Oh you are just cracking me up that is exactly what I am after I love things that look old and beat up the things you created have a beautiful vintage feel I …adore them thanks for sharing this and helping me to understand how to go about getting a look like that
You probably dont care but does anyone know a way to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost my login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me!
I looove everything about you, your work, and your teaching style. I feel like you’re right here and so available. And, youve got such a creative variety of projects and info....cant stop watching long enough to work😉 i really would like to purchase your underglazes as your colors are SO yummy, but not sure where to find them and I’m guessing that sending them to Chicago/US would make the cost prohibitive, but would love to be wrong. Appreciate the feedback. Trudi Hardegree
Hello, thank you for your kind words - i now sell pigment free underglaze medium and pigments so you can make your own underglaze colours at home - its really easy and cheaper than buying ready made colours. janescottceramics.com/product/pigment-free-underglaze-medium-120ml/ here is the link. I post to the USA all the time - its no problem if you dont mind waiting a bit for it to arrive. Happy potting
Jane - your videos are fantastic. Better than anything I've found on Netflix recently and it's Oscars season, so that says a lot! I want to order a few things from your shop and I'd like to order the blue underglazes and the white that you used on your beautiful vessel (at 12.49 in the video) and also wanted to ask if you use a clear glaze over the top? Thanks so much!, Lori
Hi There, sorry for the long delay in replying - I’m in Spain on holiday so have been having a nice break from social media etc…. You can go straight to the pottery shop on my website to order stuff : janescottceramics.com/. And yes, I use a transparent glaze over the top of most stuff…. Happy potting 😍
Hi there Maren, sorry for the late response I’m in Spain and having a bit of a break from social media etc…. 😎. The underglaze medium that i sell has a really wise firing temp range - 1080 - 1260 and will probably go a bit higher than that too…. Try it, its super nice and you can mix in your own pigments so easily - here is the link to the shop if you want to buy some to see for yourself: janescottceramics.com/product/pigment-free-underglaze-medium-120ml/. 👍🏼
Glad you like the vids 👍🏼 errmmm if you have already dipped a pot in glaze then there would be no need to add more glaze with a brush... but perhaps i am misunderstanding you...? 🤔
Another brilliant video, thank you so much 😊 this is probably a bit boring but do you have any tips / could you do a video on looking after your tools/ cleaning and tidying up etc? I’m doing everything in my dining room / kitchen and I keep seeing videos warning about the hazards of clay dust etc
Just keep wiping everything down with damp sponge/cloth, thats all you can do to keep the dust down. Try not to worry too much about it though, i could tell you about some potters studios that would make your toes curl... 🤣
Loved your video. I'm just back into pottery and am exploring underglaze. I wanted to know if you ever do put glaze over the top of your designs? How do I buy from you?
Hi there, its easy - I must do a video on that... Press your foliage into clay, bisque fire that bit of clay and then press new soft clay into your bisque fired ‘mould’ and bingo you will have your foliage in relief.
Love love love your videos! Out of curiosity, how are your homemade underglazes different than say maybe, velvet underglaze? I love in the states and love your colors etc, but shipping is going to be a bear😊. Thanks and be well...
I’m so glad you are enjoying the vids😀. My underglazes behave in the same way as amaco underglazes but i do truly believe that mine are better, higher pigment and cover better too... Yes, postage to USA will be a bit disappointing I think... I must look into it! They will be available on my website very soon.
Are your clear Matt and gloss glazes food safe? I love the effects of your underglazes but assume I would need a clear glaze over perhaps - inside a cup or on a plate for example?? Also wondered if I bought the base underglaze medium can I just add mason stain? Thank you!
Just found your channel. fabulous! I shall be watching the rest and love your work. Could I ask re earthenware, is it food safe with the slip covering the inside and rim. I get confused as some say it must be glazed entirely to be useable yet I see pieces that aren't fully glazed? You're the lady to know :) Thanks for the great videos!
Hi There Kevin, I am working on getting the underglazes on the website and they will be there very soon I promise - right now if you are local you can bring a container and fill up or I can post them out to you but you need to contact me through the website or email me direct on muddyfingers@live.co.uk. Thanks for looking 😁👍🏼

Just What I was looking for, Thanks Jane 😊
You give me more self worth!!! I am really struggling in my clay class, I just don't fit with everyone
Well im glad about that! ❤️

Hi, it is beatyful! Thank you. So you fire 3 Times? Best regards from Austria, Angelika
No I fire twice - bisque fire and then layering of underglazes 👍🏼
I ask because the white glaze looks like that it is allready fired. Thank you
your really friendly and down to earth, thank you for sharing x
Thank you, I’m glad you are enjoying the videos 😀
Great video. Lovely mug. Thank you!
Thank you x
Thank you for the great video. Do you apply clear glaze over the underglaze application?
Yes I do!

Thank you! It is pretty easy 😊

Love your videos!! Can you put brush glaze over a pot that just been dipped in glaze??
Glad you like the vids 👍🏼 errmmm if you have already dipped a pot in glaze then there would be no need to add more glaze with a brush... but perhaps i am misunderstanding you...? 🤔
Such great, informative videos! I'm wondering if the underglazes have the capacity to run, or they will stay put where applied? Thanks!
It depends how thick they are, you can make them runny by adding some water but the underglaze i sell is double cream consistency. 👍🏼

Hello yes you can glaze over the top and yes you can buy from my pottery shop - we are open! Www.janescottceramics.com
Brilliant, looks great! Pray tell, how do you get the raised plant forms onto the pots?
Hi there, its easy - I must do a video on that... Press your foliage into clay, bisque fire that bit of clay and then press new soft clay into your bisque fired ‘mould’ and bingo you will have your foliage in relief.

You can just add stain to the underglaze medium - i sell them as well on the WS. 😁

Its fine to just be glazed inside, i love the contrast of matt and shiny i feel completely safe using this sort of thing with food and drink. 😊
@@JaneScottCeramics Thank you! I'm going to try some, so inspiring!! 😃
Hi you say we can buy your underglazes can you post a link to your webshop please?
Hi There Kevin, I am working on getting the underglazes on the website and they will be there very soon I promise - right now if you are local you can bring a container and fill up or I can post them out to you but you need to contact me through the website or email me direct on muddyfingers@live.co.uk. Right at about 1:27/14:53 on this video, did you say it was “already bisque fired” or it is “going to be bisque fired?”
The cup I’m working on has already been bisque fired 👍🏼
@@JaneScottCeramics I am enjoying this video and learning a lot. May I apply the same technique to greenware?
How do you keep your underglaze from sticking to your kiln shelf if you put it on the bottom?
They just dont stick so i dont need to worry about that.
What is the brand name of the dark orange underglaze that you use?
Its my own brand 😀 janescottceramics.com/product/pigment-free-underglaze-medium-120ml/ here is the link to my shop you could buy the underglaze medium and the marigold orange pigment and make the same colour easily. 👍🏼
How much underglaze do you put on the brush?thanks
Slap loads on. Better thick! 👍🏼
do you use a clear glaze over top?
sorry, I meant to say Matte clear
Nope. I just leave it bare.
So is that how they look before or after being fired?
Yes thats before, although they just get slightly darker and brighter with firing. 👍🏼
@@JaneScottCeramics I love the effect : )
Greenware or bisque
Bisque.
You are so sweet and cute..nice to listen to
