical pod it becomes a battlecruiser._* Its versatility is all important for an organization with so many varied mission sets. In its general form in 2372 it is an excellent heavy cruiser that is 75% as powerful as a Galaxy Class and around 85% for its scientific/diplomatic/exploration missions. But, put a dedicated module on it and it can match the Galaxy in any single mission set. Tactical pod? 95% of the Galaxy's firepower. Sensor pod? Superior to the Galaxy in those respects. And when the started installing new warp cores in them in 2371, vastly increasing their power generation with the ability to reach Warp 9.9, added with the new tactical/sensor combined modules they basically became battlecruisers: Exceeding the Galaxy in torpedo firepower and 90% in phaser power and shields. Their only issue was the lack of dedicated armor, making them literal battlecruisers: Battleship firepower but only heavy cruiser protection. The War Nebulas with quantum torpedoes were a menace: Only the Galaxy and Sovereign were more powerful of the line vessels. War Nebulas were superior to all other Alliance ships too save the Neghvar. Yes, I believe the War Nebula is a more effective warship than the D'Deridex and vastly more resource effective in material, support and personnel.

    • @adamlee2111
      @adamlee2111  3 дня назад

      Great read! The Nebula class is far more viable than the Galaxy in almost every way, Starfleet would be stupid not to produce a huge number of them. I would argue that a War Nebula is better than a Neghvar in most situations: those huge seige guns are only effective against stationary targets and a slow and lumbering ship like the Neghvar is a perfect target for a Nebula's vast torpedo armament. I bet its phaser array is more effective against swarms of smaller ships as well
