How soft is the clay?

Air bubbles don't make pieces explode in the kiln. They will explode if the clay hasn't been fully dried. With larger pieces that are fully enclosed, it would take much longer to dry than if say you poked a hole in it for air flow.

Is it possible to make a Hot Pink underglaze? Or do you know who might make one? I once had a professor who make a hot pink sparkly one. I’m not sure what he mixed but it was wild. Should have asked him for his recipe.

If i make an underglaze out of a clay that fires red and add pigment to it, will the clay change the colour of it? Like, if i want a yellow, will it make it all orange and shit?

Very helpful information. I ALWAYS have issues with my slabs, You're an excellent teacher!! I never thought of the canvas texture being an invitation for cracks when bending my slabs. So good to know that I need to put those grains back together with a rib.

Hi Jane, I used the rice and it did bake out when fired, however, when out of the kiln, the rice indentation’s were really sharp. I tried rubbing them to smooth the edges but it didn’t work. I will try the split lentils next! Any tips would be really appreciated. x

I love watching your videos!! You have taught me so much about pottery!! I have a question if you don't mind. I am using Amaco flux and it is not running and making the dips, that are so pretty. I put on 3 coats of it. Am I firing hot? I go to 1975 degrees and then I hold it at 1600 degrees because I heard that it helps with the drips.
